Hi, welcome! I don't know I am one of the simplistic ones that does not bother with all the extras like avatars, etc. (cause I am too lazy to deal with all that :roll:) but I'm sure someone will help you out!

for you avatar: go to your "user control panel" then choose profile tab and then edit avatar. You can choose the picture you want to upload.

maybe your pics are too big, try to shrink it to fit, i am not the best at this but somehow managed to do mine, so i am sure you will make it also
