Michael Jackson's parents Joe and Katherine 'to divorce after 60 years of marriage

Michael Jackson's parents are set to divorce after 60 years of marriage, after the King of Pop's mother Katherine tired of her husband Joe's cruel behaviour.

The pair became estranged five years ago, but the family matriarch reportedly decided to file for divorce after Joe, 81, suggested she was to blame for their son's shock death last year.

Mr Jackson, who was accused of abusing Michael as a child, said in June: 'I begged her to go over and stay with him, but she insisted he needed his privacy.'



Mrs Jackson retaliated, saying through her spokesperson: 'Joe Jackson's statement and conduct toward Mrs. Jackson are outrageous.'

Referring to the abuse of their children, the spokesperson then said: 'The world also knows who Joe Jackson is and he seems bent on never letting us forget.'

According to the Daily Star, Mrs Jackson considered the attack as the final straw.

'She's been humiliated by him for too long. She's absolutely livid. There's no going back.'



The couple became estranged five years ago and live apart.

Mrs Jackson has sole custody of her late son's three children Prince Michael, 13, Paris, 12, and 'Blanket', 8, in Encino, California and Mr Jackson based in Las Vegas.

Despite already being separated Mrs Jackson was said to be reluctant to officially end the marriage, because as a Jehovah's Witness she doesn't believe in divorce.

The couple, parents to nine children including Jackson 5 members Michael, Jackie, Tito, Jermaine and Marlon, married in November 1949 and have 26 grand children.



They put on a united front to support Michael during child abuse accusations against him and mourned side-by-side at his funeral after his death in June last year, aged 50.

In 2007, Michael accused his father - who he does not mention in his will - of beating him when he was a child.

'My father would rehearse with a belt in his hand, you couldn't mess up. I would never get spanked during rehearsals or practice - but afterwards was when I got in trouble,' the singer said.

That 2nd picture of Katherine made my heart skip a beat. But as far as the divorce, I'm glad they're going through with it. If Ms. Katherine suggests it, it must be for the best.

Not sure, but I think this could be true. I keep hearing "Dave" saying "To liberate myself from the confines of my father's criminality. He was a criminal and he caused all this." Maybe now it's Katherine's turn to liberate herself.

Although I do think Joe must love his kids, most likely in his own twisted way, there is so much he did that must have hurt Katherine as a mother. She might have been under some sort of control and maybe it's only now she is ready to let go. If it's true I applaud her for making such a decision at her age, a divorce is no picnic, most certainly not after 60 years of marriage.

Where Joe lives?, There are pictures of him in Encino, or are old photographs. There is a court decision that says it can not be near children Michael, I think, correct me if I'm wrong.
Then it may be that children are not in Encino

I thought Joe lives in Vegas along with  Jo-Vonnie his other daughter. I wonder what could have pushed Katherine at this late stage to finally seek a divorce. Just wondering, as she put up with so much from Joe with  everything he did over the years.  As Katherine is Mike's children's  legal guardian, could divorcing Joe make it harder for him to recieve anything from the estate?

I can't help but wonder if this decision has anything to do with the hoax. It would not be surprising if they both know different things. Perhaps Katherine knows more than Joe and he's caught on, likely trying to get information out of her. I'm just guessing of cource. But throughout this whole thing, Joe has seemed to be "out of the loop". We know that Michael loves and trusts his mother more than anyone. Or maybe Katherine was a mind control victim as well, with Joe being the handler of her as well. I'm just thinking out loud. But my gut has always told me that Katherine and all of the Jackson siblings are too sweet for Joe. They all seem to be afraid of him...

I think it is about time Katherine divorces Joe Jackson. If I am not mistaken he also had an affair and has a daugther with the woman. Also how dare he blames katherine, isn't he a parent also? Why didn't he go and help his son, or maybe if he treated him differently he probably would have been happier child and person. Don't forget we say why MJ was unhappy in the yr 2000? When a child was abused when small, sometimes they regress the pain, and the beatings, for a long time. This can come back into the surface anytime in his adulthood. Maybe he remembered how he was treated when he was a child and started to be unhappy. It is so easy to blame another person for your own mistakes. He should assume responsability, and say It is also my fault for not being in my son's life and abusing him over and over.  I agree, that Katherine was aware of the hoax and Mj did not tell his father.
