MICHAEL JACKSON'S DEATH
Fans Send 10k Roses
to MJ's Gravesite

Over 10,000 roses were sent to Michael Jackson's final resting place today -- marking his 3-year death anniversary -- all courtesy of some very devoted fans.

A MJ fan group based in L.A. tells TMZ ... they used social media sites to raise money from fans all over the world for the memorial project ... finally collecting over $30k.

All that green bought a lot of flowers ... over 10,000 roses were delivered to Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, CA today -- where the King of Pop was laid to rest in 2009 -- all to honor the late-singer on the anniversary of his death.

What's more -- we're told the roses will be put to good use and recycled after today ... over half will be sent to senior centers and other places where they can be used to make people happy.

Michael Jackson died June 25, 2009 ... he was 50.

Roses? Why not sunflowers?? They are very pretty though and I'm glad they will be put to use afterwards and not just thrown away.

p.s. I love the monkey on the left in picture #4

Think if all that collective energy and resources were put towards feeding the homeless or brightening the lives of kids with cancer, in orphanages around the world, etc. Instead it's spent on flowers for a believed dead man.

MJ Anniversary -- The Flying Helicopter Flower Dump!
With the two-year anniversary of Michael Jackson's death approaching -- one helicopter company is giving fans the chance to pay their respects ... by raining flowers down around Neverland ... mid-flight.

The 30-minute Channel Island Helicopter flights are set to take off June 24th and 25th -- exactly two years since Jackson died after a Propofol-induced cardiac arrest.

During the flight, passengers are encouraged to honor the late entertainer by chucking his favorite flower -- a red rose -- out of the helicopter mid-flight ... over nearby Zaca Peak.

A rep for the helicopter company tells us -- fans are super excited for the aerial tour ... saying they feel it will bring them "closer to heaven" ... and closer to Michael.

That's what I was thinking too - all that money raised could've been a donation, in Michael's name/honour.  The flowers are a beautiful gesture, but the money could've been put to better use and remind people of Michael's own generousity.

I agree - the money would make a lot of difference in someone's life however, the visual is quite stunning and makes a huge statement about the love Michael's fans have for him. And that is nice to see.

I don't know what to say about it except that it warms my heart to see, that even after 3 years, Michael is not forgotten. Not even a little. I'm sure it must touch Michael's heart too.

Hugs and blessings

Voice, I agree!  When you love someone, you want to show in a tangible way. Some send a card, or do some artwork. We send messages of love to MJ here. The helicopter rose dump only had the one use of the flowers, whereas this one at least gets a double use. It’s like saying people everywhere should not give Christmas or birthday gifts because they could have given to a charity.  I totally understand the emotions of the fans who did this. This gesture also sends a strong visible message to the world through this TMZ news article and anywhere else it is posted, that there are millions of people who truly love MJ, and believe he is not only innocent, but that he gave so much to the world!  There is SOOO much money wasted everywhere by the billions, but this gift of love is so beautiful!  IMO

Valerie: I know there's no way I can convince you this is not one of their tricks, but I don't care, I am me. My name is Valerie, I don't think I'll live much longer and I wanted to tell someone about my life. This is the only autobiography I'll ever write, and god, I'm writing it on toilet paper. I was born in Nottingham in 1985, I don't remember much of those early years, but I do remember the rain. My grandmother owned a farm in Tuttlebrook, and she use to tell me that god was in the rain. I passed my 11th lesson into girl's grammar; it was at school that I met my first girlfriend, her name was Sara. It was her wrists. They were beautiful. I thought we would love each other forever. I remember our teacher telling us that is was an adolescent phase people outgrew. Sara did, I didn't. In 2002, I fell in love with a girl named Christina. That year I came out to my parents. I couldn't have done it without Chris holding my hand. My father wouldn't look at me, he told me to go and never come back. My mother said nothing. But I had only told them the truth, was that so selfish? Our integrity sells for so little, but it is all we really have. It is the very last inch of us, but within that inch, we are free. I'd always known what I wanted to do with my life, and in 2015 I starred in my first film, "The Salt Flats". It was the most important role of my life, not because of my career, but because that was how I met Ruth. The first time we kissed, I knew I never wanted to kiss any other lips but hers again. We moved to a small flat in London together. She grew Scarlet Carsons for me in our window box, and our place always smelled of roses. Those were there best years of my life. But America's war grew worse, and worse. And eventually came to London. After that there were no roses anymore. Not for anyone. I remember how the meaning of words began to change. How unfamiliar words like "collateral" and "rendition" became frightening. While things like Norse Fire and The Articles of Allegiance became powerful, I remember how different became dangerous. I still don't understand it, why they hate us so much. They took Ruth while she was out buying food. I've never cried so hard in my life. It wasn't long till they came for me. It seems strange that my life should end in such a terrible place, but  for three years, I had roses,   and apologized to no one. I shall die here. Every inch of me shall perish. Every inch, but one. An Inch, it is small and it is fragile, but it is the only thing the world worth having. We must never lose it or give it away. We must never let them take it from us. I hope that whoever you are, you escape this place. I hope that the world turns and that things get better. But what I hope most of all is that you understand what I mean when I tell you that even though I do not know you, and even though I may never meet you, laugh with you, cry with you, or kiss you. I love you. With all my heart, I love you. -Valerie
V for Vendetta (2005) - Memorable quotes (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0434409/quotes)
  Scroll near the bottom.

(Just an aside, the "autobiography on toilet paper" above, made me think maybe it's another reason why TMZ pictured all the toilet paper at the Murray trial.)

This extravagant love gift also reminds me of the Bible story in John 12.

Quote
12 Then Jesus six days before the passover came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, which had been dead, whom he raised from the dead.
2 There they made him a supper; and Martha served: but Lazarus was one of them that sat at the table with him.
3 Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment.
4 Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, which should betray him,
5 Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor?
6 This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein.
7 Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burying hath she kept this.
8 For the poor always ye have with you; but me ye have not always.
Isn't that the truth... :icon_cry:

I participated in sending the roses because I saw that they gave them to hospitals and senior citizens homes, etc. last year in Michael’s name which I think is awesome.

To the idea of collecting money for a charitable donation on Michael’s birthday, count me it when this commences.

This group (or it may even be one lady) had a well organised charity donation blog for MJ's birthday 2010 and 2011. I tried to email her to see if there's anything planned yet for this year, but the email address is no longer valid.  I'm not on Facebook or Twitter, but maybe someone else might fancy contacting her - if you like this idea. Details are here:

Wow I wonder where are all these sites that over 30k worth of roses could be gathered? Does anyone know these sites, & who was the biggest contributor of the $$$$? Just seems odd to me to find that many people to have that much $$$$. Something seems odd to me about this big dollar amount on the 3rd anniversary. What's so special about the 3rd anniversary that fans would contribute this much? So next year, maybe 40k, & 40,000 roses, & it goes up every year?

What’s also interesting about this project is that last year it was headed by another group who had fans send their money $3.00/rose to a paypal account in his/her name.  There was some accusations that the fan(s) did not spend all the money collected on the roses but kept some for themselves.  I believe the count of roses last year were 4,000 plus.  This year, someone else headed the project with the goal being 7,000 roses (which obviously they surpassed).  The account this year was in the vendor’s name for the same price per rose.  The ensuing twitter battle took place when last years organizer accused this year’s of charging too much since there was no overhead being that the money was going straight to the vendor.  She alleged that the roses were $1.75 or $2.00/ea and the extra $1.00 last year was to cover overhead charges.  This year they were sayng that the vendor still had overhead with packing, etc.  They battled openly on twitter and even got the vendor involved.  It will be interesting to see how this goes down next year which is the one that’s most relevant to me (4 years).  I get where they both stood on the issue but to see it fought in the public like that with name calling etc. was scandalous  :affraid:

For this, I am sincerely hoping that Michael will be very, very late!!

He will be the last one to perform.
The best is yet to come in this "late-night show".

There's only one with a "last word" in a book.

Oh and didn't we have 4,000 roses last year?
Multiplied by 2.5 this year?
Is it scary yet how fast the number goes up?

Roses? Why not sunflowers??

Hi, SEHF!

You don't know me, but I have been at this forum a very long time.  I am just not posting that much these days.  I wanted to say, that when I looked at your "Profile", and I saw that you are now using my avatar, I was touched and proud!  Not sure if anyone else sees this "PEACE Sign on Earth" when THEY look at your profile.   I haven't been able to make my avatar work on this forum since the last major forum overhaul!  Better that someone, such as yourself, who seems quite MAG-nificent and tech-savvy, can make THIS avatar (which has become such a part of me) work... for YOU!

Take care of yourself!

Most of these fans are anti-hoax.  They believe he’s dead.
I think what Grace is saying here is: why is there a hyphen?
Exactly Grace and Mary, the meaning of the words with and without hyphen changes  :icon_e_wink:
There is a saying about someone who is always late for things (as in, not on time):
"Someday he/she will be late for their own funeral"

For this, I am sincerely hoping that Michael will be very, very late!!

Thankyou Souza,

But, with all due respect, when I go to SEHF's profile on MY computer, and I look at the rolling commentary (which hasn't been rolling so much lately!), why is HIS avatar on the rolling commentary part, now MY avatar? And, I have asked others, they are seeing the avatar placeholder on their computers in this rolling commentary part.

Pleading ignorance here.
