Quote
Michael Jackson Commemorated, a new full-leangth feature film, was released in 150 theatres in Japan on June 25th, the one-year anniversary of the superstar's death.
The footage was shot by Marc Schaffel, a former Jackson business associate. The footage was originally intended as a pilot for a reality series that never happened. It was the first and last time Michael Jackson agreed to wear a microphone to record him candidly. Cameras accompany the legend as he tours the inside of his childhood home in Gary, Indiana for the first time in over 30 years. They also showoff the spectacular grounds of Neverland Ranch as never before and they even capture a mischievous Michael as he orchestrates a food fight with Carter brothers, Aaron and Nick. Flamingo Features hopes to sign world distribution rights for Michael Jackson Commemorated after its wide release debut in Japan.
"Audiences are given a unique chance to be up close and personal with Michael and to feel the true essence of the genuine love and adoration he felt for his fans," said director Austen Tayler.
Tayler, director and screenplay author, is the first American female director to release a full-length feature film commissioned by Japan. "I am thrilled to pave the way for more American female directors to be recognized and hired within Japan's typically male reserved entertainment circles," said Tayler at this morning's announcement. "Japan continues to be a homogeneous society so it's still somewhat difficult for women to get their voices heard but it's vital we keep trying."
Tayler has released several film works throughout Asia including the award winning "A Tribute to Pavarotti" and the 45-part music series "Beyond the Ballad." Michael Jackson Commemorated is her first full-length feature film. The projected box office is expected to exceed $50 million USD.

I haven't seen it yet and I'm not sure if it was posted already. If so, let me know.

It's very worth it to see all parts of this documentary.  I loved it. I think it makes you feel even closer to Michael.
I was also a little sad because clearly this was before the trial and you see the hopefulness and energy and plans to expand his brand... he talks about his brand and new ideas in the clips that show his 45th(?) birthday. Although, I think you see some of what he's talking about come to fruition now, but he did not deserve to be derailed for even a second and that makes me sad.

I was a little perplexed because very clearly this documentary commemorates Michael and is very adoring and loving.  But, with Schaffel's involvement, if he and MJ were no longer in partnership, did Schaffel do this as a peace offering or he and MJ had already mended their friendship?  I realize that this was intended for a reality show and at that time MJ and Schaffel were cool, but why did he remain involved now?

Hmm...  so, Randy is speaking of this documentary?  or you think perhaps so?
Who is Austen Taylor, exactly.  I can't find much on her.  I know that she's executive producer of Material Girls but, what's her history, does anyone know?  How did she get involved with Michael?
