Title: Kanye's shocking version on MONSTER
Post by: gwynned on January 01, 2011, 08:14:11 AM
This was released on 12/30 and described as a 'rough edit for KanYe's video for MONSTER.  Curious.  Another MONSTER song involving another rap artist?

Prepare yourself.  This will shock you.  Guaranteed.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h3q975eAYGY (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h3q975eAYGY)

I would have dismissed this entirely except for a couple of things.

Jay-Z is in it and he's with Beyonce and she is allegedly Michael's friend.

LunaJo67 posted a video with a speech by KanYe which made me stop and rethink him. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W7D22WFbvRI (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W7D22WFbvRI)

George Bush's response to Matt Lauer's question, what is the worst moment in your presidency in which he said 'When KanYe West called me a racist."  I have to keep asking myself WHY would he say such a thing?  It almost seemed to me he was FORCED to say that.  Why KanYe?

Vigilant Citizen's analysis of another video in which KanYe appears to be a part of a Masonic initiation.  The cover art shows a severed head with a crown and a sword through it, KanYe apparently being the KING who was killed.  Another King?  http://vigilantcitizen.com/?p=4576 (http://vigilantcitizen.com/?p=4576)  (Lots of Egyptian stuff!)

Finally, at the end of the video, Kanye repeats, "Let God Decide."  which reminded me of what Michael says repeatedly in We've Had Enough.  Only God can decide, who will live and who will die.

Any thoughts?

Satanic garbage !!!!!!!!!!!

Do not click on this youtue video, it's disgusting IMO.

I cannot fathom that this would have any link to MJ even if he is a friend of Beyonce, please !!!!  and don't say it could be some sort of awareness thing.

I have to admit I only watched the first 50 sec of this and shut if off, my eyes and ears have had enough of this waste of time music and videos they call art....was there a relevant message?  maybe I have no clue about the Rap world ???  I guess I don't care to know.
I doubt this is a relevant topic and wish this was never posted here.
I was disgusted with Lady Gaga now add Kanye to the list !!!

grrr...

Why am I not surprised by this...
I mean, dark side has always been told, written, song, painted...You can be frighten, you can boycott...it's out there and it's part of the world.
I guess this Mr West foudn a wave to ride, having some "dark side" marketing, and youtube video to be censored....

I don't find it very surprising, and i don't find it very interesting in the end.

The sound is good, the lyric makes you feel "errr" and i think that's the main purpose of it.
Will i create an account on youtube to watch the video ? NO, because i'm not a pyramidal marketing victim ! Will i get some money on the album this guy is gonna sell  ? NO, because the difference between making "marketed sound" and making "music" is called "TALENT"...

I don't really think there is more to add about this guy, whatever supposedly secret society he could belong to...all i see about him is making money about a controversial image.

imo this video is showing what the world has turned kanye into "a monster". he is giving the people what they want. they call him satanic and a monster so he will let them see that. the world just cant seem to come to terms with that he is only a man. a man that speaks truth is always said to be evil. look at mike the majority of the world still believes he is a child molester. god forbid you speak up about injustices because now your possessed by demons and working for satin. i think the world needs to reevaluate how it defines good and evil because as i see it right now evil is good and good is evil. i do believe it is time for change.

It did. Even more than that it made me sad. *sigh* When there's no skills to make people pay attention to you otherwise - as in being a great songwriter or such other true talents - use the shock value.
In this video, not only the violence and perversion, but secondarily this video had racial and sexist issue. All the victims were women and all the victims were white or lighter skin toned that their offender/master. I only watched it once and didn't hear the lyrics properly, but I'm not that interested to read them.

Since people have seen so much over these past few decades in tv and movies, to get past the ever-bigger immunity to violence and perversion means you need to present MORE violence and perversion to cause shock value. Gaga in her flesh dress, and now this KanDude with this vid (and the other video with MJ's head).

These kinda people, attached to these sick and perverted values, are force fed down the throats of the masses by constant and massive exposure. Wear flesh, and even the main stream media writes about you.

AND, now that I've just seen how people behave like animals on Black Friday (*). To think these people watch and idolize GAga and Kanya and the values they present...  what a combination

(*) Black Friday, another thread: viewtopic.php?f=90&t=16875&sid=9433ddfa9a72a562fd75a8a18f0edcba

Very insightful.  MJ in his version complains of being turned into a monster.

Whenever I hear anything about Kanye, I think of BACK's posts about him. For those of you that don't know, BACK was a member of the MJJC forum that many thought was MJ or at least someone from his camp. He posted from 2005-2010. Here is what he said about Kanye. He's basically saying that Kanye is arrogant, but talented and that he is in fact on MJ's side. I personally think that Kanye acts like a Jack A. most of the time, but maybe that's how the media likes to portray him?

"Believe it or not, Kanye West is the younger version of Quincy Jones. Tons and tons of hits over the last decade have had his magic applied to it. In the past few years he's gotten recognition as a rapper, but he's been producing good sh*t WAYYYY before now. Trust me, MJ has real talent, although arrogant, in his camp." (then a smilie)

Here is a link to 3 of his posts about Kanye.

Very interesting.  I didn't realize MJ HAD a camp, though I have been a bit suspicious of late that there were/are competing forces in the  music industry.  But it IS the final curtain call, so we should expect some interesting developments, and twists and turns in the plot.

One last thing.  Last 4 lyrics to KanYe's Monster:

and I’ll-I’ll let God decide-cide
I-I wouldn’t last these shows
so I-I am headed home

I never liked Kanye's music, him also as a singer, the lyrics are scary. I certainly did not appreciated when Taylor Swift was getting her award, he goes in and said that award was suppose to be for Beyonce no Taylor. Ok who died and made you in charge? I do not follow his music at all, and i will never  do.

I agree with you!  He also has a song where he basically says that he knows how people are maimed and/or killed for the "blood diamonds" in Africa, but he will still wear his diamond bling anyway because that is his style.  Way to throw Africans under the bus Kanye!

Curious about that Taylor Swift incident.  Why would Obama feel compelled to comment?  Why did he do it?  It screwed up his career.  Is he just a jerk, or was he conveying the truth?  Taylor has moderate talent (at best).  Who made her cinderella?

As far as wearing diamonds, well at least he raised awareness.  Maybe his diamonds are not blood diamonds.  Who knows.

I don't know why Obama commented or even what he said, but the bottom line is that Kanye RUINED a very important moment in Taylor's life and career.  Maybe Beyonce should have won but she didn't.  Taylor won and Kanye ruined the moment for her.  Don't get me wrong, I'm not a super Taylor fan either, but there was NO EXCUSE for what Kanye did to her.  And no Taylor is not Cinderella, but she didn't deserve what Kanye did.  What "truth" are you getting at?

If Kanye had really wanted to raise awareness about blood diamonds, he could have just simply issued a statement about the travesty of it or even stop wearing diamonds himself.  I would hardly call that song "raising awareness" about the issue.

imho kanye only told the truth when he so called ruined her moment. not only was she not better than beyonce she wasnt better than anyone in that catagory. she wasnt that well known compared to the others. so bottom line is once kanye took the stage it basically made her extremly popular if you check you will find out that she made tons of money after that incident her album went off the charts and now she is one of the leading artist out there. so in a way she should be thanking him for giving her a boost.

Kanye talks about the whole Taylor Swift thing in one of the videos in the first post of this thread. It seems like he is trying to be as vocal as he can about how things work in the music industry. Check it out....it's pretty interesting. It's towards the very end of the video...but the whole video is good.

It just shows you these days anyone can make a song and become a celeb overnight, nobody really appreciates good music anymore...I agree that TS wasn't the best song but that's just my opinion, nothing against her, but it seems popularity seems to be at the forefront of things instead of making it about the music...and that video creeped me out...like in where is the love by BEP..."What's wrong with the world mama?",lol...bad is good...good is bad, period paragraph.

Taylor was actually quite successful in her music genre well before the "Kanye incident", thereby leading to her win in the first place.  She doesn't need to thank Kanye for anything.  The bottom line is that Kanye had yet another one of his childish rants at an awards show, and he deserves every bit of the subsequent backlash that he has endured.

Getting back to my original post, does anyone have any theories on why both artists would almost simultaneously come out with a song called 'Monster' and an album cover in which they appear with gold crowns on their heads.  MJ is holding a sword and a sword is driven through Kanye's head.

If this is not a coincidence, what is the meaning?  Or am I too far adrift?

Maybe Kanye didn't know about Michael's song before recording his(?).  Are they on the same label?  If not, maybe neither label knew about the other one's song or album cover before the covers were completed.  The crown on Michael's cover seems fitting since he is considered the King of Pop, but I don't know why Kanye is wearing one.  Has he ever been depicted wearing a crown before?

It is odd.  The only thing I can think of without viewing anymore filth my eyes do not want to see is that it is an example of good vs. evil, God vs. Satan, who will people believe?

Now, maybe Kanye has a message, he has taken extreme measures to show the world imo and I don't care to watch the video again, but the other thing that came to mind is be watchful for those that come to you in sheeps covering and inside they are ravenous wolves.

Question - the article didn't depict MJ holding a sword, so was that in the video?  Is that something Kanye did or the video maker??

The sword can be seen on the cover for Kanye's Power CD

http://vigilantcitizen.com/wp-content/u ... 523954.jpg (http://vigilantcitizen.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/kanye-west-power-cover-art-11-e1282177523954.jpg)

Also there are lots of swords in the actual video for Power.

Another thing.  Just stumbled upon Kanye's lyrics for Jesus Walks.....Here's a portion.

To the hustlers, killers, murderers, drug dealers even the strippers
(Jesus walks with them)
To the victims of Welfare for we living in hell here hell yeah
(Jesus walks with them)
Now hear ye hear ye want to see Thee more clearly
I know he hear me when my feet get weary
Cause we’re the almost nearly extinct
We rappers are role models we rap we don’t think
I ain’t here to argue about his facial features
Or here to convert atheists into believers
I’m just trying to say the way school need teachers
The way Kathie Lee needed Regis that’s the way I need Jesus
So here go my single dog radio needs this
They say you can rap about anything except for Jesus
That means guns, sex, lies, video tapes
But if I talk about God my record won’t get played Huh?
Well let this take away from my spins
Which will probably take away from my ends
Then I hope this take away from my sins
And bring the day that I’m dreaming about
Next time I’m in the club everybody screaming out

(Jesus Walks)
God show me the way because the devil trying to break me down
(Jesus Walks)
The only thing that that I pray is that my feet don’t fail me now
(Jesus Walks)
And I don’t thing there’s nothing I can do now to right my wrongs
(Jesus walks with me… fades)
I want to talk to God but I’m afraid because we ain’t spoke in so long

gwynned, thanks for posting those lyrics.  I'm too afraid to study Kanye now

I still don't get the picture...I see the word power above that sword, not MJ.  Are we seeing something different and I'm in the twilight zone?

oh my, I just understood what you meant       Okay, so is Kanye's album cover something against Michael?

I don't have the answer, though when I first saw the cover some time ago, I felt he was threatening MJ.  I have since changed my mind, not the least of which because of an earlier post that linked MJ to Kanye.  In researching the cover artist, I stumbled upon this press release about the Power CD:

Quote
Numerous information regarding the release has surfaced since then, including Nicki Minaj as the British narrator, seven tracks from My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy serve as the score, Michael Jackson is a main inspiration to the production and that Selita Ebanks is the co-star.

It doesn't prove anything, of course.  But here's something that Kanye said in response to rumors that he had named himself as the new King of Pop after MJ's death.

Quote
"I WAS JUST LISTENING TO WENDY WILLIAMS AND HEARD SOME QUOTE ABOUT ME SAYING I'M THE NEW KING OF POP," Yeezy wrote Friday (July 31). "NOT ONLY DID I NOT SAY THAT, I HAVEN'T SAID ANYTHING. IT MAKES ME FEEL BAD THAT OBVIOUSLY I MADE PEOPLE FEEL THAT I WOULD BE CORNY ENOUGH TO SAY SOMETHING SO WHACK AFTER THE PASSING OF AN IDOL, A LEGEND AND MORE THAN THAT A HUMAN BEING WITH FEELINGS AND FAMILY. IT SCARES ME TO THINK WHAT PEOPLE WILL BELIEVE, WITHOUT EVEN A SOURCE. ANY RANDOM PERSON CAN TYPE SOMETHING ON THE INTERNET AND THEN THE WORLD BELIEVES IT. I DON'T TALK TO PRESS OR DO TV OR DO PROMOTIONS OF ANY SORT. I'VE STOPPED CHASING AND BUYING INTO FAME. FAME IS LIKE CIGARETTES WITH NO SURGEON GENERAL WARNING. IT DESTROYS MOST PEOPLE AS IT DID TO THE TRUE AND ONLY KING OF POP. WE EXPLOIT OURSELVES AND EAT OUR OWN EGOS 'TILL THERE IS NOTHING LEFT. I HAVE A FEELING THAT THIS WON'T BE THE LAST FALSE STATEMENT WITH MY NAME ON IT, BUT THIS WILL BE THE LAST TIME I DEFEND MYSELF. I'M DONE." (Kanye West's Blog)

Sure sounds like he's a friend of MJ's and not a foe.  There is a message here and a connection.  Another piece of the puzzle if you will.  Just not sure how it all fits in.

"Good" music doesn't exist. It's a matter of the perspective. One person's music, could be another's trash. I tend to listen to older music myself (Frankie Beverly, Marvin Gaye, Tammi Terrell, etc.) even though its way before my time. But I respect Kanye West as an artist, because he is talented. He's an amazing artist, I think. He's just got a head too big for his shoulders.

I don't believe he's Satanic or anything like that. But I do think the public has driven him into a corner, where he's lashing out. People say rude things about him all the time, and it seems his anger is put into his music. That's why his music has feeling. Anger.

Good points. I also find it funny that people are quick to say Kanye is satanic because of his songs and videos yet call Michael a saint even though they both have very similar elements in their music.  If Michael came out with Thriller today, would you say he's satanic too?

I see now that the video has been pulled.  Curious.

As for Kanye saying he was the King of Pop, the video is merely heresay - someone reporting on what Kanye allegedly said.  See my earlier post in which Kanye responded to these allegations.

I have to disagree they have similar elements in their music but maybe I do want to believe Michael is a saint  :)
Thriller did not contain devil horned people, blood and murder so no I wouldn't say it was satanic, then or now.   Wasn't thriller about zombies????

I have to think some of this is rumors and stupid false press. There was some mess started back in the day about Jennifer wearing the lit up outfits when she played guitar for Michael. People saying because one of her outfits had horns Michael was in to Devil worship.

Maybe Kanye's video is merely depicting the darkness that he has gone through?  I think the notion that Kanye is satanic is rather absurd (and I can't stand the guy!).  I also don't see where he is against Michael.  On the contrary, I think he respects Michael.

I am on the fence about the King of Pop thing though.  Part of me thinks Kanye is the one who put that out there, and then when he realized how much backlash there was about it, he came back claiming he never said it or even felt that way at all.  We will probably never know for sure, but it is definitely not beyond the scope of his massive ego.
