Could we be the puppets
November 25, 2010, 02:28:27 PM
I can't find the One more chance thread, not sure if there was even on, but anyone notice that in the video, Michael is the audience and we're the performers, he's watching us, and were amazed of him, as he runs and dances around the stranded diner room.
I noticed this the day it was released but didn't have time to post it, what do you think,
Coincidence or meaning? I mean really, This song has nothing to with the music video, doesn't even go along with the theme, except the color blue. Theres no lover Michael needs one more chance with, I don't see the world he has to walk around to find her, and I dont seem him not caring how long it will take.
It's more him singing but he's the audience, and we're the entertainers, but yet on stage we still look at Michael.

Re: Could we be the puppets

All the World's a Stage-As You Like It
~William Shakespeare

The full passage is (per Wikipedia.org):

    "All the world's a stage,
    And all the men and women merely players;
    They have their exits and their entrances;
    And one man in his time plays many parts,
    His acts being seven ages. At first the infant,
    Mewling and puking in the nurse's arms;
    And then the whining school-boy, with his satchel
    And shining morning face, creeping like snail
    Unwillingly to school. And then the lover,
    Sighing like furnace, with a woeful ballad
    Made to his mistress' eyebrow. Then a soldier,
    Full of strange oaths, and bearded like the pard,
    Jealous in honour, sudden and quick in quarrel,
    Seeking the bubble reputation
    Even in the cannon's mouth. And then the justice,
    In fair round belly with good capon lin'd,
    With eyes severe and beard of formal cut,
    Full of wise saws and modern instances;
    And so he plays his part. The sixth age shifts
    Into the lean and slipper'd pantaloon,
    With spectacles on nose and pouch on side;
    His youthful hose, well sav'd, a world too wide
    For his shrunk shank; and his big manly voice,
    Turning again toward childish treble, pipes
    And whistles in his sound. Last scene of all,
    That ends this strange eventful history,
    Is second childishness and mere oblivion;
    Sans teeth, sans eyes, sans taste, sans everything." — Jaques (Act II, Scene VII, lines 139-166)

 Interpretation

    * Infancy: In this stage he is an infant. He cries weakly and vomits milk in the arms of the nurse. He grows stronger with the passage of time.
    * Childhood: It is in this stage that he begins to go to school. He plays the role of a complaining and unwilling schoolboy. He is reluctant to leave the protected environment of his home as he is still not confident enough to exercise his own discretion.
    * The lover: In this stage he is always remorseful due to some reason or other, especially the loss of love. He tries to express feelings through song or some other cultural activity.
    * The soldier: It is in this age that he thinks less of himself and begins to think more of others. He is very easily aroused and is hot headed. He is always working towards making a reputation for himself and gaining recognition, however short-lived it may be, even at the cost of his own life.
    * The justice: In this stage he has acquired wisdom through the many experiences he has had in life. He has reached a stage where he has gained prosperity and social status. He becomes very attentive of his looks and begins to enjoy the finer things of life.
    * Old age: He begins to lose his charm — both physical and mental. He begins to become the brunt of others' jokes. He loses his firmness and assertiveness, and shrinks in stature and personality.
    * Mental dementia and death: He loses his status and he becomes a non-entity. He becomes dependent on others like a child (sometimes called "second childhood") and is in need of constant support before finally dying.

Why not just tell people I'm an alien from Mars? Tell them I eat live chickens and do a voodoo dance at midnight. They'll believe anything you say, because you're a reporter. But if I, Michael Jackson, were to say, "I'm an alien from Mars and I eat live chickens and do a voodoo dance at midnight," people would say, "Oh, man, that Michael Jackson is nuts. He's cracked up. You can't believe a single word that comes out of his mouth."

I completely agree with you on that one.  I thought the same thing, only that he's keeping us entertained at the same time. :D

well, i believe that they only got to shoot in one location (setting). Usually with music videos they shoot in several locations, and in each location they perform the whole song and i think this was the only location they got to shoot in before the 2003 allegations. After that they scrapped the project. NOW i think sony is trying to find every little thing they have of MJ and release it Whether it makes sense or not..... thats why the video doesnt make sense. It shows him running away and then running back to the stage (thats probably the part when he says "and ill walk around the world to find her") and if they had got a chance to film in another location you would of seen him show up there or something along those lines. But i also see much symbolism in the video to...... To me Michael is pulling a "count of monte cristo" type move and is going to ruin every single one thats done him wrong.

I think the video related to the song does make sense when you think about Michael who will always be the entertainer when he's in the spotlight. Even if we try to change the setting, Michael the audience and the audience the entertainer, Michael still remains the entertainer. Michael sings "Searching for that one who is going to make me whole". "And I would walk around this world to find her - And I don't care what it takes no - Why - I'd sail the seven seas to be near her - And if you happen to see her -See tell her this from me - One more chance at love ". This could mean that if he was one of us (audience), it would be easier to find her, than as an entertainer.

Interesting!  The Count of Monte Cristo  is V's favorite movie.  There is that connection again.
Things that make you go hmmm...!?

Well during all those months I've been

a member, a believer, a lover, a fighter, a truster (not a toaster, a TRUST-ER !), a CIS investigatEr, even a Columbo competitEr, a bad singer, a even badder dancer, a "AAAWWW that's so cute from Michael" screamer, a "Damn i miss Michael" repeater, a "in front of sexy pictures" faint-er, a joker, a pissed off f***ing a*s kicker, a girl like every other....

I think i can deal with being a "puppet for the puppet-er" ! I only have ONE request...

I wanna be a fraggle rock !  :D

Yes if course we are. He's put the whole world on stage, and how we behave in response to certain triggers is the performance.
