Black Eyed Peas front man Will.i.am wants no part of the new Michael Jackson album -- because he feels the entire thing goes against everything Michael stood for.

Will.i.am tells EW, "Whoever put it out and is profiting off of it, I want to see how cold they are ... He just wasn't any ordinary artist. He was a hands-on person. To me it's disrespectful. There's no honoring."

His biggest issue, it seems, is using unfinished MJ tracks -- something he feels the King of Pop never would have stood for: "Michael Jackson songs are finished when Michael says they're finished ... Maybe if I never worked with him I wouldn't have this perspective. He was very particular about how he wanted his vocals, the reverb he used ... he was that hands-on."

It's worth noting ... the album is put out by Sony, through Michael's estate. So Michael's kids are the ones who stand to make money off this.

I'm playing close attention to this sentiment:  "I want to see how cold they are"

I'm definitely watchin'

I think it's interesting how they made sure to say that Michael's kids would be the ones making money off it. Is that a clue that Mike is behind the release of the album? Or am I interpreting that the wrong way?

What you have just witnessed could be the end of a particularly terrifying nightmare. It isn't. It's the beginning.

StrangerInCalifornia

Who is EW? Entertainment weekly?? I dont believe the article is trying to say that MJ's kids are "cold," so there must be another meaning. I'm kinda thinking that they're trying to imply that Michael is hands-on with everything he does....including the hoax?? And maybe some clue about the unfinished songs...seems all we've been hearing lately are unfinished songs.

SoldierofLOVE

cold in reference to the children????  of course not. Will.i.am is speaking of "how cold they are" in reference to the producers of the album, Sony.

I thought the same :) , and also this man who speaks from the perspectives of many fans, that of making money :?

brunob12

That's why I like Will.i.am, he's always fair and respectful with Michael.

Honestly, I have to go with Wil on the fact that I do not feel that MJ would have released this!!! ESPECIALLY the tracks that already have old MJ songs mixed into them. That tripped me out......but us fans will buy anyway right? To me SONY has blood on their hands! Tracks dripping in blood. :(

I don't know if you are interpreting it right or wrong but it's definitely how TMZ wanted you to interpret it.

This whole thing would be a lot easier if we know who the good guys and the bad guys were.

I love how they made sure we knew the profits were going to the kids. Sounds like someone heard about the Sony boycott... so many fans were/are convinced that they're getting all the money.

Guess not.

If the Jacksons are so upset about what Sony is doing to MJ's songs, why did they sign with them in the first place? Makes u go hmmm

I do agree with this: "Michael Jackson songs are finished when Michael says they're finished."

I've read that the profits from the new album are split 50-50 between Sony and the estate, which makes sense.

My question is...WHO chose the creative team to put together the album in the first place (there's the culprit)---> and who are they taking direction from?

The people like Will.i.am that have worked closely with Michael obviously know Michael's work methods and feel he would not have wanted it done this way and are speaking up.

But all this is almost like a replay of the TII making (..."Michael wouldn't have wanted it this way, he's a perfectionist....it's unfinished"...etc...blah,blah,blah) does this sound familiar?...same song, different cast. :|

I've the feeling that Will.i.am. is the personal spokesman of Michael. Although Michael signed an agreement with Sony, in which possibly certain strict production conditions are set by "cold" Sony and Michael isn't free to produce the way he wants to, doesn't mean that Michael is personal approving the album. I think that the whole discussion about the confusion of Michael's real or fake voice on the album has been put in the media by Sony in the first place, JMHO. I know that in November there'll be an new album of Black Eyed Peas called "The Beginning". May be Michael produced some work on this album, because there he has his freedom to produce however & whatever he wants, of course in collaboration with Will.i.am.
It's all for L.O.V.E.
