That was a wonderful video.  I had heard that Michael was a friend of Fred Astaire.  I think he had mentioned that was one of the reasons why he did not want to grow old, because of what Fred Astaire looked and felt like.  I might be wrong about that, I could be thinking of someone else.

Yes, when Michael performed Billie Jean, Fred Astaire called him to say he was a great dancer ;) I don't know if they were friends after that, but Michael was really inspired by him.
I also love this video, which really reminds me of Michael's inspiration

I read Moonwalk lately and he said that he was inspired by fred Astaire and when he first did Billie Jean at Motown 25 Fred Astaire invited him to his house for dinner and he told MJ that he is keeping watching that performance again and again and he complimented Mike.
Our Mikey was so happy after that

No doubt he was paying tribute to another legend...did you notice the hankie fred picked up of the ground?  It was the same hankie MJ picks up in Billie Jean...LOL...I think MJ liked this movie alot...even in the Billie Jean days.  Its around 2:20
