The King of Pop and his iconic music will return to Los Angeles when “Michael Jackson THE IMMORTAL World Tour” comes to the Southland at the end of January 2012.

“Our goal is not to simply cover Michael, but to take his music to a whole new level,” said Jamie King, tour writer and director.

For a few nights, Jackson fans will get to see this production at the Honda Center and Staples Center. The show includes Jackson’s music and choreography with Cirque du Soleil creativity.

“It starts with the music,” King said. “Michael’s voice is what drives the show. I have the opportunity to carry on Michael’s legacy, to take all that energy -- all that he was and was going to be -- and build it into this production.”

King has toured with Jackson and Prince, and has worked as Madonna’s creative director for the last 12 years.

According to organizers, the tour highlights Jackson’s Neverland and the “Giving Tree," a representation of an oak tree at Jackson’s home.

The show's creative team help their first meeting at the tree where Jackson “would climb up to seek inspiration and write his songs and poems," King said.

The show will include 32 songs along with never-before-heard outtakes and clips. It features 60 international dancers, musicians and acrobats reflecting Jackson’s influential career.

Jackson captured audiences around the world since he was a child performing with his family in the Jackson 5. He went on to become a top performer with tours spanning the globe and reaching millions of fans.

“Immortal” runs from Dec. 3 to August 22 with two stops in Southern California. On Jan. 24-25, the show will be at the Honda Center then at the Staples Center Jan. 27-29. Tickets run from $50 to $250.

The (fake) California seal at court has 32 stars (instead of 31) You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login. Is 32 songs just a coincidence? Or should I put put my hoax glasses  :geek: away for a while?
