Michael Jackson News / Michael Jackson Made $1 Billion since "death"

Michael Jackson's estate has made more than $1bn (£677m) since his death a year ago, according to estimates by trade paper Billboard.

The magazine says Jackson's album sales have generated about $383m (£259m), while revenue from the film This Is It has hit nearly $400m (£271m).

Profits from publishing rights, licensing and touring are also included in the total.

A new recording contract is estimated to have made $31m (£21m) so far.

The Sony Music Entertainment deal will see 10 albums of the late singer's music released over the next seven years, including one of previously unreleased material.

The estate is guaranteed between $200m (£135m) and $250m (£169.5m) for the deal but Billboard believes approximately $31m (£21m) of this will have been paid in the last 12 months.
Publishing profits

Despite the This Is It tour never getting off the ground, revenue from tickets retained by fans as souvenirs and not refunded brought in about $6.5m (£4.4m), with merchandise raking in $5m (£3.4m), although concert promoter AEG has a cut of these profits.

Jackson's music publishing company, Mijac, currently has a value of around $150m (£102m), according to Billboard.

The magazine said Mijac could have generated as much as $50m (£33.9m) in the last year.

Jackson's estate also owns half of music publishing company, Sony/ATV.

Barry Massarsky of Massarsky Consulting estimated that Jackson's share of Sony/ATV's revenue is $80m (£54.3m) a year.

Other profits have come from DVD sales and rentals, downloads, royalties and ringtones.

Jackson died on 25 June last year at the age of 50.

Other Odd Things / Re: Toy Story III, MJ & This Is It

I just went to see Toy Story III with hubby, daughter & boyfriend. It is g-great! Hyper imaginative!! Enjoyable for adults too. Anyway the reason I'm posting is I'm hoping someone else could verify what I heard. It's near the end, possibly in the after clips, near the end for sure, that someone maybe Ham says "Michael Jackson" (really quick) and then a couple words later, "This Is It." Also in the movie I think in the nursery part, they break out in some clear MJ dance moves. I'd appreciate it thanks!! My family never noticed a thing and thought I was crazy as usual.

Then I should watch it asap :D I won't miss anything if there's really a Michael Jackson and This is It in Toy Story

If only they used a Michael jackson Doll in the Movie   !!!

Michael Jackson News / One Minute Moonwalk on June 25th..
« on: June 19, 2010, 05:29:09 PM »
Just seen this on the News of the World Website, they are trying to get MJ fans to, instead of a minute silence, have a one minute Moonwalk in his memory at : 9.30PM (GMT).  as we all feel that michael is alive, will anyone still do this?

I think i will do it just out of respect for Michael and how he brought his talent to us and shared it with the whole world.... maybe like a Thank-You

heres the article link :

well from what i got from that article is that its not a bad thing.  the family are not telling the kids they have to do it.  they are basically saying that the kids have shown interest in it, and apparently they have inherited the talent from their father, and they want to share it with the world.  the family are saying that if the kids want to do it, that they will support them, but that they also have to get an education.

its just that they want to let the kids do what they have probably wanted to do.  paris said on one of the home videos that she wanted to sing and dance like her daddy when she grew up.

so really if the kids want to do it, let them do it.  you never know michael might like to see his children pursue their dreams, like he did his.

well we know michael was 3 hours late for the O2 announcement

well the whole Joe vs Joseph debate , it doesnt really matter to anything, they are technically the same name, joe is just the shortened of joseph.

and getting a birth cert is not going to happen as those things are very well hidden away from the public.

although looking back at it, why nearly a year later would this need to be written ? shouldnt that be with the autopsy report or something ?
