Similarities between Tupac and MJ
February 13, 2010, 03:18:03 AM
Alot of people like to compare the lives of MJ and Elvis but I find that Tupac and MJ were similar in so many ways.  Tupac said that as a child he was quiet.  He went to a creative school where he was introduced to theater and acting.  In the documentary Tupac ressurrection he talks about watching shows like different strokes and wanting to imitate the lives of those people.  So he wanted to pursue acting to get that "joy" in life that he saw on tv.  In comparison MJ was also a quiet but creative child.  He also has stated that he thought music was a way to get "love" from other people.  Tupac was a thug type yes but he was very compassionate when it came to issues about homelessness and injustice.  He would always speak his mind about those issues openly and bring them to the surface.  MJ was the same he was also very compassionate about global issues and he was always trying to help people and bring awareness to these issues. They both were surrounded by controversy during their careers.  Tupac was also targeted by law enforcement on several occasions.  He was accused of sodomy but he wasn't convicted for it.  Instead he was sent to jail for sexual assault and placed in maximum security prison.  Mj said he was also ruffed up by police.  In comparison we know that MJ was targeted as well for child molestation allegations. Both of their images were also tarnished by the media.  Tupac was very passionate and emotional when he delivered his raps.  He had that emotion in his voice as did MJ.  Tupac had ties with the Black Panthers as did MJ and also ties with the Nation of Islam.  Before Tupac died he was very paranoid that he was going to die.  He spoke of it very often.  It's also been reported that MJ was afraid for his life as well before he died.  They both spoke of how they didn't trust people anymore.  Tupac hooked up with notorious death row records and Suge Knight while MJ was managed by Frank Dileo, Tommy Mottolla and Sony records. Both Suge Knight and I've heard that Frank Dileo have ties with gangstas.(It's been speculated.)  When Tupac died the case was never solved.  It was said that there were no fingerprints or weapon at the scene.  Controversy surrounding his death as well as with MJ with Dr. Murray.  Tupac body was never viewed in public but there was a private ceremony and a memorial.  The same for MJ.  I always thought that Tupac was definitely dead but TMZ recently released pics that looked just like Tupac still alive.(I'm not saying their legit but they sure looked real.)  MJ also has rumors flying that he is still alive.  Both artists have sold mega albums after death even new material being released.  I just find it interesting that these two artists were so similiar in their backgrounds.  It just makes you think.....

Unfortunately, aside from both being creative and black, I don't see the similarities.

Tupac's lyrics tended towards violence and misogyny.  Not a good example.  Even though he did have some positive things to say here and there and was quite well read, a lot of the problems he had he brought on himself.

The things he got into trouble for legally were things he actually engaged in("sodomy" in a night club if I remember correctly).

Oh wait, the other similarity I do agree with was that he surrounded himself with shady characters, but that had more to do with his own character and lifestyle choices than just his situation.

All of this is according to his half brother.
Also, according to him, his brother Tupac is deceased.

P.S.  Take a look at the some of the comments posted on the above video.  We are not the only ones who are putting two and two together.

Well I pointed out all the similarities.  If you disagree that's fine but just to let you know it's a fact that he was charged but not convicted of sodomy.  The judge convicted him of sexual assault instead and then sent to a maximum security prison.  Tupac talked about how hurt he was that everybody was looking at him as a rapist when he wasn't.  I personally believe him.  I don't think Tupac would have to do that to a girl he had plenty of females that wanted him including Madonna, whom he briefly dated.  There was no evidence to prove it.  If you watch the documentaries about him they talk about this incident.  The girl involved went to his room by her own free will.  They didn't find any DNA or anything on that girl.  Yeah it's true that he made some songs that may seem negative but he also made positive song like Brenda's got a baby, Keep your head up, and Dear Mama.  I've seen him speak passionately about the homeless and injustice so that's where I was relating him to MJ.  Maybe he didn't put it in his lyrics but he spoke about it all the time in interviews.

2Pac - "Changes"

Come on come on
I see no changes wake up in the morning and I ask myself
is life worth living should I blast myself?
I'm tired of bein' poor & even worse I'm black
my stomach hurts so I'm lookin' for a purse to snatch
Cops give a damn about a negro
pull the trigger kill a nigga he's a hero
Give the crack to the kids who the hell cares
one less hungry mouth on the welfare
First ship 'em dope & let 'em deal the brothers
give 'em guns step back watch 'em kill each other
It's time to fight back that's what Huey said
2 shots in the dark now Huey's dead
I got love for my brother but we can never go nowhere
unless we share with each other
We gotta start makin' changes
learn to see me as a brother instead of 2 distant strangers
and that's how it's supposed to be
How can the Devil take a brother if he's close to me?
I'd love to go back to when we played as kids
but things changed, and that's the way it is

Come on come on
That's just the way it is
Things'll never be the same
That's just the way it is
aww yeah
[Repeat]

I see no changes all I see is racist faces
misplaced hate makes disgrace to races
We under I wonder what it takes to make this
one better place, let's erase the wasted
Take the evil out the people they'll be acting right
'cause both black and white is smokin' crack tonight
and only time we chill is when we kill each other
it takes skill to be real, time to heal each other
And although it seems heaven sent
We ain't ready, to see a black President, uhh
It ain't a secret don't conceal the fact
the penitentiary's packed, and it's filled with blacks
But some things will never change
try to show another way but you stayin' in the dope game
Now tell me what's a mother to do
bein' real don't appeal to the brother in you
You gotta operate the easy way
"I made a G today" But you made it in a sleazy way
sellin' crack to the kid. " I gotta get paid,"
Well hey, well that's the way it is

We gotta make a change...
It's time for us as a people to start makin' some changes.
Let's change the way we eat, let's change the way we live
and let's change the way we treat each other.
You see the old way wasn't working so it's on us to do
what we gotta do, to survive.

And still I see no changes can't a brother get a little peace
It's war on the streets & the war in the Middle East
Instead of war on poverty they got a war on drugs
so the police can bother me
And I ain't never did a crime I ain't have to do
But now I'm back with the facts givin' it back to you
Don't let 'em jack you up, back you up,
crack you up and pimp smack you up
You gotta learn to hold ya own
they get jealous when they see ya with ya mobile phone
But tell the cops they can't touch this
I don't trust this when they try to rush I bust this
That's the sound of my tool you say it ain't cool
my mama didn't raise no fool
And as long as I stay black I gotta stay strapped
& I never get to lay back
'Cause I always got to worry 'bout the pay backs
some punk that I roughed up way back
comin' back after all these years
rat-tat-tat-tat-tat that's the way it is uhh

Some things will never change

Oh wow I forgot about this song.  Thanks for posting.  It helps to prove my point what I was saying.  This is one of the good ones there's lots of messages he's trying to get across in this song. :)

Tupac sampled the music of Liberian Girl for Letter To My Unborn Child.
I don't even really like rap music but this is such a beautiful song.

Both Michael and Tupac have some connection to the number 7. Tupac's last album was named The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory.
They also both aware of the illuminati and stood up against them.

People tend to get turned off by his image & don't take the time to listen to him because of that, but Tupac was very wise. He had a lot to say & while he made songs about sex, drugs, violence, etc. he also had songs with a lot of meaning that deserve to be listened to. He did have the some of the same beliefs as MJ & was against the same things. If you read some of his poetry too, you can see it.

Exactly..I think we do him a great injustice by just saying he was a gangster rapper and promoted violence and drugs. The man died at the age of 25! Of course he was struggling with a bunch of things at that age..but just by really listening to what he had to say and not be turned off by image and media bashing you would see he was a wise person with a lot of dept to him... I wish we would've seen what he would've become as he got older.

I wish people would have taken him more seriously & really listened to him & not just write him off as another gangster rapper. I've always loved & respected Tupac, he made songs about the "thug life", that was his image & how he grew up threw him into that lifestyle but he DID have a lot of depth to him. The man went to a performing arts school for goodness sake! & He wrote poetry! I always thought he was attractive & that just made him more attractive to me  He had a very sensitive side too & really had a lot to say. Just goes to show, you can never judge a book by it's cover. (I was a fan of his growing up if you can't tell, lol not the whole violence side, but of him as a person) Michael & Tupac should have made a song together, lol. bet it would have been good & well worth listening to

I think Tupac is still alive, always have thought that and now that I see 25 (2=5=7) I am even more convinced, hahaha. No but seriously, I think he is alive. I never spend much time researching it, but I remember there were lots of strange stories around his death as well.
