MJ must have been wearing a lot of makeup that day because his face is very white compared to his chest... which looks lovely! ;)

Really white neck and face and hands!!! I wonder if MJs still actually black and has just been fooling us all for years!! Maybe he still looks the same ..... Just a weird random thought sorry.....

A truly strange photo.. why would MJ pose for this i wonder.
Not only is he posing with a doctor who is listening to his heart... he is exposing the fact that he has white makeup on his face and hands because his chest much darker and natural in comparison.

That photo is clearly from the late 80's or early 90's. You can tell because he's wearing Ray-Ban's, which he did at that time. (http://www.sunglassesid.com/index.php?m ... el-Jackson (http://www.sunglassesid.com/index.php?m=sunglasses&g=Ray-Ban-Wayfarer-Michael-Jackson)) It also looks either overexposed, or there was a flash used very close to MJ's face, making him look even lighter than he was. He's wearing similar pants here in 1990:

He has vitiligo, which causes blotches on his skin. Some parts looked his normal dark color, others appeared more white. He would wear makeup initially to even out the color of his skin. I've read more than one article where he said that at first he could wear darker makeup, when there weren't as many light blotches. But once the vitiligo worsened and there were more white blotches than black, he'd wear lighter makeup to match that skin tone. Then later he would use a bleaching ointment or cream that is common for sufferers of vitiligo to use, which also helped create a more even, uniform skin tone. People accused him of wanting to be white, but he was simply trying to create an even skin tone.

Exactly, larab. And the same flash effect is evident in other places besides Michael, such as the doctor with the stethoscope. You can barely tell where his face ends and his shirt starts as a result.

It's quite simple. He had spots due to the vitiligo. The parts that would be visible on stage were covered with make-up, to hide the spots. The pic is obviously overlighted and the skin with make-up will reflect more of the light than the skin without make-up. Remember this picture, the flasher, the camera and the make-up are old.

As far as the skin tone, I think the above explanations a quite apt.
The reason for the doctor being there w/ the stethoscope is quite simple- being the energetic performer that Michael has always been, he needed to be monitored because performances are brutal- especially the way Michael toured. They had to make sure that he was healthy and hydrated.
This is standard procedure with performers and athletes.

You are correct, but I think some ppl may have skipped over your post because their still determinining what is wrong with him...LOL :roll: ! As far as his blanco face, please look at his right arm as well as the Dr.'s face and hand and you will see it is the same color...I am sure it is due to the lighting in the studio as well as it being an older pic, someone scanned it and brightened it...nothing to concern yourselves with... ;)

You're right. It's a photo taken while the heartbeat for Smooth criminal was being recorded in 1987.

(and, yeah I think Michaels hands and face have pale makeup on them to even out his skin tone, but his chest and upper arms appear makeup free.. but the camera person was too close and the flash makes him seem sooo pale, but if you were standing right in front of him he wouldn't look so pale.. that's jmho...)

i think it is the flash of the camera also, as the doctor is also white....
i will say though, my son who is 22 now started with vitiligo when he was about seven years old....
and what shocked me about it is its just like bleach has just been splashed on his arm and it is very white, he has fair skin, but this is really white.. :o
fortunatly he has very little, he only has it on one arm, but with michael he had his spread over his body and his skin was darker he did need to even it out with make-up...
it is very cruel when people say about him bleaching his skin...i get so annoyed it is very difficult to deal with whatever colour your skin is.... :(

I can't see from this photo MJ's pants. MJ is sitting down, I can't see his legs? Is this the recording of the heartbeat we hear on the SC record? I didn't think for a minute it was MJ's actual heartbeat? Did the producers speed up the heartbeat artificially because I can't imagine MJ's heart going that fast at rest?

I also saw the same picture in facebook michael jackson videos and photo collection. I think the pic was from bad era. the pants were the same one he used in 1994. MJ often repeat clothes.

That was back then,MJ had a lot more spots then covered areas.Now and what you saw in the TDRCAU footage was later,and vitiligo spreads very fast.Michael actually has vitiligo,but he does wear a lot of make p to cover it up there,but not now because he has NO pigment anymore.There,it just wasnt spread to his chest from what you can see.

I discovered this picture a few days ago and got really, really turned on, it's that hot! But are the pants not from the Bad video? He was shooting the video anyways while recording the album, so it makes sense.

Well.. havent you thought that maybe the vitiligo started on his face and hands? It got worse on his hands and face first before it finally took over his whole body? thats what i think. Or maybe he only did his hands and face because no one would really see his chest, but his chest looks pretty even to me so maybe they just did simple touch ups there. Im pretty sure he's wearing a tshirt and the flash reflected off of it and onto his face.
