17-year-old Matador hoaxer makes media look like an ass

I was in the audience tonight on the MaDiWoDoVrijdagshow tonight here in Holland (You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login) and they had the best scoop since ages.

Yesterday multiple media outlets in Holland reported that a Dutch teenager was accepted on a Spanish Matador school, even though he was not Spanish and that he would leave for Spain to become a professional bull fighter.

Now here is the fun part. On the show tonight the boy admitted it was all a hoax. He wanted to prank some of his friends and mailed the local newspaper with this story. They didn't pick up on it, so he decided to mail the Telegraaf (biggest 'news'paper in Holland) and another regional newspaper. Both the newspapers ran with the story and it snowballed. He was then contacted by a lot of newspapers, TV stations and even documentary makers. But on tonight's show he revealed his hoax and said he only researched this subject for an hour before he made up his story. He also said that all the newspapers had to do to verify was call the matador school or ask him for his application form. They never did... This 17-year-old made the media look like an ass tonight and I laughed my ass off. As for the Telegraaf, no response yet. I wonder how they will justify their actions.
