Snoop Dogg has paid tribute to Nate Dogg, who died last night (March 15).

Rapper passed away last night (Mar 15) aged 41[/b]Nate Dogg, real name Nathaniel Dwayne Hale, was 41. The cause of his death is as yet unconfirmed.

Writing on his Twitter page, Twitter.com/snoopdogg, Snoop hailed his rapper friend, who he met as a teenager.

"We lost a true legend in hip-hop and R&B," he wrote. "One of my best friends and a brother to me since 1986 when I was a sophomore at Poly High [Long Beach Polytechnic High School] where we met."

He added: "I love you buddy. You will always be with me forever and a day. You put the 'G' in 'G funk', you put the '1' in '213' and you put your stamp on everybody you ever did it with.

"I miss you because I am so sad but so happy I got to grow up with you, and I will see you again in heaven, because you know the slogan about 'all doggs go to heaven'."

Nate Dogg made his debut on Dr. Dre's 1992 debut solo album 'The Chronic'. As well as Snoop he also collaborated with Eminem, Ludacris, Tupac Shakur and Warren G.

He released three studio albums of his own, most recently his 2004 self-titled effort.

OMG he was so young.. One of my friends stated that he was on drugs .. I guess these artist need to be on drugs to perform better, and have more stamina. I hope he did not die of a drug overdose. This is only speculations now. We shall wait and see.
Imagine if he hoaxed his death too?    That would be great. He will be with Michael.

Apparently, Warren G, one of his close collaborators has stated that Nate Dogg had suffered from a couple of strokes a few years ago.  I remember "Cockney Translation".

Edit - my apologies, "Cockney Translation" was by Smiley Culture who also passed away only a few days ago.  RIP Smiley Culture.

Yeah it's very sad.  He is way too young to pass away.  God bless his family.  He really did have a unique voice and style of singing.  Hopefully we don't see anymore rappers dying so young.  That's why my heart goes out for DMX.  I hope he gets it together soon.  I don't want to see him end up in tragedy.

Sun comes up on this new morning
Shifting shadows, a songbird sings
And if you feel alone, I'll be your shoulder
With a tender touch, you know me so well
Somebody once said, it's the soul that matters
Baby, who can really tell when two hearts belong so well
