A Great Anti-Mind Control Group
May 15, 2010, 10:11:07 PM
They often get overlooked as just another good techno-duo.
Their messages are some of THE BEST.
Their songs and videos teach about
television controlling your mind, brainwash, being servants to "The Man", and being your own person.
Who are they?
Daft Punk.

1. The Concerts.
They aren't at the bottom of the pyramid.
They're (almost) at the top.

2. The Music.
Their CD "Alive" is amazingly blunt when it comes to their messages. Songs like "Brainwasher" and "Television Rules the Nation" are self-explanatory. Also, the songs are very repetitive, most likely to get the message into your mind.

3. The Videos.
In this video, the girl is watching T.V, but everyone there is a skeleton. Whichever channel she turns to, skeletons are doing everyday things. She (of course) does not look like them, and starts to feel self-conscious. She looks at herself in the mirror, and doesn't like what she sees. So she goes to her bathroom and starts to cut off her face, piece by piece, until she is a skeleton like the ones she sees on T.V. It is a very strange and strong video, so beware..

Also, in the video for one of their most well known songs, Technologic, a robotic baby is shown sitting in front of a T.V while words flash on the screen, which it says after they are shown. Then the baby and the band members, who act as it's parents reassuring the baby while it's watching the T.V, are shown in a room full of pyramids.
This one is also pretty creepy, so as said before..

4. The Movie.
Electroma is a film about two robots trying to become human.
They are show driving into a town in a Ferrari.
The town's denizens are also shown to be robots physically identical to the two main characters, but at different ages, with different clothing and alternating gender. They drive to a high-tech facility where they are covered with liquid latex and molded to look like humans. They want to be human because they are tired of being robots. When they leave the facility, they wander around the city strutting their new faces, but the other robots are pissed. In a dramatic scene, the townsfolk are shown chasing them through the streets, while the sun melts their masks. They hide in a bathroom where they discard the ruined masks. They then hike to across desert flats. After a while, the silver robot takes off his jacket and reveals a switch on his back. The gold robot flips the switch and a timer starts. He then starts to walk, but doesn't get far until he self-destructs by exploding. The gold robot tries to do the same, but can't reach his switch. He finally kills himself by smashing his helmet, and lighting himself on fire with a glass shard and the sunlight.
In general, they'd rather die than be robots.

5. Interstella 5555
Interstella 5555 "is a feature-length Japanese animated musical film originally released on December 1, 2003". it was shortly shown on Cartoon Network. All the music and sounds were made by Daft Punk.
In the story, a blue-skinned group is shown playing a show to a similarly blue audience, They are all happy and having a good time ("One More Time" is playing) when a team of troops led by a single man kidnaps the group. A man named "Shep", who is a fan, hears a distress signal and tries to save them. During a chase, they all get sucked into a wormhole and appear on earth. The kidnappers get away and Shep crashes.

In an underground facility, The group is unconscious and they are re-dressed, and they are brainwashed. Their memories are rewritten to what the man wants them to think. They are fit with mind-control devices and are painted and dyed to make them look like humans. They are taken to a recording studio and are named "The Crescendolls", and "One More Time" becomes a big hit. Shep sees what has happened to them, and tries to help. He helps some of them them escape whatever is controlling their minds, but the bodyguards mortally wound him. One character, Stella, is still under their mind control. She is taken to an awards ceremony where she escapes.

Before Shep dies, he reaches out to Stella, where she experiences a dream sequence where she sees their true identity. After he has passed, the group takes him to a forest to bury him. After the burial, they see an old Mansion that Stella feels she has seen before. There, they happen upon a journal titled Veridis Quo that describes what the villain (who's name is "Earl")'s plans are. They find that he would unleash his power to rule the universe when they sold 5,555 records to reach Gold Record #5555. They then realize that it was their record, and the record THEY made would power the machine. They free themselves from the guards and destroy the Record. They then escape.
They return to the record company and try to steal the master copy of "One More Time" but end up getting shocked by the guards. This turns them back into their alien form. Police investigate EVERYTHING and they send them back home. While returning, Earl's essence attacks the ship, but Shep saves them from beyond the grave. Then all is well, and everything ends with a giant concert, showing Shep as a hero.

I've also noted that one of the band members looks a lot like "Light Man"..
I'll try and add more later.
If you have any more information, feel free to post it.
 ;)

This is a good group, Loma!   :)  I was introduced to them when my brother and I watched the premiere videos on the old Cartoon Network Toonami Tv block (The anime music videos set to the songs "One More Time", "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" and "Digital Love", using footage from an old anime movie named Interstellar 555, notably! I need to watch that movie someday    )  :D  :D  :D  8-)
This was about 7 years or so ago.

Here's one of the videos!  8-)  8-)  :)

Thanks for the comments guys. :)
I have done some more reasearch, but haven't come up with much.
What I did find is that they are doing all the music for the new movie "Tron".
I'll pay close attention to it and write about it later. ;)
