Wow I never knew that, interesting..
I could see why he would want the role though, the character of Edward Scissorhands is like Michael in the fact of being judged and misunderstood.

It's a beautiful film. Apparently Johnny Depp 'cried like a newborn' when he read the script. It resonated with him too. I think a part like that requires someone to have experienced some of the themes in real life. So it's interesting MJ was interested too. Johnny Depp also said that he studied Charlie Chaplin films in order to master the art of conveying emotion without speaking, so another link to MJ there.

Yes thats very true, MJ really appreciates the work of Charlie Chaplin. Michael would have done a beautiful job as Edward Scissorhands. He's always been an incredible actor even as far back as before The Wiz. And btw thanks for posting this topic QuirkyDiana :)

Your welcome :) It seems MJ's acting abilities were recognised You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

Obviously ignore the weird and freaky comments......as the article says Hughes never met him, so how does he know? Media manipulating perceptions again

Hmmm Johnny Depp is good and I respect his skills as an actor. However the movie was made in 1990 long before the accusations against MJ. He would have provided more star power so I wonder why his efforts to get the role failed.

Willy wonka was perfect for Michael...I think J.Depp a bit imitated Michaels look in that movie...

THEY lobbied for HIM, not the other way around. Burton would have loved it , but there were  lot of complications that, sadly.made it impossible. When did that get added to Wiki????? It was never public knowledge. I'm glad it is now though....G xx

Interesting...because I LOVE that movie! Every time I have seen it ,even when I was little I thought it mirrored Michael in a way. Funny ,Depp does a soft voice and has an innoncence in that role. Amazing. I think he may have studied Michael (or peoples perception of Michael) for the Wonka role. I dont think that it would have been a good time for him to have done that role (if he ever had thought about it). Edward was differant though, I wonder how many films Michael was interested in that he didnt get? I remember when Hook was coming out,I heard that he wanted to do Peter Pan,but Speilberg got Williams. Dont know if it was a rumor though.

Wiki is so busy lately, lots of interesting info added on some pages.
May the truth be spread G, either through Wiki, YouTube or other channels, as long as it's out there...S xx
