About the Telepromters.....
April 30, 2010, 03:56:43 PM
I remember a thread going around about during TII mentioning telepromters at the bottom of the stage while michael was performing.... just randomly talking to a friend of mine who used to work at events.... concerts and all that stuff, and he was mentioning all the shows he worked on, and he mentioned Rod Stewart and i was like " i wouldnt mind seeing him live" and he mentioned that Rod had to wear 2 ear pieces while performing.... as these were playing him the words in his ears..... mainly because he had soo many songs he wouldnt be able to remember all the words.  and that got me thinking.... Michael had more songs than Rod, and Mike was 50 at the time, so maybe he needed the words to try remembering the songs..... since he hadnt toured in over 10 years.

i was going to find the thread that it was mentioned in but u couldnt find it

Most likely. To be honest I can totally understand singers needing a little bit of help..i mean they do have like a ton of songs and they probably would get a little thrown off track during a concert with all the intense yelling, lights, cameras etc. Even though this was just rehearsal MJ was using them at.

But remember that musician on the movie who said that Michael knows every note and every word to his music. Maybe he had it as backup..

It's kind of unusual to use autocue during gigs, especially for artists who have performed their own same songs dozens of times before.  I only saw one autocue in TII, positioned on the right side of the stage, while the whole stage was used to perform on.  In case autocue is used, it's normally centrally positioned and the artist moved within reach of it.

I had assumed they were to help out the dancers, since I mainly noticed the teleprompters during Wanna Be Startin Somethin. They could have been useful for the J5 medley too. I don't know if their microphones are even really on (which goes for past tours as well) but that was just how I thought of it.
