Re: am i one of the oldest here

I'm 43 and I was a big fan back in the 70's/80's. But unfortunately I fell into the media's "sheeple" trap in the 90's & concluded that he was mentally unstable.  During the trial I believed he was guilty.

Shame on ME.

After his "death", I learned about the REAL Michael Jackson, along with discovering his newer music.  He is a creative genius, and a kind humanitarian & father .  I'm not saying he was perfect; he had a difficult life and difficult family...but he certainly didn't deserve the kind of treatment he received from the media.

It's really DISGUSTING how people spend so much time invading stars' private lives...then rip them limb from limb mercilessly...then shake their heads and go "tsk" "tsk" when the person crashes & burns.

Anyway, my 11 and 13 year old listen to him now.  His music paved the way for so many pop styles and trends.  And it never gets old.   :)

PS- I think it's awesome that so many people of all different ages all around the world can come together like this, support each other, stand together against those who think we're nuts, and really try to heed Mike's message both personally and globally.

Age is a state of mind and 50 is a symbolic #. I'm 32 and look 19 but people that know me say that I speak like I'm 45 'what's up' with that. 77 was a good year.

Hi, I'm 52.  I grew up with Michael too.  I went to see the Jackson 5 in concert in Baltimore, MD when he was just 10 years old.  I was 12. My sister got the tickets and my whole family went.

My daughter is 17.  She has never been interested in Michael Jackson but she has recently started reading the site and now is starting to believe it could be a hoax.

How lucky you are  what was it like I bet you have happy memories of that day

Actually it was very interesting.  At that time most of the fans were not caucasion.  We were the only "white people" in the audience.  I think because of that, the Jacksons kept looking our way.

Thanks for sharing your story I love hearing about them. I find it very beautiful actually just proves (even though we already know it) how groundbreaking the Jacksons were and especially our sweet sweet Michael. I've loved Michael as long as I can remember and will keep loving him forever.

I definitely grew up with MJ, i'm going to be 51 in May. I thought he was such a cutie, and I hope this doesn't offend anyone but I remember that back then, white girls were NOT allowed to think black boys were cute, at least where I was from. I grew up in Decatur IL, very conservative middle of the midwest!   At least that's one thing that has changed for good in this country!
haha that wouldnt /stop me they could stick me behind bars if they wanted to id proudly get up on a public bus or something and shout I'M A WHITE GIRL WHO THINKS MICHAEL JACKSON A BLACK MAN IS HELLA SEXY, YUP THATS RIGHT PEOPLE, :)
Haha glad I'm not the only one!
Yeah I'm not supposed to like black guys either but...who can resist Michael?

Well mumof3 I'm 40! Glad to see others here of all ages! I was not a huge fan growing up, but did like some of his music. When the child rape accusations started, I was very skeptical because I know the media lies and manipulates and exaggerates stuff. I was one of the ones that didn't exactly thing OJ was guilty, but I wasn't sure! I'm white and was raised around whites, but ended up marrying a black man who I have two girls with! Very cute by the way! Unfortunately, I had to divorce him because he was alchoholic! Now I have a wonderful white husband, except he thinks MJ was a child molester and thinks he is dead now! Don't know why I put this here, but I did! Late night for me, better go now! CHEERS!
