"cause the lie becomes the truth"
 Lady, I'm falling out of my chair! This could be a reason why I thought this song didn't make clear sense. When I listen to a song I try to imagine it in my head as a movie, but this song doesn't come together clearly. If you compare it to Beat It, that song has pretty clear message and video, but Billy Jean is abstract.

Quote from: "Sarahli" "cause the lie becomes the truth" this line has bothered me about this song for so long...i use to argue that the son was his kid because at one point he admits that he "danced" with her in the round and then at the end he says the lie becomes the truth and also he gets in the bed with her in the videobut like most mj songs what you think he is talking about he is not... so good topic souza
She told my babyWe danced till threeAnd she looked at meThen showed a photoMy baby criedHis eyes were like mineCan we dance on the floor, in the round, babe
But I loved it, cause it's Dangerous
what im thinking is that he it not talking about women in the songs at all...if we replace girls with something else it would probly make alot more sense
Okay this could be quite far-fetched but you know Come together lyrics Come together, right now Over meAnd you know the saying over my dead bodySo could that be some kind of clue? I mean he clearly wants us to come together as an army of L.O.V.E, but since he is not dead, we can't come together over his dead body, so we'll just come together over him.Just a thought...
First of all thank you Freddie01 for showing me how to strip lyrics, which made me think of giving this it's own category. This new forum category is to make you reread all the lyrics again to see what he could have meant by them. As he says himself in This Is It, "That's why I write these kind of songs, you know. To give some sense of awareness and awakening and hope to people."Freddie showed me how to strip Billie Jean, and I think he has a great theory with this. Let me first show you the lyrics:She was more like a beauty queenFrom a movie sceneI said, don't mindBut what do you meanI am the oneWho will dance on the floor, in the round'She says, 'I am the one who will danceOn the floor in the round'She told me her name was Billie JeanAs she caused a sceneThen every head turned with eyesThat dreamed of being the oneWho will dance on the floor, in the roundPeople always told me,Be careful of what you doAnd don't go aroundBreaking young girls' heartsAnd mother always told me,Be careful of who you loveAnd be careful what you doCause the lie becomes the truthBillie Jean is not my loverShe's just a girl who claims thatI am the oneBut the kid is not my sonShe says I am the oneBut the kid is not my sonFor forty days and forty nightsI was on her sideBut who can standWhen she's in demandHer schemes and plansCause we danced on the floor, in the roundSo take my strong adviceJust remember to always think twice(Do think twice)Do think twiceHoooShe told my babyWe danced till threeAnd she looked at meThen showed a photoMy baby criedHis eyes were like mineCan we dance on the floor, in the round, babePeople always told me,Be careful of what you doAnd don't go aroundBreaking young girls' hearts'(Don't break no hearts)But you came and stood right by meJust a smell of sweet perfumeThis happened much too soonShe called me to her roomBillie Jean is not my loverShe's just a girl who claims thatI am the oneBut the kid is not my sonNo, no, no, no, no, no, no, noBillie Jean is not my loverShe's just a girl who claims thatI am the oneBut the kid is not my sonNo, noShe says I am the one(Oh, babe)But the kid is not my sonHe, he, heHoo!Hoo!She says I am the oneBut the kid is not my sonNo, no, noBillie Jean is not my loverShe's just a girl who claims thatI am the one(You know what you did to me, babe)But the kid is not my sonNo, no, no, noNo, noShe says I am the oneBut the kid is not my sonNo, noShe says I am the oneYou know what you didShe says he is my sonBreaking my heart, babeShe says I am the oneBillie Jean is not my loverBillie Jean is not my loverBillie Jean is not my loverBillie Jean is not my loverBillie Jean is not my loverFreddie and I had discussions about it for hours, I won't bother you with it all and it took me some time so see, but in short it could be possible that he means this by it:Who is the kid on the photo?'His eyes were like mine', 'But the kid is not my son'. So the kid is Mike himself.Who is Billie Jean?Billie Jean is the public, the world. The public chose him to 'dance in the round', since he was a kid. The public is also in demand, they want new music, they want him to dance and sing and make music. The public also lies, we have seen enough examples through the years of lies about him. But his mother also says: "Don't go around breakin' young girls' hearts", because the public is also his fans. Which could mean that in some of his lyrics where he mentions a 'girl' he could also mean 'the public' or 'the fans'.It's just a smart part of what we discussed, but with this and after S.T.U.D.Y.'s posts concerning TIAI, I think we can strip more of his songs, especially from thr BAD-era until Invincible, because he became more political from that time on.I wonder what you guys come up with!
