Now I am one of the few teenagers in the world who listen to the Bee Gees and Robin Gibb is now in a cona suffering from pneumonia, colon and liver cancer. He might only have a few days left in this world, but a lot of Bee Gees fans are praying all around the world. So lets hope that he pulls through this and that he'll be "Stayin' Alive"

I am a Bee-Gees fan from way back and love them dearly. Praying for Robin, that what ever happens, he is free of pain and at peace and that is surrounded by nothing but love. :icon_cry:
-
Yes I have always liked the Bee-Gees as well. This is so very sad. He is only in his early 60's. My heart goes out to Barry. He has already lost two too many brothers.
-
I am also a Bee-Gees fan. I am sure that this disease has taken its toll, which is very sad. He and his family will be in my prayers for healing but also that he suffers no more pain, is able to enjoy whatever time he has left on this earth, and that he's able to share and be with those he wants to be with.
I bet this weighs heavy on Michael and those who are close to the family. They will also be in my prayers.
Have a blessed Sunday everyone. Hug your loved ones - tomorrow is never known.
-
I remember this song very well :(

This is very sad news.
-
His brother died of the same twisting of the intestines...heart-breaking.
To Robin - My prayers are with you; you've brought much joy into this world. Never stop fighting!
But if it's your time, may an angel lift you up painlessly, to be with your twin in Heaven.
With much love, and fond memories, and prayers - a little girl hugs you tightly from the past, with a peck on the cheek.
-
@Everlastinglove... I've posted the same song as you today too, without knowing this unfortunate news, what a coincidence !!! I am sorry to hear that Robin is in a coma, I'll pray for him !!! :-\
-
This is terrible news. Seems like the Gibb brothers are cursed. This would be brother number 3 to die much too soon. Let's hope he will get better though, but it sounds very serious. I'm a HUGE BeeGees fan.
-
I am a huge Bee Gees fan as well, I am so sad over this news about Robin and his struggle with this disease and now a coma.... My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.
-
I'm not an huge fan, although i like theyre music.

I love this song! My prayers with the Gibb family.

This is so beautiful Tink. :icon_cry:
I'm not a fan of the group but this is so sad and tragic. My thoughts and prayers are with him.

Tink... sweet message.
I haven't seen any updates on this sad news. Praying he pulls through.

Sad news :-\
-
The Bee Gees are a column in the history of modern music.... :icon_e_sad: I'm so sad for this news, for the man... :icon_cry:
-
:icon_cry:
"Don't cry alone" - what a tragedy! Performed by Robin only recently. He was full of hope and new energy for his project "The Titanic Requiem".
His brother Barry and Michael singing together: " All in your name", an amazing song, with Michael singing like an angel.
Praying and hoping for a wonder, but seeing Robin's wife leaving the hospital in despair is heart-breaking.
-
As long as he doesn't go into renal failure - he's fighting! When in a coma, you can hear those around you, and as long as you talk to them, read to them, you provide an anchor to reality for them. It helps. It's literally in God's hands now.
-
This is so very sad. My Heart goes out to Barry, and the whole Gibb family.
I am sending you the Blue Angel of Healing, so that she may heal your heavy Hearts, and watch over Robin.
With all my LOVE. God Bless.
-
Barry and Robin's kids have been singing to Robin, in hopes that will give him an anchor to wake up. That's really intelligent, and one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard people doing for a loved one!
Hang in there, Robin. For everyday you hold the line, 'tis another day's worth of healing.
-
They just announced on the radio while I've been driving, that Robin's partially awake!! It may not look good in the long run, but he can respond to his loved ones - which is improvement on any level.
This shows that Robin is indeed fighting hard, against all odds. There are of course, many people in the world like him, but he's one we can relate to, so we are. I believe in fighting, even when it looks hopeless to others - because that's when it takes sheer willpower and love from those around you to make a difference.
They've found out that when a patient can visualize rounding up the cancer cells in their mind, and obliterating them - it really does reflect in reality. And this is what I'm hoping is something similarly happening here. The mind is a powerful thing.
Whatever happens, Robin - many are praying for you; so take that prayer energy, and cocoon yourself with LOVE that is freely given to you; take strength you need from it, while you are weak. Because that's what it's for! curses aren't real, so don't let that drag you down.
A little girl's butterfly kisses on the cheek, and a big hug to you!
-
Tink, I so know what you’re saying. I am reading a book “Dying to be me” by Anita Moorjani that gives so much hope for people who are battling end stage diseases. She had suffered from cancer for 4 years, really suffered, and was at the end stage where her body was shutting down with the cancer having spread all through her system. She lapsed into a coma where she describes still being able to hear and had an awareness of everything around her but not being able to react to anything. She descibes an out of body experience, recalling how she felt so light and free and no pain, not any. She heard the doctor telling her family how it was too late. that her heart was beating, but she was not there. Hearing her family crying and wondering why because she had never felt better in her life. She describes it as being a purely joyful and jubilant. And how she could actually feel what her family was going through. She says her essence continued to thrive as life was leaving her body, and that she finally learned what heaven was about. She was given the choice to continue on the beautiful journey to death or she could come back. She came out of her coma a new person. She regained her strength and all the cancer was gone. She declares that she is not afraid of dying anymore and neither does she worry anymore about those who have gone on before her because she knows the journey and it is hard not to continue on because you become one with the universe and it all finally makes sense. I believe in miracles and I feel a lot like she does because I have had a near death experience myself. Not to the extent that she did, but very close and I can attest to the fact that it is as she describes. Let me quote “I believe that the greatest truths of the universe don’t lie outside, in the study of the stars and the planets. They lie deep within us, in the magnificience of our heart, mind, and soul. Until we understand what is within, we can’t understand what is without.” “This is a book that definitely makes the case that we are spiritual beings having a human experience …and that we are ALL One”. It lies within us to make the choice. If Robin is strong enough to turn back, then he will pull through. But it is hard not to go when everything that awaits is more beautiful than anything you’ve already seen.

@hesouttamylife - That I do understand, as I died in the OR last November when the Versed & Propofol stopped my heart stopped. I did take a peek on the other side, and that's why I actually came back! I realized I was making a very grave mistake; my work here wasn't done. I also didn't want my comics & toys tossed, as they should be read by children.
We are One, I can vouch for that. But some of us need our Other half, in this physical lifetime. I came back so he didn't pull a Romeo over my Juliette, for my finally just letting go.

:icon_lol: I hear ya on those comic books. God forbid I should leave this life without finding a guardian of all my Michael Jackson memorabilia. :icon_eek: to think what could happen to it keeps me constantly searching for a museum that will honor his legacy and cherish his things. Anyone give me a heads up on that one? Tomorrow is not promised… so soon please. :smiley-vault-misc-150:

My horror collector friend, Forey Ackerman, found someone before he passed. He got some of the money up front to secure the collection. The rest was paid to his widow.

Haha yeah my MJ collection which I have collected over 7 years and spent over €300 on is priceless to me, the same with my Harry Potter collection ;D When I die, I hope somebody takes care of it and doesn't let it go mouldy and get broken because I will personally haunt the person who destroys my MJ collection

Robin Gibb wakes from coma
Bee Gees singer Robin Gibb has regained consciousness after slipping into a coma, according to the BBC.
Spokesman Doug Wright says Gibb is able to nod and communicate with his family.
The 62-year-old fell into a coma last week after contracting pneumonia. Gibb was hospitalized last year for stomach and colon problems. He has not specified the exact nature of his illness — widely reported to be cancer — but had told the BBC he had a growth on his colon removed.
News reports Friday said Gibb's children, wife, Dwina, and brother Barry, had been singing to him, in hopes of waking him from the coma.
Robin's twin brother Maurice Gibb died in 2003 due to complications from a twisted intestine. He was 53.
His younger brother Andy died of a heart ailment in 1988. He was 30.

Guess the angels, or the H.S. itself has been busy - Andy Gibb confounds doctors with his recovery thus far:
London (CNN) -- Singer Robin Gibb has "confounded" his doctors by emerging from a coma just days after they thought he might not survive it, his physician said Sunday.
Days ago, Bee Gees star Gibb was in a coma and battling pneumonia, the latest turn in health issues that include a recent battle with colon and liver cancer. Now he is "fully conscious, lucid and able to speak to his loved ones," Dr. Andrew Thillainayagam said in a statement.
"He is breathing on his own, with an oxygen mask. He is on intravenous feeding and antibiotics. He is of course, exhausted, extremely weak and malnourished. Our immediate goals are to ensure that Robin's swallowing mechanism is safe enough to allow him to eat and drink, and that he recovers enough strength to breathe effectively, without needing high levels of oxygen by mask."
When that happens, he may be moved out of the intensive care unit at the London Clinic, the doctor said.
"It is testament to Robin's extraordinary courage, iron will and deep reserves of physical strength that he has overcome quite incredible odds to get where he is now," Thillainayagam said.
2002: Bee Gees and 'Saturday Night Fever'
The good news comes just three days after Thillainayagam warned Gibb's family "that I feared the worst.," he said. "We felt it was very likely that Robin would succumb to what seemed to be insurmountable obstacles to any form of meaningful recovery. As a team, we were all concerned that we might be approaching the realms of futility."
"The road ahead for Robin remains uncertain but it is a privilege to look after such an extraordinary human being," Thillainayagam said.
Gibb's wife Dwina and children Robin-John, Spencer, and Melissa have been at his bedside every day, the doctor said.

Am I alone in thinking this coma and miraculous recovery story was written by a certain someone we know and love, but that it never really happened?

miraculous recovery ? i missed that . seems to me as i have observed in this life that the turn for the worst followed by the sudden improvement is more often then not just before the end. ( sorry if that upsets anyone) it just always feels to me like restoration takes place before we leave this place. just a personal observation. then again i do believe that miracles can take place.
-
I watched helplessly as my father slip into a coma - and I pray no one here ever has to go through that nightmare - and fall into renal failure (when the body systematically shuts down), and was gone the next day.
That's why I mentioned as long as Robin doesn't slip into that, he has a fighting chance.
As for the "end?" I'm not God; I shan't pretend to be a soothsayer, and hand out predictions over people's lives. I've oft felt that it really depends on how much pain the person is willing to take - because it's an awful lot.
I've also had a cousin with stage 4 cervical cancer, spontaneously go into remission last year when she was given only months to live.
I used to not believe in miracles - until I saw them with my own eyes. The Spirit of God is quite strong, and is not for us to say what it can, or cannot do. God has no limiter.
@suspicious mind - sometimes that happens, sometimes it doesn't. Regardless, they get to spend time with him AWAKE, and cognizant! Something I was robbed of, with my father. It's priceless, whichever way you slice it.
@gwynned - you're entitled to your thoughts.
-
So happy to hear this very good news... I wish Robin full recovery and much love.
@Tink: sorry for the loss of your father and the difficult time you've been through. I hope you've given these memories a place in your heart and you think back peacefully :bearhug:

It was that way with my own Father's passing who we nursed at home. I am forever grateful for the time this afforded for snuggling up to my Dad and just talking. Everything that needed to be said was said. However, I too hope that Robin just gets stronger and stronger, but if that's not the case, this opportunity to speak to his loved ones is still a blessing.
-
@RK - I'm glad you had that time.
I pray Robin truly turns around - it's nice when someone does.
-
@gwynned - you're entitled to your thoughts.
Tink, part of your comment disappeared!!!! :WTF:
You followed this with a suggestion that my skepticism could lead to health issues and I was going to respond with 'I NEED A DOCTOR!!!' but apparently no need now.
-
@gwynned - You don't need a doctor, lol. :D
-
Robin is back home since yesterday!
-
Fantastic! I am so relieved that he pulled through this. There is a song that is called "The Leaning Tree" that comes to mind when ever I hear of miracles like this. The first line of the hook is: "The leaning tree is not always he first to fall." That is 100% truth if ever I heard a truth in my life. So happy for him and his family. Keep standing, Robin. There is life yet to be lived. Heaven can wait.
-
It's a great joy !!! Wonderful victory Robin !!!! :bearhug: :th_bravo:

What a great news! :) I'm glad he's ok now!

Will, determination no matter how much pain - sometimes, people just can't take the pain. But if they are, then perhaps a miracle can come their way, and help to turn the tide - for as long as they are happy to live...
Robin Gibb told doctors he ''wants to live no matter what.''
The Bee Gees' star has colon and liver cancer, and doctors feared he could die after he contracted pneumonia and sipped into a coma, but his wife Dwnia says he has never stopped fighting.
In an interview with The Sun newspaper, she said: ''The doctors asked Robin if he wanted them to do everything in their power to save his life - or if he felt the time would come when enough was enough.
''He told them, 'There will never be a time when enough is enough. I want to live no matter what.''
Robin astounded doctors by waking up from his coma earlier this week, and is now able to chat with his family, including brother Barry and son Robert-John and breathe with the aid of a mask.
After being diagnosed with liver cancer, the 'Stayin' Alive' singer underwent chemotherapy and was thought to be in remission, but things took a turn for the worse this year when he was diagnosed with a twisted colon - the same ailment which killed his twin brother Maurice in 2003.
The bowel then became perforated, leaving Robin with just a ten per cent chance of survival.
Dwina added: ''I said, 'If we just sit here and not let Robin have the operation, he will be gone in an hour.'
''RJ said, 'Dad is going to pull through this. I know it'.
''So they began the operation, with the warning that he might die within 20 minutes.
''Those were the worst 20 minutes of my life.
''I sat there praying. Then the doctors came in and nodded. He had made it. They told us he would be on a ventilator for three days - but he was off it within hours.''
Soon after Robin was diagnosed with pneumonia, and Dwina, Barry and Robert-John started a constant vigil at his bedside. While he is now awake, Dwina admits he is far from cured yet.
She said: ''We have to take each day as it comes. Robin has been seriously ill. Every time I go to hospital to see him, I am so happy to be there, so happy to see him with his eyes open and talking.''
-
Knew he would pull through it, that man truly is a fighter! :)
