Michael Jackson News / Michael Jackson rocks on canvas in Delhi
« on: October 01, 2010, 05:02:58 AM »
New Delhi, Oct 1 (IANS) King of Pop Michael Jackson has been brought to life in 12 mixed media paintings here which capture his journey from obscurity to stardom, diseases and tragic death that remains a mystery.

The over a month-long exhibition 'Michael Jackson: the Legend' at the American Center deconstructs the mythical persona of MJ, or Jacko as the pop star was fondly called, into abstract drawings, etchings and 3-D mixed media portraits.

The exhibition, which started Wednesday and will close Oct 30, is a part of the American Center's Commonwealth art show.

Artist Ruby Lal of Gurgaon-based Studio 128, a subsidiary of the lifestyle and arts promotion platform Shuringer India, said she was inspired by Picasso to 'portray the pop star and his metamorphosis'.

A large 6 feet X 3 feet canvas, 'MJ Dressed in UP Black' shows the standing pop star clad in three-dimensional abstract clothes. The expression on his face, a little distorted at the corners of his mouth, is one of laughter.

The multi-coloured composition uses velvet, leather, feathers, gold and silver silk thread, crystals, wood, chocolate wrapper, metal buckles, embroidery, oil paints and old textiles to blow MJ larger than life with solid textures.

'Jackson was known for his unique style of clothes at shows and a strange choice of colours,' Lal said.

A 3.5 feet X 3.5 feet composition, Lupus, in acrylic on canvas shows a mutilated MJ. In 1980, Jackson was diagnosed with the disease Lupus in which the body's immune system becomes hyperactive and attacks normal, healthy tissue resulting in inflammation, swelling, and damage to joints, skin, kidneys, blood, the heart, and lungs.

The painting shows a disjointed Jackson with bloated fingers, skeletal torso and a mangled face in shades and strokes of white, blue, hints of pink and green.

The strain of lupus DNA is shown as L-shaped strings on the pop icon's figure.

'He used excess make-up to cover his botched skin and surgeons speculated that he had also undergone rhinoplasty, a forehead, cleft, cheekbone lift and had acquired alternative lips,' Lal said.

'Those close to the singer said he had been through nearly 10 procedures by 1990. He also suffered from body dysmorphic disorder,' she added.

Those suffering body dysmorphic disorder are too obsessed with minor flaws in their appearance and seek refuge in frequent plastic surgeries.

The detailed canvases freeze the pop star's frames in several moods and poses - at concerts performing the moonwalk, bothering about his diseased skin, his transformation from a brown-skinned boy to a white man and his love for nature.

Michael Jackson was born in 1958 as the eighth of the 10 children to an African-American family in Indiana, US. He was known for hit dance singles like 'Beat It', 'Billy Jean', 'Thriller', 'Scream' and 'Dangerous'.

The showman died in 2009.

Michael Jackson News / Bodyguard Says Michael Jackson’s Son Blanket Is His
« on: September 28, 2010, 05:07:17 AM »
In yet another shocking, though not altogether unexpected, twist a former bodyguard of Michael Jackson has stepped forward to claim that there is a high chance the late singer’s younger son, Blanket, is actually his child.

Since Michael’s death in June 2005, at least a handful of former bodyguards and associates came forward with various claims, most of which were proved wrong the instant they were made.

For instance, a former business associate said a couple of months ago that Paris was actually his daughter, and not Michael’s – and that he had an agreement with the singer regarding her.

The story of martial arts expert Matt Fiddes is no different, as IOL News can confirm. He says that, back in 2007, the late King of Pop offered him money to father a baby for him.

Fiddes claims he turned down the money (because he and Michael were friends) but agreed to help him out. Nine months later, Prince Michael II, also known as Blanket, was born.

The former bodyguard says he doesn’t want to put out there the theory that he is Blanket’s father – but he’s adamant to have people know that he could be it.

“Michael never told me himself that Blanket is my son but […] the child is the spitting image of me. He told me he wanted an athletic child and that is what he has got,” Fiddes says.

“I don’t want Blanket thinking I am telling everyone he is definitely my son because I’m not sure,” he adds.

According to the former bodyguard, he refused to take Michael’s money back in 2007 because he had his own fortune. He’s not out to get money now either, he says.

For the time being, Fiddes is just happy with telling his story, he claims. Should something happen to Katherine Jackson, though, he will step in to claim custody of Blanket, if he’s entitled to it.

“I don’t want anything from the estate or their money. Katherine Jackson has already denied me the right to see Blanket, but if she were to die I would be straight over there,” he says.

“Fiddes tried to pretend that he was a close friend of my son Michael, but when I spoke to Michael about him, he could not remember who he was. The whole family was deeply upset by the interviews he gave shortly after Michael’s death, which no friend would have done,” Katherine said of Fiddes a while back.

Michael Jackson News / DOUG ELFMAN: Tribute to Jackson set for Saturday
« on: September 28, 2010, 04:45:01 AM »
In the 1970s, The Jackson 5 played two shows a day in Las Vegas. The Jackson kids were too young to hang out in the casino. And video game consoles hadn't been invented yet.

So what did that leave them to do all day and night?

"Room service," Jermaine Jackson says, plus board games and tutoring.

Three decades later, Michael Jackson returned to Vegas to live in a sultan's mansion. He also was a fan of the Luxor's Egyptian theme.

This Saturday, Jermaine returns to Vegas, to Planet Hollywood, to stage a tribute concert to Michael.

Jermaine, amiable and soft-spoken during a lunch break Monday at Rumor, says it's still hard to deal with Michael's death. "Being a brother you grow up with, you (playfully) slapped on, you shared triple-bunk beds. And all of a sudden, he's gone. When I think about it, my mind goes blank," Jermaine says.

Because a swirl of legal drugs was involved in Michael's death at age 50, I ask Jermaine whether his family has thought about doing anti-drug activism.

"We've done some of that stuff in the past. But it is important to catch 'em in their early teens because you hear what's going on -- even with young people in Hollywood," says Jermaine, 55, who insists he doesn't drink (or gamble).

"I don't want to name names, because they're young and they have so much going for themselves. I don't know if they can help it. It is not cool to be like that.

"The way we were taught (in the Jackson family): Don't do nothin' you're not supposed to do," he says. "I wish I could share some of my upbringing in how we were talked to and how we stayed away from that.

"I don't really understand drugs or what drugs are. And I like it like that. I'm very ignorant when it comes to that."

Jermaine, who sang with Michael in those high-pitched Jackson 5 hits, plans to sing Michael songs in the vocal register people are used to.

"It's gonna sound exactly (as) what you've heard," he says.

That will go for "Human Nature," "Beat It," "You Are Not Alone" and other Michael hits, plus Jackson 5 tunes and Jermaine's singles such as "Do What You Do."

"We're just trying to tell a story through the show. I'm sharing some memories," he says. "I talk about being at Neverland (Ranch), and what it was like -- the feeling we all got through the chance to relive our childhood, because it was a place for children to come and have fun, who were terminally ill."

Brother Jackie Jackson still lives in Vegas, and the Jackson patriarch and matriarch have a home here, although sisters have moved from here to Los Angeles, Jermaine says.

Jermaine never saw Vegas as a potential home because of "people walking the streets with beer" hanging around their necks, he says with a laugh.

"This place is like no place in the world. It's amazing. But I'm more low-key. I'm quiet."

BIG BONED

Las Vegas' Jay Cutler won his fourth Mr. Olympia title at The Orleans, then went to club Blush on Saturday with 25 people, while another 25 were inside waiting for him. They drank champagne and vodka cocktails as he signed autographs and posed for photos along with bodybuilding champs Ronnie Coleman and Toney Freeman.

FACEBOOK STAT

I've never seen so many people post the same story on Facebook as they did Monday's story that the owner of the Segway company rolled his way to an ironic death. Which reminds me of Jim Fixx, who made jogging popular, then died at 52 of a heart attack. But here's my real FYI: A new Segway costs $7,000. Kind of a rip.

Michael Jackson News / Michael Jackson thought people wanted him dead
« on: September 17, 2010, 07:32:45 AM »
Michael Jackson thought people wanted him dead because of “vicious rumours about him molesting children”.

The late pop legend – who died of acute Propofol intoxication in June 2009 – was convinced the allegations made against him would result in his demise, even though they were never proven and was never found guilty of any wrong doing.

His mother Katherine Jackson revealed: “He told me several times he felt that people wanted him gone, wanted him dead. He would always say that and for him to say that he must have known something.

“And also the vicious rumours about him molesting children, they are one of the reasons I think that he knew people didn't want him around any longer. But he knew those were lies.

“It’s been proved, the first kid coming out and saying it was a lie. It’s just some of the mean, evil, vicious people didn’t want him around for some reason, they’re greedy.”

Katherine also spoke of her belief that Dr. Conrad Murray – the ‘Blood on the Dance Floor’ singer’s personal physician at the time of his passing who has been charged with involuntary manslaughter in relation to his death – is responsible for her son’s death.

She added in a video interview for new memorabilia package ‘Michael Jackson Secret Vault’: “Of course it could have been prevented because he had hired a doctor to watch over him and the doctor was negligent.”

However, the pop matriarch – who has legal custody of her son’s three children, Prince Michael, 12, Paris, 11, and eight-year-old Prince Michael II, who is known as ‘Blanket’ – admitted she is still desperate to know what happened to Michael on the night of his death.

Asked what she would like to say if she could speak to her son again, she said: “I’d have so much to say but the main thing I want to know is what really happened.”

Joe Jackson / Michael Jackson's Father Insists He Hit Michael For His Own
« on: September 06, 2010, 05:48:19 AM »
Michael Jackson's father Joe has no regrets about his superstar son's strict upbringing insisting his discipline regime kept the singer out of jail and away from gang violence.

The late King of Pop previously spoke of the Jackson patriarch's tough parenting and alleged Joe often hit him as a child. But Joe is adamant he had to be tough for Jackson's own good.

In an interview with Jacksonsecretvault.com, which will be shown in a movie to be co-produced by Katherine Jackson, Joe says, "I had to be like that because when raising him, in those days, so many gangs (were) out there getting into trouble, going to jail. Most of them are dead now. He didn't have to worry about that."

"No (I don't have any regrets). They tried to make a big issue when I spanked Michael or some of the kids, ya know? Just like they didn't spank their kids when they did wrong. The media twists everything."

Michael Jackson News / Michael Jackson Might Return To Big Screen
« on: September 01, 2010, 05:11:16 AM »
(RTTNews) -  A former associate of Michael Jackson is reportedly hoping to release a full-length film about the late King of Pop that was nearly 30 years in the making.

TMZ reports that Ron Newt was once so close to Jackson that he was granted special behind-the-scenes access to the 1981 Triumph tour. Now Newt is trying to package the footage, which includes previously unseen rehearsal footage and rare candid moments from the Jackson family.

Newt has assembled a 64-minute film that shows Jackson at age 23, just a year before the release of his iconic Thriller album. Proposals for the film have so far reportedly reached seven figures.

The Jackson family is also making headlines this week as Michael's oldest two children Paris and Prince struggle to adjust to life in their new private school. The children are attended by full-time body guards, and according to one parent at the school, this is a problem for other children.
