Are you listening? mj poetry important?!?

  • on: January 10, 2010, 06:01:22 PM
Hi :D
First of all, sorry for my english is not my first language.. This is my first post here but i have been visiting MJDHI almost daily since 5 months ago.. you are the best!!!

I dont know if this have been post before.. sorry if it was already discussed.
You all know that Michael Jackson wrote poetry.. Well I was reading some of Michael poems and I found this one..

Are You Listening?

Who am I?
Who are you?
Where did we come from?
Where are we going?
What's it all about?
Do you have the answers?

Immortality's my game
From Bliss I came
In Bliss I am sustained
To Bliss I return
If you don't know it now
It's a shame
Are you listening?

This body of mine
Is a flux of energy
In the river of time
Eons pass, ages come and go
I appear and disappear
Playing hide-and-seek
In the twinkling of an eye

I am the particle
I am the wave
Whirling at lightning speed
I am the fluctuation
That takes the lead
I am the Prince
I am the Knave
I am the doing
That is the deed
I am the galaxy, the void of space
In the Milky Way
I am the craze

I am the thinker, the thinking, the thought
I am the seeker, the seeking, the sought
I am the dewdrop, the sunshine, the storm
I am the phenomenon, the field, the form
I am the desert, the ocean, the sky
I am the Primeval Self
In you and I

Pure unbounded consciousness
Truth, existence, Bliss am I
In infinite expressions I come and go
Playing hide-and-seek
In the twinkling of an eye
But immortality's my game

Eons pass
Deep inside
I remain
Ever the same
From Bliss I came
In Bliss I am sustained

Join me in my dance
Please join me now
If you forget yourself
You'll never know how
This game is played
In the ocean bed of Eternity

Stop this agony of wishing
Play it out
Don't think, don't hesitate
Curving back within yourself
Just create...just create

Immortality's my game
From Bliss I came
In Bliss I'm sustained
To Bliss I return
If you don't know it now
It's a shame
Are you listening?

Join me in my dance, Please join me now!!
Immortality's my game..I return If you don't know it now..It's a shame..Are you listening???

Wow I almost fall of my chair.. I dont know if it is a clue but i think that this poem is really interesting!!
so what you think????

p.s -- sorry for my english. I hope that you can understand what I want to say.

This is really a great poem and the ideas are very interesting. But I don't think Michael wrote this thinking about faking his death. This is about universe and us, our life which is very short when we compare with the existence of the universe. :)

Agreed.  This poem was discussed on an earlier thread.  viewtopic.php?f=17&t=1914

I'll re-post my response below.  Hope it helps!

This poem was published in his book Dancing the Dream: Poems and Reflections, published in 1992.

Many of the poems in Dancing the Dream are spiritual in nature. If you read the lines, you will see that these words have nothing to do with a hoax. He is talking about returning to his creator/bliss. The artist David Nordhal also painted "The Triptych" to illustrate a portion of the poem (it's the 3 paneled painting where Michael is being knighted.) This painting is also featured in the Michael Jackson Opus.

This portion of the poem is in the center panel of the painting:
I am the thinker, the thinking, the thought
I am the seeker, the seeking, the sought
I am the dewdrop, the sunshine, the storm
I am the phenomenon, the field, the form
I am the desert, the ocean, the sky
I am the Primeval Self
In you and I

The poem "Planet Earth" (found on the This Is It soundtrack) is also from Dancing the Dream.

I love this poem, I've read it before.

I have to say that the first paragraph reminds me a little of this:
