He has been watching television in prison, I thought he was locked up in his cell all day INCARCERATED as such.

Conrad Murray from jail: 'I was in the wrong place at the wrong time'

By Alan Duke, CNN

updated 8:48 PM EDT, Tue April 2, 2013

STORY HIGHLIGHTS
Dr. Conrad Murray talks to CNN twice as Jackson v. AEG Live trial starts
Murray: "I did nothing wrong and all I tried to do was to help a friend"
"Prince Jr., Paris and Blanket are like my own kids," Murray says
These are Murray's first interviews since his involuntary manslaughter conviction

For more from Don Lemon's interview with Conrad Murray (left), watch "Michael Jackson: The Final Days," a CNN do***entary that will premiere at 10 p.m. Friday.

Los Angeles (CNN) -- The doctor convicted in Michael Jackson's death says he is a scapegoat who had the bad luck of being "in the wrong place at the wrong time."

Dr. Conrad Murray, speaking to CNN by phone from his jail cell, said he "did nothing wrong and all I tried to do was to help a friend who I encountered in a devastated state."

Murray gave CNN two interviews -- one recorded Friday with Don Lemon and a second broadcast live with Anderson Cooper on Tuesday evening. They come as the trial begins in the wrongful death lawsuit filed by Jackson's children and mother accusing concert promoter AEG Live of the negligent hiring of Murray.

These are his first interviews with a journalist since he was sentenced to four years in prison in November 2011 for an involuntary manslaughter conviction in Michael Jackson's death.

Katherine Jackson: Michael's mother, 82, was deposed for nine hours over three days by AEG Live lawyers. As the guardian of her son's three children, she is a plaintiff in the wrongful death lawsuit against the company that promoted Michael Jackson's comeback concerts.

Prince Jackson: Michael's oldest son is considered a key witness in the Jacksons' case against AEG Live, since he is expected to testify about what his father told him about the concert promoter in the last days of his life. Prince, who turned 16 in February, is becoming more independent -- he now has a driver's license and jobs.

Paris Jackson: Michael's daughter, who turns 15 on April 3, is on the list of witnesses and was questioned by AEG Live lawyers for several hours on March 21 about her father's death. Paris is an outspoken teen who often posts messages to her 1 million-plus Twitter followers.

Blanket Jackson: Although AEG Live asked the judge to order Blanket, 11, to sit for a deposition, and he is one of the four plaintiffs suing them, Michael's youngest son will not be a witness in the trial. His doctor submitted a note to the court saying it would be "medically detrimental" to the child.

Kevin Boyle: The Los Angeles personal injury lawyer is leading the Jackson team of at least six attorneys in the wrongful death suit against AEG Live. One of his notable cases was a large settlement with Boeing on behalf of two soldiers injured when their helicopter malfunctioned and crashed in Iraq.

Perry Sanders, Jr.: Katherine Jackson's personal lawyer is helping steer the Jackson matriarch through her relations with her son's estate, probate court and the wrongful death suit. He is also known for representing the family of Biggie Smalls in their suit against the city of Los Angeles over the rapper's death investigation.

Marvin Putnam: He's the lead lawyer for AEG Live, defending against the wrongful death suit. The primary focus of his legal practice is "media in defense of their First Amendment rights," according to his official biography.

Philip Anschutz: The billionaire owner of AEG, parent company of AEG Live, is on the Jacksons' witness list. He is the force behind the effort to build a football stadium in downtown Los Angeles to lure a National Football League team to the city. He recently pulled his company off the market after trying to sell it for $8 billion.

Tim Leiweke: He was recently fired as AEG's president as Philip Anschutz announced he was taking a more active role in the company. The Jackson lawyers say Leiweke's e-mail exchanges with executives under him concerning Michael Jackson's health are important evidence in their case.

Joe Jackson: Michael's father, 84, is on the witness list for the trial and may testify. The Jackson family patriarch, who lives in Las Vegas separately from his wife, has suffered several ministrokes in the last year, which some close to him say have affected him.

Randy Phillips: He's president of AEG Live, the concert promoter that contracted with Michael Jackson for his "This Is It" comeback shows set to start in London in July 2009. The Jackson lawsuit says Phillips supervised Dr. Conrad Murray's treatment of Jackson in the weeks before his death, making the company liable for damages. E-mails between Phillips and other executives showed they were worried about Jackson's missed rehearsals and sought Murray's help getting him ready.

Paul Gongaware: The AEG Live co-CEO worked closely with Michael Jackson as he prepared for his comeback concerts. He testified at Dr. Conrad Murray's criminal trial that he contacted the physician and negotiated his hiring at the request of Jackson. AEG lawyers say it was Jackson who chose, hired and supervised Murray. Gongaware knew Jackson well, having been tour manager for the singer in previous years.

Kenny Ortega: He was chosen by Michael Jackson and AEG Live to direct and choreograph the "This Is It" shows. Ortega, who choreographed for Jackson's "Dangerous" and "HIStory" tours, testified at Dr. Conrad Murray's criminal trial that "Jackson was frail" at a rehearsal days before his death.

Dr. Conrad Murray: He was Michael Jackson's personal physician in the two months before his death, giving him nightly infusions of the surgical anesthetic that the coroner ruled led to his death. Murray, who is appealing his involuntary manslaughter conviction, has sworn that he would invoke his Fifth Amendment protection from self-incrimination and refused to testify in the civil trial. There is a chance that Murray will be brought into court from jail to testify outside the presence of the jury to allow the judge to determine if he would be ordered to testify.

John Branca: He's one of two executors of Michael Jackson's estate. Branca was Jackson's lawyer until about seven years before his death. He said Jackson rehired him just weeks before he died.

Was AEG responsible for hiring Murray?
Jackson died on the morning of June 25, 2009, after a long, sleepless night in which Murray used sedatives and propofol to treat his amnesia, according to court testimony in the doctor's criminal trial. It was a practice that Murray had followed most nights in the previous month and other doctors had done for Jackson in past years.

Michael Jackson remembered

Murray: Just happened to be there at the end

"I have taken the front of the storm for the entire life of a man 50 years old, who has had a monumentally destructive, painful life that has been so damaged it is of huge proportions," Murray told Lemon.

He called himself a scapegoat in Jackson's death, which the coroner ruled was caused by a lethal combination of sedatives and the surgical anesthetic propofol.

"It is in terms so humongous that for 50 years of pain that he (Jackson) has lived and I did not do him for all of that," Murray said. "All of the mishaps that he has encountered in life seem to trickle down on me and I think that is the definition of a scapegoat. Nobody has taken any responsibilities for anything that they may have done to this man but, because I was in the wrong place at the wrong time, then here I am."

"You just happened to be there at the end," Lemon said.

"Yes," replied Murray.

"Conrad Murray, as you sit here now in jail, do you believe you are innocent?" Lemon asked.

"Absolutely," Murray said. "No doubt."

"He's never wavered," his lawyer Valerie Wass added.

"Why am I innocent?" Murray continued. "Because I did nothing wrong and all I tried to do was to help a friend who I encountered in a devastated state and I tried to do everything possible to help my friend. I have been called names and who knows what. Nobody else was there at that time and I can say with the effort that I made I could've suffered a cardiac arrest myself. It was not an easy task but I never gave up on my friend -- never did."

Wass then stopped Murray from saying more that might relate to his criminal case, which she is appealing.

Paris Jackson questioned about dad's death in lawsuit

Murray: Michael was my great friend

Murray talked about his relationship with Michael Jackson in the last months.

"I've lost a friend, a great friend, a man who was imperfect like all of us are," he told Lemon. "He has had his dark sides and he has had his good sides and I've known them both."

His role in the friendship was to bring Jackson peace, Murray said.

"But as he left in a state of total absorption of all of the pains he has encountered and all of the stories that haven't been told that was important to him to either regurgitate, ruminate, whatever he wanted -- to think about an opportunity to release himself and I gave him that opportunity," Murray said. "There was an opportunity where Michael finally found an opportunity to tell someone almost anything and knew he was protected. I gave him that. I gave him that peace."

Alleged 'smoking gun' e-mail revealed

Murray: I love Michael's children

Murray asked to speak about Jackson's children, with whom he said he had "a beautiful, blessed relationship—an extremely good one."

"Prince Jr., Paris and Blanket are like my own kids," he said. "They are my children. I love those children. I worry about them."

"There are things I can share about the children, but I don't think I will go into that, not in this forum," he said. "But at the same time I hope the children are doing well, that they are looked after very well."

He then took aim at other members of the Jackson family, without calling names.

"I am pretty sure there are a number of bottom dwellers right now who are sucking up for anything they can, but I do hope the children will not fall victim of that," Murray said.

Michael Jackson's assistant accuses promoter

Murray: No anger

Murray said he holds no anger toward anyone, however.

"I can certainly be upset and say, 'How did this happen to me?' but I am not doing that," he said. "I think I take the high road in this. My friendship was good and genuine and for everything it is worth I want to remember it that way."

"What do you want people to know about Conrad Murray?" Lemon asked.

"I want to be known as just a simple human being who came from the most humblest of backgrounds, who has worked his way through life through difficult times and good times," he said. "I have been an ambitious man, but the ambitions have not been in any way directed to self. Self is only one part. I spent my life to make man better, to improve the lives of everyone I encounter."

He said he would always be a free man "because of my spirituality, my beliefs. I have carried the weight of this world on my shoulder and I know that I cannot carry that by myself so I was also carried by my heavenly father."

Murray: Jail's no day at the beach

He spoke from a cell he described "a small space where there is no penetration of sunlight, but I can say there is room for improvement in everything. Certainly not like being in the sand or being in Bora Bora, but I am hoping for enduring the task as best that I can."

His expected release date is in late October, after he serves half his sentence, unless the sheriff decides to free him earlier under jail overcrowding guidelines.

Well, lots to pick at here don't you think?

"I would just like to state (with such emphatic conviction) that Michael is still with us and has always been"...

Great post 'mrbigshot' I just wish I had your conviction, but as the years have gone by I'm afraid my faith that everything will be OK and that Michael is still with us has been on a huge rollercoaster of yes and no's!

For me, like yourself, there have been times when I am totally sure and confident he's still alive and yet there are times when I am at a complete loss what to think and break down in floods of tears. Of course it helps enormously to have likeminded friends here on the forum to share those times with and it also helps to know that I am not just wishful in my way of thinking!

I guess what I worry about most is if I have spent nearly 4 years of my life chasing a lie and that in fact Michael really died that day, selfishly because I could have been further down the line with dealing with the enormous grief that comes with losing him.

Like others here I feel the biggest challenge is about to be faced with the AEG trial due to start and I'm not sure how I will feel if Michael's children do in fact take the stand. For me I think that it would be a step to far for me to continue to believe and I may just have to face my grief.

Anyway, thank you so much for your uplifting words, they've helped enormously in times of my own doubt.

With Love.

Some days I believe strongly Michael will come back and some days I feel he would never come back.. because maybe he wants to stay forever young in our minds (he is Peter Pan after all) and he doesn't want us to see him grow old, like with wrinkles and grey hair etc.
Also if I remember right Latoya said in her book something like Michael wouldn't want to be seen in media after he turns 50.

Other reason why he might've faked his death and not come back is that maybe he wanted to make sure he will become cultural icon. Many times those people who die young, like Marilyn Monroe and Elvis (even if it is fake death) became greater legends than those who we saw old with wrinkles and grey hair.

anyway I do HOPE he will come back
It would be horrible if we would never know the truth, what really happened to him :icon_e_sad:
I'm so confused these days!

What do you think? sorry if this has been discussed many times here already

I know how you feel, 'I Love You More', as some days my head spins round and round with the thought of what really happened to him. I search and search for answers that I've already found, at least a dozen times before, looking for something that I missed, trying to put the pieces back together in a different way, with a different view. The only comfort I have is that I know there are others out there just like me!  I love that moment on waking when the mind is free from thought, as it's the only time in the day when mine is not ticking away preoccupied by the hoax!

It's not even about a comeback for me, as I cannot see that would ever work, what with all the crazy press and the people who want to see him fail. For me it's all about KNOWING THAT MICHAEL IS ALIVE, SAFE & HAPPY, because it just seems so wrong that he should die so young when all he did was give to the world. The balance just isn't right and I can't and won't rest until I know the truth.

Your thoughts about Michael not wanting to be seen getting old and grey have also occurred to me and I don't feel he would have wanted his fans to see him that way. Maybe 20 years ago he did make a plan to leave the spotlight and hoax his death or even slip out of the limelight and work behind the scenes. What worries me is the fact that that plan never came into practice and his life was taken away before he was able to relax and enjoy life.

The prospect of never knowing the truth terrifies me, but perhaps we might just never know and it's a mystery that we will have in the back of our minds until our own time is up! Look on the bright side, at least we will grow old and grey together, if we have any hair left!  :Pulling_hair:

It's a daily struggle I know, but keep going.
With love.

Does it say, "Scared of the moon", or "Dark side of the moon", on her t-shirt?  What has a prism and rainbow to do with the moon?
Looks like a moon on the back of her neck. There are tattoo-like marks on both arms and her front and back, but I doubt they are real tatoos.

I really feel for Paris in this photo, as to me she looks as if she has the weight of the world on her shoulders. From what I can make out, the writing on the mirror says HANG IN THERE and this is maybe reflecting onto her skin making it look like she has a tattoo. Teenage years are so hard, especially for girls and for one that was so close to her father it must be hard for Paris not having Michael with her like they used to. That's assuming he's not hiding out there!

One thing that is nagging at me at the moment is the fact that her appearance is very different to that of the 'Lundons Bridge' promotional images and I'm not sure how that fits in.  Has she just got a voice over part or is she an actress, as I know the film is to have both. It's just that being that they are still casting, isn't it a bit strange that she has dramatically changed her look before the final cut? Do we know anything about the number of hours or times she has been seen filming, as I've only seen the promotional video to date.

Also interesting to note is that the first you tube casting call was early 2009 which was before Michael left, so do we assume that it was done with Michael's blessing and it was all part of the plan to keep us watching Paris?

22
I suspect he has some new artwork on the horizon, as he always uses Michael's name to draw attention to himself.

MJDHI Announcements / Re: The forum in 2013 - Back to research please
« on: January 08, 2013, 05:58:51 AM »
It's good to see the forum take a step in the direction of serious investigation once again and I am encouraged to see that new direction.

But, change is not for everyone and for some this site has been a lifeline to like minded friends who share a love for Michael and a need to know what happened to him and so it hurts when changes get made to something they enjoy.  They are not wrong to feel this way and we just need to give compassion and encouragement to those who are upset.

Tensions have been running high since a certain 'BAM' date came and went and feelings of loss and a load more unanswered questions have surfaced for many, including myself, along with very strong emotions and frustrations at times, that is totally understandable, but the need to take it out on fellow members was wrong and Sousa is right to want to get things back on track.

Respect and love were always at the forefront of Michael's mind and should be of ours too.  Before I write I always ask myself how I would feel if it was directed at me, as others interpretation of what you are trying to say can be misplaced.

It's been a sad time for many on the forum, both personally and hoax wise and change may not be welcomed, but time as always will ease one into a new direction and hopefully bring brighter days for all.

Looking forward to mature debates and reading less ill feeling on the forum, lets face it, we are all here to find the truth about a man we never knew and that puts us all in the same mindset.

Yep...I'm afraid that Justin is in for a pretty brutal reality check one of these days.  The careful editing of the teaser will have all of those pre-teen and early teen girl fans buzzing (not they they appear to need an excuse...lol)...but it was clear what O was trying to say.  He seemed not to grasp it either and took it as some huge compliment when it was merely an observation of how his PATH to celebrity was different.  Truth be told...he looked more like a deer caught in the headlights than someone mentally engaged in an interview.  One look at the demographic model of his average audience is all it takes to know for sure that he's not reached the status of the others mentioned...especially Michael.  It's likely that the adults (if any) in a JB crowd resulted from the fact that those actually wanting to attend aren't old enough to drive.  I've watched a few YT vids of what is supposed to be him performing live in concert (I thought I'd try and give the benefit of doubt and see what all the hoopla was about) but was left more in confusion than ever.  There was no IT factor leaping out at me...just awkward dance attempts and forgettable music.  When all these little girls have a real life Boyfriend...it will be bye bye Bieber fantasy and hello guy next door.  One other thing... imitation may be the sincerest form of flattery...but NOT if you take it too far.  This constant attempt to BE just like Michael is getting on my last nerve.  Every lame attempt to copy a comment, a move, a dance sequence, a scene is tiresome and annoying.  One might believe that his intentions were honorable...but one look at that flippin' chromed out "see me" car of his is all it takes to see what's really important to him....and that's himself.  You "wanna be like Mike" Biebs?...try a dose of humility...and it needs to be sincere.  JMO though of course.

I totally agree with you, compaired to Michael JB is like a cardboard cut out. Many try to imitate but there will only ever be one true Michael Jackson.
Oprah always has and always will have her own agenda and she has always used other peoples success and fame to big herself up. I lost count of the name dropping she made in this short snippet alone! Poor Justin looks totally out of his depth and unable to comprehend what Oprah is getting at.
I cannot imagine Michael's fame getting any bigger than it was in the 80's and it was achieved without the popularity of social media, but in saying that, the event's of the 25th June 2009 spread so quickly because of it. If I Remember, the internet crashed and it was thought that it was under a terrorist attack because the cyber traffic reached it's highest peak in history... beat that one Bieber fans!

This might be of interest. During the summer I came across a youtube video of someone's helecopter trip over Neverland during June 2012. It not only shows the beauty of the place, but also how empty it now is.
I agree, it's a great hiding place for MJ, as so much has been made of the fact that he would never return! Just like Michael to camp under the stars in a sleeping bag, writing more material for his comeback shows!

It's so refreshing reading all your thoughts on this subject, 20 years ago I got told that I was weak because I was too open when talking about feelings, love and peace. There has been such a shift in mindset over the years and as the months have gotten closer to the 21st December my mind has become clearer and clearer and I am no longer afraid to openly talk about healing and spirituality, I am
always amazed at the responses I now get because there has been a huge change in peoples mindset. Michael lived in the light and had vision beyond his years and I believe he locked his messages in his music for generations to come. Love never dies.  x

Are you sure that you believe Michael is alive?  :icon_rolleyes: your last sentence seems to mean: although Michael is dead Love never dies or am I wrong?  :icon_e_confused: And so many past tenses, it freaks me out!  :errrr:

My dyslexic way always gets me misunderstood! Of course I believe, to decode...

Michael's always been a lightworker and his music contains many beautiful messages and teachings of love and peace and when we are all long gone from this earthly plain his music will continue to be played for generations to come. Therefore his universal love will live on and never die.

Such beautiful spiritual words from Donte, if I didn't know any different I would say they had been written by Michael himself.  Michael was most definately a LIGHTWORKER, spreading messages of love, peace and light through his songs.  If I ever feel down his music is my only therapy!

Many of you have spoken about using your third eye or coming into the light since the death hoax, I think you'll find it's always been with you, you just didn't have the time to stop and listen before and it took a big shock to the system to open your eyes!

When you are in the calm of life, remain still, open your heart and listen,
... as all things are possible...

Thank you for such a warm welcome, I look forward to hoaxing with you all!
@Wishingstar, so glad you enjoyed your trip to London, it's such a magical place at christmas time. You asked what type of an artist I am, well I guess my thing is Sculpture and I love to use potters clay and driftwood I collect from the Dorset coast, which is just over an hour away from where I live in the Somerset countryside.
What type of art are you interested in? It's such escapism isnt it!

Introduce yourself / Hello Everyone...
« on: October 28, 2012, 07:20:12 AM »
Hello from England
I thought I would dip my foot in the forum and say hi to everyone. I joined a while ago and drop by often to catch up on everything hoax related!

I have been a Michael fan seeminly forever, in fact way back from the time I watched my mother cry listening to Ben played on the radio for the first time. In 1993 I was lucky enough to see Michael in action in London and I was truly mesmerized.
Seeing how he was treated and accused in later years broke my heart and I never lost sight in the fact that Michael was a pure soul.

The 25th June 2009 was a moment I will never forget, in fact I fail to remember most of the days that followed. But... there was always a feeling of disbelief.  Maybe I didnt want to believe that this beautiful soul and fighter for all causes close to my own heart had left. But it felt wrong for that to have happened and the feeling of loss overwhelmed my soul.

It was not until December that year that I was able to watch Michael's videos once again and it was during a visit to youtube that I noticed others were feeling what I was feeling and that it was not just grief. I tuned in, listed intently and started to take notes on paper, that ended up in a notebook because there were so many of them! I guess I was starting to question all that had been shown to me, and boy was my head spinning.

In later months I joined a few hoax sites, enjoying the interaction of fellow friends of all things Michael and to be honest it was that which saved me from some of my darkest days. Unfortunately the sites I chose to follow have now dwindled in members and now somedays I feel so alone, plus the fact that I am now probably talking to myself!

So, here I am, saying hello and hoping you won't mind me joining you and tagging along! I will try and help along the lines, but I know like the sites I have been working with you have all covered so much! I almost feel like an intruder, but I know from reading the forum I will be welcomed as you all seem lovely.

About myself,
I am a full time Mum, Wife, Artist, Spiritulist, Animal Lover and Peacemaker, I dislike conflict, War and Cruelty to everything living and even though I believe in the afterlife, I believe life is to short to be in conflict. That's probably why Michael was my number one!

Anyways,
Looking forward to getting to know you all,
With L.O.V.E
MJLOYALFAN

P.S. I am very Dyslexic, so sorry if I mis-spell etc, it's all part of me!

Anyway,

I guess I just wanted to say "Im here and willing to help deliver Michael safely back where he belongs... with his loyal family"
