I guess he was born in  1961 I understand they lied about his age when he was young for business wise. But now I don't think they will lie about his age.. I believe he was born in  1958

Good Question?  I personally cannot see why they would have said he was born in 1958, if he indeed was born in 1960; Motown interest was for the public to think that he was younger than he actually was and not the other way round!  This implies that 1958 is his year of birth and fake records were made-up with 1960 as his year of Birth to support the lie about his age.

Explanation: Motown just had to make him "older" because of child labour acts (limited daily working hours for kids under twelve in 1970, his four-in-a-row-No.1-hit-and touring the US- year ). Even more so when he toured the world 1971 (actually still 11, but presented as being 13 already).

This was "his chidhood stolen - or 'totally, totally taken away" - from him, as he often claimed.
