Michael Jackson:
This is a personal photo that has never
been shown until today. It was taken on June 15, 2009 upon leaving
Michael Jackson's house. It was a day when I had much to look forward
to, considering I had just dropped off three pieces of art to Michael
Jackson and had made plans to return the following week with pieces for
his children. He was personally signing my cd set for me
and mentioned taking a photo upon my return. The plans were in the works
for him to privately come to my studio and see my artwork with no one
to bother him. No media..no paparazzi. He wanted to see more of my
art..as he put it.. "a lot more." I thought I had all the time in the
world to develop a relationship with this iconic man and show him my
world. I would find out all too soon..time was running out.
This photo, which
may seem from a photography standpoint to be, "not very good," is
personally so much more. It is a moment in time that cannot be
recaptured. I was behind the grand gates of Mr. Jackson's home: the
photo shows my point of view from my vehicle-you can see one of the
many waiting paparazzi cars outside and the Christmas wreaths he had on
both gates, because he never got to celebrate Christmas as a child. As I
sat there, I waited for the grand gates to open, but I knew I'd be back
the following week. Little did I know what was in store for the
world..a legend would disappear in front of our eyes.
