stunt doubles, but i dont think michael used doubles for important events.  i get kinda sad looking at michael from the off the wall/ thriller era because it was a time when he seemed free and happy.  years later it seemed since people did not understand him they tried to make him out to be a weirdo, i cant imagine how michael must have felt     but it still didnt stop him from loving and helping people the way Jesus said to.

I strongly disagree with that. He was far from free around that time. The moment he became angry was the moment he broke free and started fighting.

I dont know him personally but he seemed happier to me, because there were no rumors or lies back then that tried to break his spirit.

Nail on the head. Back then he was on message, so no one HAD to break him. As soon as he broke free they had to get rid of him. Things aren't always as they seem.

interesting . where is it that you get your first indication of the time that he broke free. was it in a particular song or statement or time period. i am still learning about this part of it all.  :?

Mid-late 80's. Listen to BAD for example. And of course the silent black panther dance says a LOT.

Seems to me that MJ has always had those tendencies to fight back.It has been a long time since I saw it, but I'm still impressed by a scene in The Jacksons An American Dream where little Mike is at the table and Joe is there larger than life and he looks over and says with foreboding 'whose shoe is that'. Little Mike gets up to put it away but in the scene you can see his resentment building  and then he picks that shoe up and hurls it at Joe with all his might before running for his life. How courageous for such a little boy to stand up like that and knowing what the consequences would most likely be. So, yeah... he's hardwired to fight back I'd say.
If he wouldn't be like that, he would probably never have broken free and pulled this off.
