But on Monday, reports surfaced that Blanket, Michael's youngest son, was supposed to appear on stage but backed out at the last minute after becoming overwhelmed. However, a source close to the Grammys told Access Hollywood that gossip is fiction and Blanket was just fine.

The source told Access that Michael's children themselves decided just Prince Michael I and Paris would speak on stage and accept the award on behalf of their dad.

Blanket did attend the event with Katherine Jackson, his grandmother, who was backstage. She looked after her grandchildren during the big event, the source added.

Blanket is just 7 years old, I think he was very nervous and it would be too much for a little boy like him to stand infront of thousands of people including all the people that were watching on television and online.

The children have been kept away from the media circus and hidden for most of their life, now stepping in front of a huge crowd to deliver a speech is definitely a huge step. I would be scared, too.
