Other Hoaxes / Other celebrity death hoaxes ...
« on: July 15, 2011, 06:09:12 AM »
Playboy’s Hugh Hefner Not Alone; Here Are Others ...

Playboy kingpin Hugh Hefner, founder and publisher of America’s Playboy magazine, is the latest celebrity to fall victim to internet death hoax.

Celebrity death hoaxes are nothing new, but when the false death news of Hugh Hefner began to spread after a hack of his Twitter account, many panicked as the iconic man behind Playboy magazine is 85.

However, the famed bachelor took to social networking site Twitter to downplay his death rumors and said he is still alive and in good health.

"The rumors of my death are, as Mark Twain observed in a similar situation, greatly exaggerated. I'm very much alive and kicking," Hefner tweeted, responding to the hoax. "I'm lying in bed next to Shera Bechard with a big smile on my face, reading tweets about my unexpected demise. I'm happy to see how many people are pleased that I'm not dead."

Hefner is now 85-years-old. He suffered from a mild stroke when he was 59 and has since calmed the ruckus lifestyle for which he is still wildly famous with men around the world. The quintessential playboy has dated up to seven women at once.

Hefner isn't the first celebrity to fall victim to a Twitter hoax. Earlier this year rumors spread that comedy star Jim Carrey had died during a snowboarding accident. The victims list includes Justin Bieber, Wesley Snipes, Britney Spears, Jackie Chan, Charlie Sheen, Tom Cruise and many more.

Christian Slater is another celebrity to have his death wrongly reported on Twitter.

Here is the list of ten celebrities who falsely made it to heaven.

Rumors surrounding the death of Hugh Hefner have been confirmed false by the Playboy founder himself via Twitter.

Tom Hanks was not even in New Zealand when a fake news site said he had been killed after falling 60 feet from the country's Kauri Cliffs.

Tom Cruise reportedly met his death after diving from the exact same cliffs that Tom Hanks fell from two years before. Just like Hanks, Cruise was nowhere near New Zealand at the time.

Will Smith is another victim of a nasty rumor. FakeAWish.com reported that Smith fell to his death from a cliff in New Zealand. The news started circulating Twitter with people repeating the news. Thankfully, this is just a rumor as Smith is alive and well.

On the same day as Michael Jackson died, a hacker posted on Britney Spears’ Twitter, "Britney has passed today. It is a sad day for everyone. More news to come." Ellen Degeneres and P.Diddy were also attacked by the same hacker that day.

Pronounced dead twice in one day, a viral tweet spread around that Justin Bieber was shot by a publicist and then killed in a car accident back in June. He tweeted, “Wait … turns out I’m alive.”

During her stay in the Los Angeles Twin Towers Correctional Facility, it was reported that Paris Hilton was dead, either from suicide or being stabbed seven times, neither of which were true.

Again, Twitter users are the culprit for the latest scandal in fake Hollywood deaths, Wesley Snipes, who is said earlier this week to have been killed in a fight. The actor is alive in prison after being charged for defrauding the U.S. in 2006.

Earlier this year, the martial arts expert was reported on suffering a fatal heart attack due to the overwhelming stress of promoting Kung Fu Panda 2. We could see how a fluffy CGI panda could be quite stressful, but Jackie Chan debunked this rumor by snapping a shot of himself with Yuji Kumamaru, Consul-General of Japan.

Pranksters used Twitter to spread a rumor that George Clooney died in a plane crash over the Rockies in 2009.

Russell Crowe is another victim of false Internet death reports. The actor was said to have suffered a fatal fall while filming in a remote location. Specifically, in the Hahnenkamm mountains of Austria.

Soon very soon Michael will be the next one  mj_dance/

UCLA / UCLA to Pay Fine for Violating Privacy of Patient Records

UCLA to Pay Fine for Violating Privacy of Patient Records

Here's a case that opens a window on how tabloid newspapers get intimate details of celebrity's
medical lives: They pay hospital employees to rifle through private medical records.
The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Health System has agreed to pay the federal
government $865,000 to resolve allegations that its employees violated patient privacy, according to
investigative journalists at ProPublica.
Between 2005 and 2008, UCLA employees repeatedly snooped in patient medical records, including
those of celebrity patients Farah Fawcett, Britney Spears, Michael Jackson and former California first
lady Maria Shriver. ProPublica had reported earlier how Fawcett (now deceased) had set up a sting
operation to catch leaks to the National Enquirer about her cancer. In 2010, a former UCLA employee
pleaded guilty to four counts of illegally reading private and confidential medical records.
The agreement with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services requires UCLA to train
health system employees who have access to patient records, to sanction those who break the rules
of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and to assign an independent
monitor to assess its compliance for three years.

Others / Ian Halperin and his new target : Lady Gaga ...
« on: July 09, 2011, 08:21:45 AM »
Some similarities with our dear Michael ...

While Lady Gaga attempts to present herself as a normal girl—just like one of her Little Monsters—investigative journalist Ian Halperin would like us to believe there are hidden truths underneath her many colorful costumes and protruding facial bones. The celebrity biographer, known for writing tomes on Arnold Schwarzenegger, Brangelina and Michael Jackson, is making salacious claims about Mother Monster, and succeeding in getting many an eye-catching headline in the process. In a recent interview with Star, Halperin divulged tidbits of information he obtained while chronicling the moves of Gaga for over one year. The most scandalous include: severe body image issues and copious drug use. Of the former, he says: “She is sick and obsessed with her weight. One friend told me, Gaga will stare at herself in the mirror for hours on end, analysing and critiquing her body. It’s an unhealthy obsession.” In regards to drugs, Gaga has been open about her experiences with cocaine in numerous interviews, explaining pre-stardom days were often spent with a bag of the white stuff, which fueled much of her songwriting. (Not that that’s an endorsement, kids.) Yet Halperin attempts to reveal more serious issues underneath everything we think we know about her. “From heroin to cocaine and ecstasy, her friends say that she has done every drug conceivable. You name it she has done it,” he says, noting that her experiment with drugs began at a young age.

Then there are the seemingly unnecessary assertions about her physical health. She’s not the president (yet), and while we would be devastated to learn of any health problems, we’re not really obligated to know simply because we are fans. But according to Halperin, the 25-year-old suffers from Lupus, an autoimmune disease, and the eccentric wardrobe she wears—namely costumes consisting of yards upon yards of fabric—doubly works to cover up the ugly scars and rashes it has left her with. Gaga addressed the illness on Larry King Live last year, explaining it runs in her family and that she had tested “borderline positive.” Does Halperin believe we should sit in on her doctor appointments, too?

Gaga’s alleged honesty is appreciated, particularly within a culture of celebrities who are all too quick to present themselves in a way worthy of parental approval, while the paparazzi work tirelessly to catch them in the exact opposite light. It seems too much of a cliche for a star arguably at the top of her game to be hiding 300-pages worth of secrets (but it’s happened!). Gaga would also hardly be the first notable figure (or person) to struggle with body image issues, but any truth to her going “days without eating” or hating her body would make her prominent “Born This Way” mantra look utterly transparent. Of course, Halperin is also the sort of sleazy celebrity biographer who releases “unauthorized” accounts of the most in-demand stars, so, take from this what you will.

Fox News Tweets 'Obama Is Dead', Hackers Responsible

The Twitter account of US based Fox News was hijacked by a hacker group on Monday, and for several hours multiple fake news reports kept appearing via the account, including some about US President Obama’s death.

Apparently, the hacker collective "Script Kiddies” breached the Fox News Twitter account and managed to post the numerous “tweets”, bearing its own logo.

"Fox news politics hacked by the scrip tkiddies! You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login more embarrassment for FoxNews is imitate," a Twitter message bearing the Fox News logo read before it was finally removed.

“Script Kiddie” members also offered their support to the AntiSec campaign, a movement initiated by the infamous hacktivist group Anonymous with the view to attacking the cyber-infrastructure of various world governments and leaking any data they get their hands on.

"(To) AnonymousIRC TheScriptKiddies would love to assist with #antisec in anyway you need assistance," one more tweet read. However, the message was removed a little later.

Shortly after, Fox News announced that it had regained full access to the Twitter account and the associated email id.

But the troubles did not end there for the news outfit, as Script Kiddiies struck back and started posting more “tweets” using Fox News’ own logo.

"@BarackObama has just passed. The President is dead. A sad 4th of July, indeed. President Barack Obama is dead," one tweet read.
