Ok, so most of the work is done, I only need to change some details and I have to add the proper categories to the forum, fo keep using this forum please.
The site works almost exactly like Facebook and you will have to walk through all the settings and pages to see what the features are. Don't use the forum yet (only for test messages now) but set up your profile, make blogs, add videos etc. Everything you will do on the site (except on the forum) will be saved and used if I transfer it to the main website. So don't just mess around, because else you will have to clean up your own mess later.
There is also an option to upload music, with a max of 6MB per file. You can then share this playlist on your profile etc. You have 100MB free space, if you have reached your limit, contact me and I will see if I can give you more, but of course not just to add more music.
Just like with Facebook, you can set things private, only for friends, for everyone etc. Make sure that all HOAX related things (groups etc) are set to everyone, any off topic or personal things (BE CAREFUL WITH PERSONAL THINGS) can be set private.
The forum will have less categories once I'm done setting it up and will be simple. Reason is that I only want hoax investigation on the forum. Everything else can be added as groups, where things can be discussed too, or on blogs. There are many different categories to choose from in all features. Always fill in as much information as possible. If you are not sure, ask me.
Anyway, my purpose is to change the forum into a lively website where all features will be used. And this is also a nice way to have stuff off of the forum that annoys people. If you want to talk about gold pants so badly, make a group for that and invite friends that are interested in that. That way people who are not can easily ignore it.
Stretched theories where someone needs 'feedback from others' also can be put in a group, and discussed in that group because a forum is attached to every created group where different topics can be posted.
I will make an instruction post later when I have time. For now please sign up (yes, you have to register again) and test it. If the platform can handle the members, then there is a big chance I will transfr this to the main website and set this one as an archive.
If questions, please post them in this thread so that I or another member can help you out.

Type in your username, just "curls". It names the link to your profile to http://www.michaeljacksonhoaxforum.com/hoaxbook/profile/curls, instead of http://www.michaeljacksonhoaxforum.com/hoaxbook/profile/124623764.

Just a small question: this forum is giving us the " recent updated topics" feature. In hoaxbook I can't find this feature. Is it something we're going to miss along with the smileys?

Can I just say, if I'm ignoring anyone's request to be my friend, it's nothing personal, it's just that I don't know how much I want to get into the whole Facebook-type thing. Just my personal choice, and not a criticism of those that do.

I encounter problems with the website all of a sudden.
Website "throws" me out. All is well and then, after some time, suddenly I can´t like posts, can´t comment, don´t see the chat window and then I am logged out - even though I did not log out :icon_lol:

Strange... Which browser do you use? Have you tried to delete coockies?

I use Mozilla Firefox. Will delete the cookies now. Let´s see what happens after that.

i also have problems sign in..The link in my e-mail does not work..and i uploaded the wrong picture :icon_redface:
I had to register again i understood?? because it said it did not know my e-mail.
What to do???

I did this with MissG and I got the error message
"Profile addresses must be alphanumeric."

Question: once this forum is closed, what happens with the pm´s already in the box?
They stay in your inbox, if I get them transferred. Shouldn't be an isseu, but if you have important things in your inbox, I would back it up if I were you, just in case.

I did this with MissG and I got the error message
"Profile addresses must be alphanumeric."
Did you type just "MissG" or did you add the whole link? You should type only your username.

In these days I am in a place where I have a lot of difficulty to connecting ( is the vacation country house and here I don't have the ADSL but I use the internet key :computer-losy-smiley: ). I'm trying to load the page , I hope to do it soon... :icon_rolleyes:

I am typing only Adi in the box as per instructions.
I keep getting the message as well that "Profile addresses must be alphanumeric".
Also once it came up with a message saying "profile names must be at least 4 characters long". However I have noticed other members with shorter profile addresses than mine who managed to sign up.
Any ideas to help me please?

So I have still been trying to register all morning using Adi in the Profile Address box and still getting the same 2 messages as I wrote above. I don't understand why my name is not working.

Looks amazing! Can't really use and test it to its full potential until I get my laptop, too hard on iPhone.

@ curls - If you edit your settings to hide most of your personal details even friends won't be able to see the details. I have edited mine as I prefer to keep this stuff personal. But you'll find you get more out of this site when you have more friends as you'll see more. Just edit your settings to the degree of privacy you prefer.

You're signing up for a new account there so you can pick whatever password you want.

Ok......think I got it sorted...had to put a different name in that box and then I enter Adi as the username when i set up the profile...just awaiting my confirmation email. :icon_e_biggrin:

It wasn't accepting Adi as it was too short and when I tried ~Adi~ or any other combination it said I needed to use alphanumeric so. So I put AllyB in the box and it accepted it - then it goes through to another page to set up your profile where you can enter a Username so I put Adi there.
I hope I am making sense? lol

Hi all, well I'm in, and will need to get used to it once it is up and running. One comment is that in my email, I am told to click on the weblink, but weblink doesn't go through with point and click, need to copy and paste in a new tab--minor inconveniences...

Go to your profile. You will see a blank box where your cover image should be. In the upper right corner of that box you see a button "change cover image". Click on that and a window will open where you can select a pic from your pc/laptop. Choose the pic you´d like to upload and then safe. However you need to make sure that the image has the right size. The system will tell you if it hasn´t got the right size and what the right size is. You might have to resize it then.

Re: Mary's comment above, if you are on iPhone iPad or other handheld android you won't gave access to this feature. It will be greyed out

Not a criticism, but will the look of the old forum be permanently like this? I don't know what has been changed but I am now finding it harder to differentiate between peoples posts. I know the orange sides have also gone and it is all looking a bit white and pink for me. Is it to match up with the new Hoaxbook colours?

Good morning/day/evening my hoax family. I so happy to be here with you. This has been very challenging for me, I am glad I am not alone. I am trying to get use to the new forum and starting to have fun with it. But I am glad we can still have this forum also. :bearhug: I love these smileys!

Just testing this out. I think it's good that we have a new but old forum along with the hoax book. This forum setup is much easier to navigate too.
