I thought personally there was some tech stuff done to make it soound more live,so that it really would sound like a collaberstion...I think I am the only one on any of the forums that really didnt like it as a tribute. As many Grammys' as Michael has won and the differant memorable moments...I sure thought that he was owed a bigger tribute-as far as tributes in performance are concerned.
Paris and Prince really had me worried for like 2 seconds...I was sure I was gonna burst into tears...and I never did. Just like I was sure that I was gonna cry at TII,but never did.
When she said "Daddy was supposed to be here..." and you all know how that finished,I was like -she slipped up on her lines I know that, but stayed real calm dont you think. To calm...I think.
They are the most beautiful kids on earth, and Princes' mannersims were remarkably like Michaels'. Made me smile alot.

It seems that we are hearing different things... Some people hear What about if I live again, and others hear What about death again (like me).

So what to do with this....

Maybe it's an illusion.
Like those optical illusions where if you look at it one way you see a rabbit if you look at it another way you see a duck. Some people see a duck, some people see a rabbit, some people see both. [attachment]

In this case the rabbit can be "What about death again" and the duck can be "What if I live again"

Some people hear the rabbit, some people hear the duck, some people hear both.

I hear both.  :?
Me too. I'm so confused.
I was listening to Earth Song on my iPod a second ago and...
I heard "what if I live again."
Then I played it again and I heard "what about death again".
I guess it depends on what your mind wants to hear.
If you want to hear "what if I live again", that's what you'll hear, even if you heard "what about death again" originally.
Same with the optical illusion.
If you see a duck, then someone tells you there's also a rabbit, then you can see the rabbit.

Does that make sense to anyone?  :?

What a fuzz about some breath...there were 4 people holding a microphone up that stage, it could have been any one of them, or some other recording of Michael, there is no way that it can be proven that this is Michael live, it´s a wild goose chase.

I clearly hear death again...and if you have to listen to it 1000 times to hear live then maybe your brain finally lied to you so you can move on    sorry lol i will listen to it again

For whats its worth... i hear
 "What about baby boys"
"What about the days"
"What if I live again"
"Would you give a damn"

And at 3.01 its not so much he is clearing his throat, but more the like grunt he does before singing. God did I just describe the GENIOUS as "grunting" his lyrics... sorry MJ.

The words are partially INAUDIBLE, so you can interpret it any way you want. You can listen to it and listen another time and interpret it another time and yet another time, play it slowed down, play it reversed and forth and backwards, when something is inaudible, don´t draw any conclusions from it. At some point it starts to become obsessive. You can never draw any conclusion or proof from something that is vague.

Besides, ´what if i live AGAIN´ would not make sense. You can not live `again`, you can only live once.

I don't hear neither "death again" nor "live again". I find that it is absolutely unclear to understand and exactly that is what makes me feel it might be live. I can't remember that it ever sounded that blurred. I use to sing along and I am familiar with the lyrics but I did not hear "death again" here. It is totally mumbled and that I find untypical.

Earth Song Tribute @ Grammy's:

Earth Song  LIVE:

stop at 5:01 he doesn't clear his throat or anything on that peformance

*EDIT* have the your volume HIGH to hear it at 3:12

Thanx for posting, of course he was singing live, just in the memorial in that same place with the changing of "painSSS" insted of "pain", besides in the Earth Song performance he sounded very emotional  :)  I love him and just can't get enough of him.
Just sounded TOO CLEAR for it to be ''Recorded'' and i just really felt he was Singing Too Us  :D

That is what I exactly what I said to my mum when we were watching Earth Song on the Grammys.  I have already mentioned in two previous posts that MJ's voice was clear as a bell, and that it sounded like he was singing live on the stage.  I also think that it was strange the Grammys were held at the Staples Center where MJ's memorial service was held. The strange, camera angle shot on stage during Earth Song from where Jennifer Hudson was standing across the stage was very weird too me.  I thought that MJ was going to walk out on stage. Also a photo of this weird camera angle has already been posted on the forum.  I had the strongest feeling that MJ was really at the Grammys on Jan 31, 2010.

You rocked my world, you know you did
And everything I own I give
The rarest love who\'d think I\'d find
Someone like you to call mine
