MICHAEL JACKSON's brother RANDY has failed to halt an auction selling off King of Pop memorabilia on the anniversary of the singer's death later this month (25Jun10).

Randy Jackson slammed the planned sale at Julien's Auction House in Los Angeles, branding it "insensitive" and insisting the Thriller hitmaker never wanted to get rid of the items.

In a string of messages on his Twitter.com page, he writes, "I was in the process of expressing how distasteful it is for Julien Auction House 2 (to) hold an auction on the day my brother passed. My bro stopped this auction before... How insensitive of them to use the anniversary of his death to bring attention to an auction of items he didn't want to part with.

"I will do my best with Julien Auction House but I can only do so much. Ultimately my mom has the power to stop this, not me. This frustrates me. I know my brother wouldn't want this."

But Darren Julien, who runs the auction, is refusing to back down and is adamant the sale will still take place on 25 June (10), because the company always holds its summer event on the same day each year.

He tells TMZ.com, "We have the same summer auction (of pop star memorabilia) at the same time every year."
