Thanx for posting, of course he was singing live, just in the memorial in that same place with the changing of "painSSS" insted of "pain", besides in the Earth Song performance he sounded very emotional  :)  I love him and just can't get enough of him.

I could tell it was live, I could hear a click or clearing his throat before MJ sang "What about yesterday?" I bet he was either backstage or under the stage or maybe up on a catwalk behind the curtain where no one could see him because at the end, Usher pointed to MJ's picture like he was really there.

OMG, you're kidding!.  I've got to listen again.  Amazing find.   So, do you think it might be possible that these were recordings made during TII rehearsals vs. actually being at the Grammies, live?  I mean, he was willing to have all the tech at the Grammies know that he's alive?  I definitely believe he's alive but, what of the possibility that MJ recorded these songs especially for TII?
