It really depends on the school and what the performance was for (I suppose I could watch it again and find that out). Anyway, almost all schools purchase something (I can't remember for the life of me what it's called as I'm writing this), but they purchase it from ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors & Publishers). This allows them to use copyrighted materials within the school (for example someone singing in a school auditorium at a talent contest, the music used by the marching band, etc....conversely, rights do have to be bought for musical productions). It is the same thing that bars purchase so that they are covered with bands come into their establishments and play covers. The bands don't pay rights to perform them, they don't ask the artists for permission and they are breaking no copyright laws because almost every bar that has live music is covered (look for the sticker on the door...you'll be amazed 'cause you never saw it before!) The only time copyright laws are broken in any of the above cases is if it is recorded and sold.

He doesn't need Sony's permission to sing it...only to record it and sell it...I wish he did need permission though...that was TERRIBLE! (just my opinion)

As for getting the story straight, the longer this goes on, the more slip-ups there are going to be, which is probably why they always try to deflect questions about Mike. It goes back to the very basis of why it isn't a good idea to lie...because it always involves telling more lies to justify the first lie...and then one has to remember what lies they told in the first place and that'll get them every time!
Never mind the behavior of the rest of the family, let's just look at Janet: where was she when she heard MJ "died"?...New York or Atlanta?? When was the last time she saw him? Two days before her birthday (in May) or two days before he "died" (in June)? Did Janet call Tito or did Tito call Janet? THIS IS THEIR BROTHER!!!! They can't remember where they were?!?! When the last time they saw him?!?! Who called who?!?! I remember exactly where I was, who was in my house and the first thing I did when I found out (I was sitting at my kitchen table checking my FaceBook on my laptop, my friend Brooke posted what had just been announced on TMZ, my best friend from Canada, her son, my ex-husband and my daughter were in the house and the first thing I did was run to my living room, sit down on my chaise and turn on the TV) I don't even KNOW him and I remember EVERY detail...his SIBLINGS don't?!!! bullllllllll-SHIT!!!!! (pardon my language, but it's gotta be said!)

Sigh. People, we are going under the assumption that Michael is still alive. Meaning that he lied to the whole world, including the fans he claimed to have love so much, spent much of his money and his time to make sure that most of us believed in it, put out a movie that made MILLIONS AND MILLIONS of dollars that probably would have not happen had he been "alive." Not to mention that a few of us claim that he is also sending us clues to let us know that he is alive. My point? If Michael did indeed hoaxed his death and he comes back, THE MEDIA WOULD EAT HIM ALIVE ANYWAY! :roll: Not if it's something he had to do for extremely valid reasons. I don't buy that he faked his own death to "get away from it all", get out of the spotlight, etc....I think there is something much more serious going on, and it scares the hell out of me. Geraldo clamming up, the forum going down not once, but twice...what's to say it didn't go down soon after someone posted a theory WAY too close to the truth? There is no way in hell I'm elaborating on my theory on a public forum because who knows who's reading. Let's just say wherever Mike is, they sure as hell better know what they're doing and they better keep him safe! Please don't think I'm angry and anyone on this site or on the old MJHD site...I'm just frustrated with the whole situation!
