I congratulate Bec, Souza, The Jacksonnlogist and Hesouttamylife for their very good post, I really did not think that in America there are many social confilctos, the image that we sell is the "world's most perfect democracy," and that these things only happen in the barrios of Latin America.
Sap from very humble beginnings of Jackson, but did not know such a dangerous environment in which they lived. The truth MJ's life was never easy since childhood and later as an adult.
For years the media handed what I call "the most brutal beating and immoral" against anyone who has seen some, called pedophiles and crazy among other things, and they did great damage despite being acquitted, yet I I've talked to people who think that MJ was acquitted of charges of child abuse that had a lot of money.
Michael Jackson arrived where a black man ever entered. A black man without formal education becomes the most powerful man in the industry, despite the hatred and racism and the media.
Some people believe that MJ is a fragile and manipulable man, I believe there is a very intelligent man, a businessman who can not be manipulated, who knows a lot.
Racism and discrimination are everywhere, although there is racism here is not created, there is a grotesque racism, is low profile and very sneaky. "Like in a country where the majority are metiz?, Where everyone is a mixture of Indian, black with the immigration of Spanish (as in my case), Italian and Portuguese. In recent days I saw a documentary of an independent production company who spoke of raicsmo and discrimination in a noctunes centers, shopping centers east of Caracas. If you are fat, black or indigenous features has not allowed entry, invoking the "reserves the right of admission
I went to these nightclubs, with a few black friends, as well as other friends of Spanish descent (white and blond traits), and indeed, highly trained goalkeepers made excuses saying that my friends could not go by that they had proper clothing and was not by the color of their skin, but my friends and I were allowed entry even though we were dressed the same way.
Much of the racism he says, comments like these, there is no racism in Venezuela, all are welcome here, we are not like the Americans, who if they have marked differences, because our reality is clearly different from other countries suffering major ethnic conflicts. Think about it, do you know people who freely use the word black to describe someone (I'm doing). Often inplicacion is clear in the collective subconscious is recording the idea that being black is bad, worthless and undesirable, therefore describe someone using the word black is equal to offend.
If in their minds, conscious or unconscious, is convinced that is negative to be black, white, Indian, Jewish or belonging to any particular ethnic group, by definition, we are witnessing a racist. In reality the sum of Tiny things seemingly harmless, such as jokes, teasing and other expressions, are based on the premise that being (insert your race) is negative and undesirable. Therefore it is fueling the violation of a fundamental human right, non-racialism

It's funny you are talking about this because I have always believed that Michael's childhood was pre-ordained.  This is an excerpt from a letter I sent to Mrs. Jackson on Michael's birthday.

                ******************************************************************************

..."Thinking about Michael’s childhood, I am reminded that he came from a family of nine children of which he was number seven.  Nine children were raised in a two-bedroom house.  But under that roof were children who possessed talents.  There were children in that house who were obedient.  There were children in that house who had spiritual guidance.  And in that special house with those special children lived one little boy for whom God had special plans. The one who would break the barriers, take the lead, change the world.  It was ordained.  The others would go on about their lives as wonderfully, fulfilled adults.  But one would go on alone, to do extraordinary things.   That one was Michael.  From the beginning it was obvious that his gifts were plenty.   The Bible sates that a child shall lead them.  Michael became a global leader.

People like to say that Michael’s childhood was scarred.  But I believe Michael was positioned in the right family at the right place at the right time to do as a conditioning for the work to be done.  Obedience and resilience is tantamount to greatness.  He didn’t have a childhood for a reason, because God had other plans for him.  How special is one who is forced to live his entire life as a virtual recluse, and still become the greatest, most revered human being in all the four corners of the earth?  How blessed is the one who when faced with these circumstances still has the strength and the courage the ability the will and the knowledge to conquer all that is necessary to build his own world inside a world of which he has never been a normal participant?  How rare is one who’s gifts afford him the opportunity to speak it and it be done?  That’s God’s work?  How gifted!  How marvelous!  Michael’s path in life was pre-destined long before he was born.  He was chosen.  Nothing of that magnitude happens by chance.  He was destined to do great things.  He was in his element when he was being creative.  He found solace in giving of himself all that he had gained from that creativity..."

Beautifully well said, we all have a purpose, and I always knew Michael was chosen
he has multiples on top of multiples of gifts, that God gave Him, but I feel that there is still more for him to do, and if he's not with us anymore, what he left behind will continue you on for years to come, there will never be another MJ, but there will be somebody else that God is gonna raise up! There will be many!

I do want to say that I like this thread and I do agree with most of what everyone said but I just wanted to point some things out.

- I am not sure how the neighborhood in Gary, Indiana is. It is probably not the safest neighborhood. However, and I am not trying to offend anyone, that does not mean that it is a really bad neighborhood 24/7. I am very touchy on this subject because I grew up in a neighborhood that a lot of people would consider "unsafe" where in fact, it's not that bad at all. However, if someone were to drive by it at night, he or she may be scared, depending on who's out and what's going on and what prejudgments a person may have coming into the neighborhood. And it shows you how much the media can affect the way we perceive certain neighborhoods and certain groups of people. (I am not saying that this is what bec is doing at all but I want to make this point in general.) Typically, the news plays this up really well. They'll go on and on about all this crime happening in typically a low income neighborhood where the majority is usually Black but never report on the illegal activities that happen in the suburbs so there comes a mindset that the "ghetto"=to crime and mayhem and the suburbs=to safety and no crime when in reality, it's not that true. It's just that the crimes that happen in the suburbs do not get nearly as much airplay as the ones in the low income neighborhoods because they want to project a certain image of "minorities", especially Black people in America. And it almost becomes a perpetual cycle because some people in these low income neighborhoods begin to believe the image that is being projected and begin to feel powerless and hopeless when in fact, we are all VERY POWERFUL. We can all have the magnitude of greatness as MJ, even greater if we truly believe in our own power, which leads me to my next point.

- Michael is an extremely gifted artist. He was born with the musical gift that many would die to have. And those gifts came from God. However, I don't think it's fair to ourselves to say that he is a gift from God because he lived such a public life. We are all gifts from God. And we all have innate gifts that we were born to have and we all grow up in families that could possibly help bring out those gifts if we choose to. It's just that some of our gifts are not meant to be as public and that's okay. We are all special and vital to this society that we live in. I think the problem, in general, is that we limit ourselves by putting someone else on a pedestal. And I remember a posting that "BACK" (who some people perceive to be MJ or someone in the know)  had in regards to if there were any famous people on the board (MJJC) and he said "Everyone here is famous because they are all well known to somebody." (You can view it HERE: You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login)  And I just loved that because it is so true. We are all human and we are all special.

And that is my speech for the day.

Oh and I just saw the video clip. I love it. I wish I could see the whole speech. Maybe someone else will have it hopefully.

OMG! I wanted to grab a collection plate on this, I agree with you about the neighborhoods, the media portrays all the bad stuff when it comes to us, I live in a town that is predominantly black and when you hear something criminal it's like big news here, caue mostly nothing ever happens here and it's a poor town, I live in what they call the projects and it be soo quiet most days I wanna scream, mostly all you hear are kids, I know a lady who stays in Detroit and she says it's not bad as people think it is, I have a friend in Gary Indiana, and she says she's bored all the time, yes there are some bad places, but that doesn't mean it's just from Black people either!
But that's what the media wants people to think!

I trully believe this as well. MJ WAS chosen...probably since the beginning of time and it was God's decision when and where to bless us with his presence. Michael Is a gift from God..

I agree with you (see highlighted words); however, I feel everyone of us is pre-destined to do great things on this Earth. Unfortunately, most of us miss our mark.  For Michael he has been "spot on" and true to his spirit. If Michael ever wondered why he was so revered and loved by so many people he must realize that he is simply ethereal. He is truly intriguing and mesmerizing; a true quality of character that so many of us aspire to.

As an aside, I must acknowledge the excellent writers who have posted here. I am amazed at the talent that some of you have and admit that it is truly a joy to come here and lose myself in your posts! All of you are spot on and sharing your true spirit with us. For that I thank you!  Keep on keeping on......because I am applauding all of you.

This is hands down one of the very best threads I have had the honor of reading! Thank you all for sharing your thoughts, your feelings, your dreams... it is truly touching! Look how Michael has brought us together, in love and in truth. I can't even express how happy I feel about this  :D ! I really think it's time for all to realize how beautiful and special we really are. We have to banish fear and replace it with our FAITH and with L.O.V.E! It takes courage but it it can be done. I love you all and GOD bless always!

I am not sure about that. He has a wife that wears $500 sneakers to a charity event and has 22 personal assistants to the tune of 2 million plus.

and look at the price MJ paid

Yes! MJ paid a great price but what I admire most about him is that he never forgot his humble beginnings. Many concerts he did over the years all profits went to charity. There will never be another Michael Jackson King of Pop and humanitarian of such a vast magnitude. I just hope and pray that he is safe wherever he is located. Keep the Faith!

Re: ***breaking news*** best evidence yet

Quote from: "bec"
2nd post because I have to add, we say a lot of things about Jermaine, and we poke a lot of fun, but this was a touching speech. He stood up there and spoke not only for Michael and Michael's reputation and legacy but also to America's youth. Jermaine has a positive message here and you can hear the love in his voice. Jermaine chose to speak out and give back and reach out. If one kid hears this and it speaks to them then it was worthwhile.

Please listen to what I have to say. Please read this entire post.

One thing we, yes WE, lose site of, the Jackson family came from very humble beginnings in Gary, Indiana. They truly are the American dream. A poor black family living in a tiny (TINY) house in the murder capital of the US, a derelect town, surrounded by gangs and violence and crime.... Joe shepherded that family to a better life, and if it wasn't for him.... for JOE, we may never have known Michael.

This is Michael's home in Gary. Think about this. Think about growing up here and what it took to become the Michael Jackson we know from these beginnings. Next time you diss Joe, and say hateful things about him, remember that he took his family from here to where they are now. There are 100 million Black families in America living in homes just like this one:

Michael's life could have easily taken a very different path. It happens every day. It happens more often then not. Those who have never been to Gary may never be able to understand. Michael's story is amazing. He came from poverty to rise to the greatest heights of a world icon. Not just a pop star but a global figure. And he never lost track of his roots, he never forgot to give back, he never turned his back on his community. He NEVER walked away and left it behind.

You can go to Gary but you better be careful. Google search it if you're unfamilier. Gary, Indiana is the murder capital of the country. If you are white your best advice is to not stop within the town limits. Not even at red lights. The police may pull you over for running the light but only to tell you the fastest route out of town. It is a dangerous place to be lost in. 50% of the town is abandoned and burned out. Derelect buildings rise to touch the horizon of a town that once was but will never be again. The average income of a Gary family is about $12,000 a YEAR. Crime is rampant. People are killed on the streets. Women are raped in the back alleys. Drugs are sold out in the open in parking lots. Homeless live in the many abandoned buildings. Don't venture outside of your vehicle unless it is to pay tribute to the King of Pop. People are poor and desperate. They live among burned out shells of homes and businesses because there simply is no money, nor will to clean them up. It is heart breaking. All this within site of the Sears Tower in bustling downtown Chicago. The town has been forgotten, discarded, and ignored. Why? Because the Blacks moved in and the Whites fled. They fled the town and took their money and influence and split and never looked back. Worse they sought revenge. Revenge by condemning the town politically and economically.

I urge everyone to research Gary. It is a nationwide shame.

Black America is in crisis. There is a systematic, imbedded culture of racism in this country. If the Jackson family had been white, I don't believe they would be subjected to the criticism that they are. I don't believe they would be the butt of cruel jokes and scrutinization of their every move and word. America loves to see a black man fall from grace. If the Jackson's had been a white family they would have been championed and held up as a shing example of what hard work and perseverance can accomplish. They would be reveared as heros and a model for the rest of us. Michael scraped out an existance for himself that was on top of the world. Is accomplishments, and that of the entire family made him a target in this country. Eyes need to be opened. We need to recognize the ugly truth. Racism is alive and well and it drives this entire campaign of hate against Michael. Racism drives the campaign of hate in this country. It touches all corners of life here, like a cancer. Even our President suffers it's affects. Racism is a disease and it threatens the future of the free world.

We need to make a change. Speak out against hate. Speak out against discrimination in all it's forms. You can do your part. One voice makes a difference. Sometimes one voice is all it takes to turn the tide of perception. Let it be yours.

Well-----whatever color our creator gave us: tears shed by people are all the same kind of salty and all blood is red---until otherwise proven! We should never allow ourselve to be a racist, every individual has that power over him/herself. Emily Hutjes.

Good post 'bec'/Nov 26.  I for one thought that Michael Jackson of all Black Americans, would be immune from thinly veiled racism, but boy was I wrong!  I had not paid much attention to what was going on with him, because basically, I said he's Michael Jackson, the biggest celebrity, most well loved entertainer in the world; he does'nt need me, and besides, he's got all the support he needs.  He has 'transcended' race lol! uh, nope. Oh the horror.   Talk about a wake up call.

This is great in someways.  But as a Michael Jackson Fan, I already knew that he did not do what everyone in the world believe in the media.  His fans stood behind him 100 %.  My theory of all that has happen is the "If you are not there to see what actually happen in Michael home then you can say anything", get it.  How, can you pass judgement on someone if you were not there.  I am so happy that his name is being cleared of so much wrong done to him.  I cannot wait till he return.  I do beLIEve.

LOVE & PEACE

Michael is one of the best loved entertainers in the UK, and since I first got to know him in 1970, I have always thought of him as just Michael Jackson - not a black entertainer - colour has never come into the equation - he is just a fastastic showman, singer, entertainer - and a wonderful man.
