Jacko Dangling Child Sculpture Sparks Fury

2:25pm UK, Wednesday April 06, 2011
An east London music studio used by some of the world's biggest pop stars has become the target of a furious hate campaign after installing a controversial sculpture of Michael Jackson.

The piece of artwork, named Madonna and Child, is a life-sized model of the King of Pop and son Prince Michael II, depicting the famous moment in Berlin in 2002, when Jackson dangled his baby out of a window.

It currently sits in the window of The Premises Studios where Arctic Monkeys, Amy Winehouse, Al Green and Nina Simone have all recorded.

The sculture, created by Swedish-born artist Maria von Kohler, is getting hate mail and threats from angry Jacko fans.

True to the original incident, the life-size statue leans dangerously out of a high window at the studio - 20ft above the ground.

Web surfers are using forums to blast the work.

One described it as: "The most outrageous sick thing that could have ever gone on in the city of London."

Last week Mohammed al Fayed unveiled a statue of the late singer outside Fulham FC, which he owns, as a tribute to the singer.
