I wonder if this is to contrast the restriction MJ has always felt. He laments over never being able to just go shopping somewhere, or he said just taking a stroll down the street, because everywhere he would go he would be bombarded with fans wanting autographs and pictures, and he would sometimes fear for his safety. Murray is free, unhampered, with people who don't even seem to notice him. (but I think it is all pre-filmed before 6,25,09)
This is the intended meaning of "suspended".

But a near-by word is "suspended animation". The meaning is interesting.
-a state of temporary cessation of the vital functions.

-A temporary interruption of the vital functions resembling death.
(I know it's referring to Murray, but did that describe MJ for a time on June 25?)
