I can't help but be reminded though, the Jacksons keep promising things to the city of Gary and then never follow through. There seems to be a track record of behavior with broken promises regarding Gary. I don't have any idea why, except to say that Gary's political system is fairly... uh... screwed up, so I do wonder if that has something to do with it.

Examples of broken promises: Michael Jackson dance accademy promised, never happened. Grant for Michael Jackson museum, never happened. Commemorative plaque at the family home site, never happened.

If you go to the family home in Gary, there is ZERO way of knowing that it is the childhood home of the King of Pop. It's quite odd. Not even a simple little sign. Nothing.

Not that it matters or means anything, just random thoughts.

It IS sad.....I think the Jacksons are very aware of their beginnings and where they come from and have never turned their back ontheir old neighborhood, so I dont think it has anything to do with broken promises on the Jacksons part...its probably like Bec said....the political system is screwed up.

That's pretty keen observation. There are other celebrities whose hometowns have all sorts of markers to let visitors know that someone famous once lived there.

There should be Michael Jackson dance studios  and music schools located throughout the state for goodness sakes. :lol:
