Michael Jackson Sued Over Bailout Loan
10/2/2010 7:45 AM PDT by TMZ Staff

When most people get a debt consolidation loan, it's usually for about $20,000 -- but Michael Jackson's was for about $300 million ... and now his estate is being sued because of it.

The lawsuit is courtesy of a financial consulting company that claims it helped Jackson secure the financing back in 2005 to cover his massive debts, this according to the NY Daily News.

In a lawsuit filed in Manhattan Federal Court on Friday, a company in Bahrain claims it is owed more than $1 million for helping Jackson snag the dough.

Jackson moved to Bahrain after his child molestation trial in 2005 facing deep financial trouble.

New Jackson DVDs on the Way, But Not That New
10/2/2010 12:40 AM PDT by TMZ Staff

Loyal Michael Jackson fans will do anything for new material ... and a new three-DVD set will put that theory to the test.

TMZ has learned a new box set called "Vision" will be released on the 47th anniversary of John F. Kennedy's assassination -- November 22. A source close to the estate tells TMZ the three DVDs feature a vast collection of previously released Michael Jackson videos ... and one new video that has never been seen. Yes, just one.

Better be one hell of a video.

Jermaine Commands Michael Jackson Army

10/4/2010 5:20 AM PDT by TMZ Staff

Jermaine Jackson squeezed into one of his old Jackson 5 costumes to perform a tribute to Michael in Vegas this weekend -- but the whole thing could ignite some serious family drama.

While cameras rolled, Jermaine performed a series of Michael Jackson's classics to a packed house at the concert hall at the Planet Hollywood Resort.

Here's the rub -- Jermaine is legally allowed to cover the MJ songs in concert, but if he uses the recorded footage to create and then sell a DVD, album or TV special -- he would need to go through the Michael Jackson Estate to secure permission.

So far, it's unclear if Jermaine did get the green light -- but if not, the MJ Estate could bring legal action against Jermaine to protect its most valuable asset ... Michael's music.

FYI ... Michael's kids -- Prince, Paris and Blanket -- were all at the show.

New Claim: Michael Jackson Supported His Dad
10/5/2010 9:25 AM PDT by TMZ Staff

Michael Jackson secretly supported daddy Joe Jackson ... according to new legal docs.

In legal docs filed in Joe's wrongful death case against Dr. Conrad Murray, Michael's former alleged manager, Leonard Rowe, wrote a sworn statement in which he claims Katherine acted as Michael's agent, funneling money to Joe for support.

And Joe's lawyer, Brian Oxman, wrote his own declaration in which he claims he prepared financial docs for Michael during his 2004 custody battle with Debbie Rowe.  In those declarations, Oxman claims Michael disclosed he was giving Katherine $50,000 a month in the early 2000s and later it went up to $66,000.  Oxman says Katherine used part of the money to pay for Joe's living expenses.

The legal docs are being used in the wrongful death case to prove Joe has standing to sue -- in other words, he must show Michael had been supporting Joe during his lifetime.

Michael's camp had no comment.

Katherine & Joe Jackson Do 'Oprah'
10/11/2010 1:00 AM PDT by TMZ Staff

Katherine and Joe Jackson sat down with Oprah Winfrey this weekend to tape a segment for O's show ... and TMZ has the first photos.

Click here to see the photos: You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

As we first reported, production trucks for Oprah's show were parked outside the Jackson compound in Encino for the better part of Saturday. In the photos, Oprah can be seen meeting with several family members and getting the tour of the house.

We're told the interview focused heavily on Michael Jackson (duh) -- talking about his life, his kids and the book Katherine put together about his life.

No word yet on when the episode will air.

Conrad Murray to Joe Jackson: Objection!!!
10/11/2010 12:30 PM PDT by TMZ Staff

Dr. Conrad Murray is making it clear -- he will fight Joe Jackson tooth and nail in the Michael Jackson wrongful death lawsuit.

In new legal documents -- obtained by TMZ -- Dr. Murray's lawyer, Charles Peckham, is asking the judge to throw out statements attributed to Michael Jackson ... that Katherine Jackson was acting as an agent -- a go-between -- in funneling support money to Joe.

Peckham says the claims that Katherine was Michael's agent -- made by Joe's lawyer, Brian Oxman, and Leonard Rowe, the self-proclaimed former MJ advisor, are nothing but rank hearsay.

For example, Oxman said in legal papers filed last week, "[Michael Jackson] supported his father, Joseph Jackson, by making payments to his mother, Katherine Jackson, on a monthly basis."  Peckham calls Oxman an "incompetent legal expert."

Peckham also claims there is no proof Rowe ever served as Michael's advisor.

Randy Jackson is Noprah on Oprah
10/13/2010 5:30 AM PDT by TMZ Staff

Randy Jackson is outraged that his parents allowed Oprah Winfrey in the Jackson family home for an interview ... because he thinks Oprah tried to put his dead brother in jail.

Randy Tweeted last night that he was beside himself that Joe and Katherine Jackson would invite a woman into their home who tried to poison the jury in the Michael Jackson molestation trial.

Randy notes ... Oprah did a show on pedophilia during jury deliberations and, as he puts it, "That was no coincidence."

Randy goes on ... "She is the last person on earth he [Michael] would want around his children."

Randy says he had no idea the interview was going to take place and thinks his parents made a bad mistake.

Judge Slams Conrad Murray and Joe Jackson
10/13/2010 10:55 AM PDT by TMZ Staff

The judge in the wrongful death lawsuit Joe Jackson filed against Dr. Conrad Murray lashed out at both sides ... saying they both screwed up.

Judge John Walter denied Dr. Murray's motion to dismiss the case, concluding Murray's lawyer, Charles Peckham, violated court rules by not trying to resolve the issues with Joe's attorney before filing his motion.

But the judge also said Joe's lawyer, Brian Oxman, was slow on the uptake in filing his opposition papers ... missing the deadline.

But the judge's ruling isn't permanent.  Murray's lawyer is allowed to refile.  We're told Peckham will call Oxman -- who almost certainly will tell Peckham to go screw himself -- and then Peckham can refile his motion to get the case thrown out.

Jackson Estate: Holy Crap, Lawyers are Expensive!
10/13/2010 4:21 PM PDT by TMZ Staff

The Michael Jackson Estate just filed legal docs for lawyers who have worked for MJ pre and postmortem ... and the amounts are pretty breathtaking.

When you add it all up, the legal bills come to $5,185,757 (we didn't add up the cents).

The biggest single charge -- $1,259,289 from a law firm that never got paid for legal work it did when MJ was alive.

Some of the bills are for services Michael never paid for during his lifetime, but a number of the charges are for the last 6 months of legal work.

Everybody loves Michael Jackson these days ... especially lawyers.

MJ -- Controversy Over Elementary School Exposure
10/14/2010 12:40 AM PDT by TMZ Staff

Michael Jackson's name is taking center stage in a controversial cover-up ... one involving kids, an elementary school -- and a group of MJ fans looking to literally clear his name.

It's all over a building once called the Michael Jackson Auditorium located at Gardner Elementary School in Los Angeles -- where MJ attended classes back in 1970.

Michael's name was proudly displayed on the building from 1989 until 2003 ... when in the wake of the molestation allegations, school officials used plywood to cover up the words Michael and Jackson.

But an MJ support group claims it's an unfair punishment since MJ was never convicted of any wrongdoing ... and after he died, they launched a campaign to uncover MJ's name on the building.

And the campaign appears to be working -- so far, they've obtained more than 2000 signatures -- and got a meeting to plead their case in front of the school board next week.

The Board of Education confirmed the meeting -- but had no further comment.

Michael Jackson's Name Restored to School
10/16/2010 5:12 AM PDT by TMZ Staff

Michael Jackson's name once again is on display at Gardner Street Elementary School after the boards covering his name were removed.

As TMZ first reported, a group of Michael Jackson fans had petitioned to get the sign uncovered. The sign had been in place from 1989 until 2003, when it was covered up due to the child molestation charges against Jackson.

The sign was unveiled yesterday, where a member of the Los Angeles Board of Education said, "It's important for the district to value the artistic impact and humanitarian contribution that will be the lasting legacy of Michael Jackson."

Joe Jackson -- I Want Half a Billion Bucks
10/20/2010 12:15 PM PDT by TMZ Staff

Michael Jackson's dad, Joe Jackson, wants somewhere between $10 million and $500 million from Dr. Conrad Murray to compensate him for the loss of his son's support ... this according to new documents obtained by TMZ.

In the docs -- part of Joe's wrongful death lawsuit -- he claims the money he seeks is in "the realistic range of provable damages."

Joe says 20% of his damages are for loss of support, 40% are for emotional distress and 40% are for "loss of comfort, aid, society and companionship."

And this is huge ... Dr. Murray says he's broke and can't settle anything because his insurance company is refusing to cover him.

Joe's lawyer, Brian Oxman, also says he may take the depositions of more than 60 people who have info regarding Jackson's death.

Dr. Murray says in his new filings he does not want to sit for a deposition until after the criminal case runs its course.  It's a whole 5th Amendment thing.

Joe Jackson: Why I'm Suing Murray for $500 Mil
10/23/2010 12:30 AM PDT by TMZ Staff

Joe Jackson is now revealing why he put a $500 million price tag on his wrongful death lawsuit against Dr. Conrad Murray.  His theory -- "The more you go, the less you get ... so I went high."

Play video: You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

During Joe's interview with GOOM Radio -- in which sported some severely oversized MJ bling -- he said Dr. Murray was just "the fall guy" ... and that a lot of other people were to blame for his son's death.

Joe also took issue with our story that he was following Oprah Winfrey around like a puppy dog during her sit-down interview with the Jackson family earlier this month ... but you'll have to watch the video for the lowdown.

Joe Jackson -- Stay Out of Your Son's Estate
10/26/2010 12:20 PM PDT by TMZ Staff

Joe Jackson's days of meddling in his son's finances are officially over -- the California Court of Appeal has ruled that Joe has no right to intervene in Michael Jackson's estate.

Joe had been fighting to have a say in how MJ's estate is administered -- despite the fact that he was excluded from the will Michael signed in 2002.

But today, a panel of judges reinforced the decision the probate court made back in November -- that Joe lacked the proper standing.

Just how Michael would've wanted it.

MJ estate attorney Howard Weitzman tells TMZ, "We are pleased, but not surprised" at the Court of Appeal's ruling.
