I never understood why they built the stage and had all the props etc there when the venue was over 4000 miles away and it was not meant to be a movie. Were they going to transport all this big huge stage across the USA and the Atlantic ocean to the 02 arena? If not then there was no point to having it all.You dont need many props etc to learn and practice songs and dance moves. They could have got perfectly good experts to build this in London. Also why didn't they do all the rehersals in London? Michael was to have his children with him anyway so there was nothing stopping him.I think this proves it was meant to be a movie all the time and the concerts were never going to take place. Even if the dancers and staff etc thought it was strange it was not their place to question it.

Same thoughts.  If there was supposed to be a London Concert wherein they where supposed to have been ready, why are there no news/feeds/pics about O2 being ready for set up and all.  All they have is the one of Staples Center.

someone sais something about the size of the stage... like the staples is smaller tna O2, and the stage as we see maybe it's too small to the O2, and laugh about it... what do you think? someone who really knows?
BIG THANK YOU! ;)

This is an excellent observation.  Is there anyway to verify that the '02, was not being prepared?

Hi everyone, this is not about the O2, but I've been wondering if anyone else also noticed during the rehearsals (or what we saw as the movie), they made two "mistakes".

And MJ said, with a big grin, looking over to Kenny's, "that's why we rehearse, that's why we rehearse."

Did anyone else notice this?

this sounds like a guy who doesn't really get that every word he says is going to be analyze by people like us....   anyway, I agree w/all of you that it's strange the entire stage was set us even tho it wasn't the O2 stage.

Thats true, how do we find out about the size of O2?
Im pretty sure that Staple Center is smaller and all their props will be just too small for O2 then.... dont u guys think?

I'm still having a hard time believing Kevin Mazur took all the photos of the rehearsals we have been shown...

Compare the photos in the This Is It booklet to the photos published here:

These pics are taken by a pro, and IMO quite a few of the booklet pics would have ended up in the trash can of a pro...

No idea but maybe other artists were performing at the O2 so weeks of MJ rehearsals could not take place in London?? If so (again I have no idea is this is true or not) then they would need to build a nearly identical stage so that MJ, the dancers, the musicians, etc. could precisely plan out the show (i.e. know where on stage they would be, perfecting those "jumping" hydraulic moves - everything to perfection). Just a thought.

Also I imagine if the O2 shows were going to happen the crew would rebuild the sets to fit the O2 size specifications (and probably not move everything from LA). This happens a lot in the film industry - one set to rehearse and another built on location. It would help to hear from some stage hands/ crew guys/ roadies what exactly happened timeline-wise.

So you could say the concert was really in the final stages of preparation - with all the individual songs coming together into a coherent show?

Yes, well... everything was pretty much staged and built.

He said everything was build! Why build everything if they were planning to take it to London?

i asked the question to about moving the equipment.. but my partner said Metallica did it all the time, they would be in one country one day and in another the next with one of the biggest stage setups ever!! so it is possible..

the thing what threw me was it had took them so long to make a section of the light suite for his entrance which wasn't finished, an it was due to be ready / finished in a week or so!! hmmmmmmm

"So how did you feel when, four days later, you were told he had died?

I was so shocked, because from what I saw on Tuesday night, he was full of energy and full of life. I couldn't wait to see this show at the O2 arena with all the fans there. "

If I am not mistaken, isn't there only TWO days between Tuesday and Thursday?  I find this to be a big error!!!!!  Maybe not a big deal but yet still something to note.
