Michael Jackson - Jackson To Sue Bashir Over Damning Documentary14 June 2005

Jackson To Sue Bashir Over Damning Documentary

LATEST: MICHAEL JACKSON is expected to sue journalist MARTIN BASHIR for making the damning LIVING WITH MICHAEL JACKSON documentary, which prompted the child molestation allegations the singer was cleared of last night (13JUN05).

The BAD singer walked away from the courthouse in Santa Maria, California a free man after four months of daily court visits as he fought charges of molesting GAVIN ARVIZO, then 13 years old, at his Neverland Ranch home in 2003 and conspiring to commit child abduction, false imprisonment and extortion.

And now the 46-year-old is preparing for a new court case, this time against Bashir and British TV production company GRANADA, which made the programme.

The show attracted a staggering 27 million viewers, who watched Jackson holding cancer sufferer Arvizo's hand and confessing to sharing his bed with children.

Jackson filed a breach of confidence lawsuit against Granada in February 2003, days after its controversial British screening, but proceedings were shelved when the superstar was arrested for child abuse.

She is playing her role well. I liked her when she first came out a couple of years ago.

Hoax Videos / Re: Pearl Jr big news !!!!

Alright, I like Pearl Jr, but this video is just ignorant. I'm more than willing to believe in the far fetched (especially after this hoax), but this is just silly. Is she being ridiculous on purpose? Pearl, please go back to doing commentary on Black women needing love too. That's the call you need to be answering.

I dont know where I heard this from but didnt it say somewhere that Arnie Klien was going to make MJ the way he looked before in the Bad era ( Im not saying I believe this but I think I heard it on this forum before)

Dr Klein also claimed he was doing cosmetic work on Jackson's face to make him look "more normal" as he prepared for his comeback shows at London's O2 Arena.
"He came to me because, basically, I was sort of rebuilding his face, because he had severe acne and scarring. He had scarring from having a lot of cosmetic surgery... I was rebuilding his face so he looked much more normal. And, contrary to what people said, he could not take off his nose. His nose was attached. But it looked too small."

The background of jurors in the 2005 trial.

Jackson jury from diverse backgrounds

JURY SELECTION

February 24, 2005|From Miguel Marquez and Dree De Clamecy CNN

A 12-person jury has been chosen for Michael Jackson's trial on child molestation charges.

There are four men and eight women on the jury. The youngest is a 20-year-old man. The oldest is a woman, 79.

There are no African-Americans on the panel -- drawn from the county where Jackson lives. About 2 percent of the population of the county is African-American.

One Asian woman who lists Indonesian as her first language is on the jury. Questionnaires given to jurors did not ask about race.

The jurors are:

A 51-year-old woman who works as a computer programmer.A 22-year-old woman who is a physical therapy aide.A 62-year-old man who is a civil engineer.A 44-year-old woman who works in the Department of Social Services.A 63-year-old man who is retired.A 45-year-old woman who listed no job on her paperwork.A 79-year-old woman who is retired.A 21-year-old man who is a student.A 42-year-old woman who works as an education aide in special ed.A 50-year-old woman who is a horse trainer.A 39-year-old woman who is a clerk.A 20-year-old man who is an assistant head cashier.

Most jurors told lawyers they enjoyed Jackson's music and were impressed by his career. Most also said they distrusted what they heard in the media, and very few had seen recent interviews with the pop star.

One juror's ex-husband is a police officer. Another juror said her sister was raped when the sister was 12. When asked if that would prevent her from being on the jury, she responded, "Hell no."

The 79-year-old juror is a great-grandmother whose grandson had to register as a sex offender. She told lawyers she feels the experience will help her be fair to Jackson.

The youngest juror told the court his sister and her boyfriend had visited Jackson's sprawling Neverland estate.

The horse trainer said she was surprised by Jackson's size. She described him as a small man with lots of energy.

The 21-year-old student is a paraplegic, paralyzed in the lower half of his body, who said he wants to be a motor sports reporter. He said he visited Neverland with a United Cerebral Palsy group when he was in the sixth grade.

your right Forst, what's the purpose of that painting hanging there, it's like it even don't belong there.
and why a FAKE van Gogh painting? And there's a little picture in the left corner below.

I did not want to put anything out there about the van Gogh painting so strategically placed, but...

The Paris Sunflowers
van Gogh drew a series of sunflower paintings in the late 1800s.

Woah...he just said "Mike's protected...we know where he is"

Of course you do Jermaine...so do we!  Hi Mike

Piers: Michael is not here to protect himself. Now when this trial starts if you feel that he's getting unfairly trashed in there, how are you going to deal with that?

Jermaine: Michael has done so much good, so many good deeds, that he's well protected, we know where he is, it hurts everyday, it hurts my mother, it hurts my brothers, it hurts the fans, but the life he lived on this earth it was a good life, but it was also a bad life because they were after him...

This story and the "Blame It on the Boogie" story have been written just to help Jermaine with book sales.
Latoya made appearances everywhere when her book was about to be released, now it's time for Jermaine to do the same.

In my opinion, it was very obvious from the very beginning that Murray is involved in the hoax. He was not hired by anyone, but by Michael.
I could not agree more.

Prosecution: Jackson could flee

May 25, 2004

Is popstar Michael Jackson a flight risk?

The singer apparently wants his $3 million bail lowered, but the prosecution opposes the change on the basis he might flee.

Jackson's request for a bail reduction came to light Sunday following the release of a prosecution motion opposing such an adjustment.

Santa Barbara Senior Deputy District Attorney Gerald Franklin, who authored the brief, called Jackson an international celebrity who has to weigh "the options available to him" and "flight certainly is one of those options."

Franklin noted that Jackson is likely considering the fact he has not led a lifestyle that would have "prepared him to adapt readily to a prison environment and routine, and whose physical stature will present its own problems for him in making the necessary adjustments."

He urged Judge Rodney S. Melville not to alter the bail amount, saying in part that $3 million was "little enough assurance in the unique circumstances of this case" and was "a lot of money to leave behind, even for him."

Jackson is "well-to-do," Franklin said, adding the bail amount "would prompt a wealthy individual to continue to make his appearances in court."

Admitting that the money Jackson has already posted is "exponentially higher" than the $435,000 bail dictated by the county's bail schedule, Franklin pointed out that Jackson's net worth "is exponentially wealthier than the average defendant."

Saying Jackson is "adored" in Europe, the Near East and Africa, Franklin argued that "several of those countries do not have extradition treaties with the United States."

"As the day of trial approaches and Mr. Jackson makes a hard-headed assessment of his chances for an acquittal and ponders the unhappy but inevitable consequences of a conviction, he may well conclude that life as a wealthy absconder in one of those countries is preferable to what might amount to a life term in a California prison."

Jackson spokesman Raymone K. Bain told CNN on behalf of the entertainer that, "All of these issues will be resolved this coming Friday in court. We are under a very strict gag order and we are unable to make any further statement."

The prosecution's motion does acknowledge, in part, Jackson's argument for a bail reduction.

"Defendant argues, 'The current bail is exponentially higher than the statutory schedule for the offenses alleged. Mr. Jackson has no prior record and has not failed to make required appearances before this court. Mr. Jackson is neither a flight risk nor a danger to the community.'"

When the grand jury indictment was handed down last month against the entertainer, the original bail amount of $3 million was simply transferred and reapplied to the indictment's charges.

The grand jury indictment has now superseded the original criminal complaint.

A motions hearing in the Jackson case is scheduled for Friday to discuss several pending matters, including the motion for bail reduction. Jackson is not expected to appear.

Jackson was last in court April 30 and pleaded not guilty to charges of child molestation, administering an intoxicating agent and a conspiracy count.
