i dont know about stewards with needles.. i dont think they have needles in their first aid box..
You are not even allowed to have a little scissor in your hand-lugage.
But hey Murray is a doc, maybe there are other rules for doctors.
Btw never heard about saline solution drips in first aid kits.
They do have AED on board. (Automated External Defibrillator)

Found info.. the DO carry first aid kits with needles.

There are two kits.  One that the attendants can use and one that only medical professionals can use.

That must be why they put a call out for a doctor:

Each first-aid kit must be accessible to the flight attendants and include:

    * bandages
    * compresses for applying pressure, moisture, heat, or cold
    * antiseptic swabs
    * arm and leg splints
    * tape
    * scissors.

An airplane's medical kit must be accessible to the flight crew, but is for use only by medical professionals. It must include:

    * blood pressure cuff
    * stethoscope
    * plastic airways to deliver oxygen to help with breathing
    * nitroglycerin tablets for chest pain
    * dextrose solution for hypoglycemia
    * epinephrine for asthma or allergic reactions
    * injectable diphenhydramine HCl for serious allergic reactions
    * hypodermic needles
    * protective latex gloves.

I'M A LOVER, NOT A FIGHTER

i think it is possible for airplane emergency equipment to contain iv and saline solution. especially on long flights, people might suffer from dehydration, so that woud be the quickest way to help that (that might have even been the whole problem...you dehydrate, you faint -> weak pulse). it's just funny that they always call for a doctor and don't have plane staff to be able to do that. what if there is no doctor on the flight? they shrug and don't do anything and let someone die cuz nobody could insert an iv? i seriously doubt that. so that 'calling for a doctor' might even be staged in the first place, especially given the fact that murray is not an unknown person and they could have just walked up to him and ask for help instead of waking the whole plane up. they cannot tell me nobody recognized him, i'm not gonna buy that. this guy is 6"6' tall, and his face has been all over the news for a solid year. it's not like one can say 'i didn't see him'. so i guess, a drama had to be created somehow...

but the whole image is really funny, supposedly noone recognizing murray and when his call comes, he jumps off to SAVE A LIFE BY INSERTING AN IV...quite the opposite of what he's accused of, but: same action - opposite effect! naturally, this is for one purpose only, to reinstate murray's qualities as a doctor (yes, he CAN save a life, too) and to prove that he's fo' real and not an actor. this is one more mark on his 'good doctor' scale, which is gonna have to weigh in heavier than the bad part for him to get off scott free. and it happened close to the trial, possibly when he was on his way to l.a. for that reason. a recent good deed, in fact, a heroic one...how convenient... :roll:

I'M A LOVER, NOT A FIGHTER

Maybe what TMZ is saying is this:

Murray was with Michael when he noticed that Michael was faint. One of Michael's children was there. He (Dr Murray) jumped up out of his chair, reacting very quickly. He checked him (Michael) and found him to have a weak pulse. He inserted an IV as he (Michael) had been complaining of being dehydrated the day before. Medical help arrived and transported him to a hospital. His (Michael) condition is unknown at this time?

I also find odd that someone could take a picture of him IN the plane and then so quickly get it to TMZ? If I were a passenger, the last thing I would think about is getting that photo to the press. Hmm...will have to think about this some more. I don't know if the story is to be taken literally.

excerpt from the linked tmz-article on p.1:

TMZ spoke with the woman, who tells us she got lightheaded on the flight and "fainted for like 30 minutes." She says she came to with an IV in her arm and Murray standing over her. She says he told her, "You probably know me ... I was Michael Jackson's doctor."
