Conrad Murray Charged in Michael Jackson Death

Posted Feb 8th 2010 2:31PM by TMZ Staff

Dr. Conrad Murray has just been charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of Michael Jackson.

According to the criminal complaint, the D.A. alleges Dr. Murray "did unlawfully, and without malice, kill Michael Joseph Jackson ... in the commission of an unlawful act, not a felony; and in the commission of a lawful act which might have produced death, in an unlawful manner, and without due caution and circumspection."

Dr. Murray will be arraigned today at 1:30 PM. As we first reported, he will plead not guilty.

Dr. Murray is expected to show up at around 1:00 PM, accompanied by his lawyers and a bail bondsman. Bail should be set at $25,000.

Dr. Murray administered Propofol to Jackson just before he died, and the L.A. County Coroner's Office has determined Jackson died as a result of acute Propofol intoxication.

If convicted, Dr. Murray faces a maximum of four years in prison.

Can someone tell me why the Jacksons were all happy and laughing when leaving the Courthouse?

If this is for real and MJ is dead then I don't know what they are laughing about. Or mybe because justice is being served? I don't know ...

What do ya think?

If Murray is not convicted, then the hoax, in my opinion, goes on.

If Murray is, however, I think we may have to call it a day...

I posted  this in another area regarding something I found on the CNN Transcripts for the Nancy Grace show and thought I'd share in case someone had any insight.

Nancy was speaking with someone from Entertainment Tonight about the charges against Murray. Kevin stated that Dr Murray only had his license revoked for the state of California but that he could practice in other states.....HELLO! Does he even have a California license? And doesn't he practice in Texas and Nevada? That would mean he can go home and continue practicing medicine. The other thing taken away is his ability to prescribe propofol.  Hmm...he wouldn't be doing that on a daily basis anyway as a Cardiologist.

So, if I read this correct - he didn't get any punishment at all. Not yet anyway, right?

Something else I found interesting - there was a comment on TMZ that the Medical Board asked the court to suspend Murray's license because it takes too long for them to do it. Is it common for the Medical Board to ask the court for such a thing?  Isn't 7 months long enough to carry out an investigation? They hold emergency meetings for situations that need prompt action. Not saying, just saying...

Dear Friends,  why the need to worry about whether the Dr. is booked, tried, convicted etc?  Whatever "deal" the Dr. had w/ MJ would have covered all the possibilities, even 4 years in prison, for a price.  What better to keep HIS trail covered?
