God is good.  TROY DAVIS IS AN INNOCENT MAN!

I have been advocating for this for 11 years.  Troy Davis is innocent!  A new trial or ruling  is indeed the only real justice for this man.  Baby steps can get us where we need to be.  It simply takes a little more time.

I've followed the Davis case on and off.  I don't know all the details but from what I do know there is no, and never has been any, physical evidence linking him to the crime.
 
It does my heart really good to hear that there's been a reprieve...and hopefully it will lead to a fair day in court, which he has yet to have.
 
Apart from an innocent man behind bars (which happens much more than we know of or is reported on)...what I find even more distressing and disturbing...is a country/political system that, on the one hand, has a president quoting scripture and on the other hand, blatantly breaking His commandments.  There's something really messed about that.
 
Hopefully the tides are turning.

Within the last 30 minutes, the Supreme Court has refused to over turn the decision and the execution will go forward.  How cruel and inhumane is this thing that we call American justice. :cry:  God bless Troy Davis’s family and all of the advocates who stood behind him and tried to make it right. When it is all said and done, which I understand will be within the hour, may he forever rest in peace.  I am totally crushed.  Nite guys.

His last words, knowing he'd be dead within minutes, included him stating his innocence...and asking God to bless and have mercy on those killing him.  Wow.

P.S.  I had to shut the coverage off...an innocent man has just been killed by the government and the 'news' coverage of it is pathetic.  It kills me to hear the questions these so-called 'reporters' are asking the 'witnesses' to the execution...wanting to know how many times he blinked before he died.  Pathetic.

There are no words for what apparently transpired these last few hours.  I truly wanted to say something profound but I just feel at a complete loss to find it.  God Bless You and Keep You Troy Davis...and may he grant mercy, as you requested, on those who failed you and those who sent you from this earthly realm.

There is no justice in imposing a death sentence that you are forced to live for 20 or more years to receive.  It’s like being punished twice for the same crime.  If a person is given the death sentence, it should be mandated that it is carried out in 12 months or less.  It is beyond inhumane to make a person wait 20 years knowing that at the end of that wait is still death.  If you’ve served 20 plus years, you have already paid for the crime.  To then be executed is the same as being made to pay again.  This time, however, it’s only for the audience participation and satisfaction.  Either give them death or give them a life sentence behind bars.  To give them both is a crime within itself.

It's a shame I know, back a few years ago, California executed a man (Clarence Ray Allen) who was 76 yrs old; legally blind, half deaf and in a wheelchair. To make matters worse after a heart problem (his heart stopped), they resuscitated him and since you can't execute a person that is sick waited and then executed him. He was 76, had been on death row for 25 years. I don't care what he was in for, that's horrible to do! Why not just let him go when he had heart problems. If his heart had stopped he would have died anyway. I don't get it.
