New Album Is the Cause

The Jacksons don't want to put the cart before the horse, so the group has cancelled their first two concerts because they've been busy recording their new album ... TMZ has learned.
The group announced this week they are canceling shows in Louisville and Cincinnati, which a rep for the band chalked up to "scheduling conflicts."
But a source close to the Jacksons tells TMZ the brothers (Jackie, Jermaine, Marlon and Tito) want to finish their studio album before they hit the road so they can perform the new tracks on tour.
We're told the Jacksons want to make up the missed dates, but nothing is planned so far.
The tour is scheduled to (probably) kick off on June 20 in Rama, ON, Canada.

yes very reminiscent of TII-- and using the excuse of finishing recording before going out on tour: granted that's the usual M.O., but first I recall hearing about recording an album; and twitter and tv interviews have all been about rehearsing for the tour, and performing previous hits from J5. Whole thing reminds me of Jackson Family Dynasty too where the brothers were supposed to go on tour with 2 whole weeks of rehearsal --didn't get through one rehearsal, and "pulled out". So my question is how does it all fit? Besides keeping the name in press and so forth, what purpose does it achieve???? :icon_question:

Yeah - it seems odd. When you look at that link Souza posted above, they haven't cancelled one block of dates in a row, or pushed the entire concerts start date back - they've cancelled dates here and there, in a disjointed fashion all over the place. So how does this equate with finishing the album before the tour starts? Doesn't make sense.

Haven't they learned yet not to put the horse before the cart? They really play a major role in making themselves appear unorganized and back woodsy.
