Michael Jackson hand-picked impersonator for The Simpsons

Michael A. Mariant/AP

The Simpsons regular Yeardley Smith has revealed Michael Jackson hand-picked the impersonator who would play him on the hit cartoon series 20 years ago.

Jackson’s cartoon likeness sang Happy Birthday to Yeardley’s Lisa Simpson character on an episode in 1991, and she tells TMZ.com the late King of Pop was not allowed to perform on the show.

She says, “He literally hand-picked a guy to sing like him.”

In the episode, Jackson was supposed to provide the voice for a mental patient who thought he was Michael Jackson – but his record label bosses didn’t like the plot and advised the star not to sing.

According to Smith, the singer selected a man named Kipp Lennon.

She insists the guest did an amazing job: “How unnerving would it be to sing like Michael Jackson in front of Michael Jackson?”

You rocked my world, you know you did
And everything I own I give
The rarest love who\'d think I\'d find
Someone like you to call mine

"Let us dream of tomorrow where we can truly love from the soul, and know love as the ultimate truth at the heart of all creation."
------Michael Jackson

Coming soon to a trial near you; MJ: the resurrection

The question I have is if they found someone that sounds pretty much exactly like Michael so most were fooled all this time (except those who already knew), then why would they pick Jason Malachi to sing on the album, and his voice clearly doesn't sound like Michael's as much, with a totally different vibrato? I think MJ wanted it to be more obvious this time.

Michael pls come back

"Why a four-year-old child could understand this hoax. Run out and find me a four-year-old child. I can't make head nor tail out of it"

Wow, I'm so confused now. If someone named Kipp Lennon sang the song.. how can it possibly sound exactly like Michael would? Maybe it's just a good voice actor? I mean, in the other video when he (Kipp) sings, it's nothing like Michael.
