The author of the article seems biased in the beginning, assuming that MJ was drugged up. See this sentence, for instance: "He was completely out of it, he was so drugged up he looked like a zombie. He just looked like a lost soul." What if MJ was "out of it" because of exhaustion or dehydration, or the sheer stress of having the Jordan Chandler allegations thrown at him?! Can you imagine how horrible it must have been for Michael to be accused by Jordie's father of molesting the boy, after being friends with the Chandler family?! I can't imagine the pain and stress he must have been going through... And the author himself notes that MJ was actually thinking clearly and could be coherent, so he wasn't completely "out of it"! Later on Michael probably felt better not just because he wasn't drugged anymore (I don't think he ever had a serious addiction problem), but also because he was allowed to be normal and have a normal existence for a while, just hanging out with people. I mean, he had a pretty stressful life otherwise, which became even harder when touring... It wasn't easy being Michael Jackson!
He admitted to have problems with prescription drugs back then so it might as well be true but Idk
I clearly remember Elizabeth Taylor's press conference when she announced that she had facilitated the process of getting Michael help for an addiction to prescription pain killers....so all of this adds up as true to me....part of me felt guilty reading it though....too private....so sad he had to go through all that....did you get the impression that this state he was in was before, during or after the Jordy Chandler accusations?....just wondering if that was a factor in this problem getting so out of control?Thoughts?

The case was what triggered his dependency.
