Michael Jackson News / Train 777 on UNSTOPPABLE
« on: November 25, 2010, 06:41:46 PM »
Just got home from the movies. LOL. Loved the movie Unstoppable. It was AWESOME!!! I had to snicker to myself though. The train number on the side was 777 and the name Unstoppable reminded me of Invincible. And they kept breaking away to news clips with we have "Breaking News." LOL. Just made me smile. OH yeah and Denzel Washington was the main guy and he also played in The Book Of Eli too. sigh...

My daughter went next door to Megaminds. Yes the good guys faked his death because the public just put too much pressure on him and he couldnt be "normal"  and what he had to live up. Then at the end there was some awesome MJ music "Bad" LOL.

Michael please come home soon.

Michael Jackson News / Last Night on Wendy Williams was Larry King
« on: November 21, 2010, 03:44:43 PM »
Last night on Wendy William Larry King was her guest. They visited for a while then started talking about him retiring. Then as they was fixing to go to break wendy announces that she wants to whisper something to him. Something she didnt want "us" to hear with a big smile. They come back from break and a blonde woman is setting with larry. Im not real sure but i think she was one of his producers. Anyways she was promoting a book she has written called "the producer" and wendy just happend to mention that this  book was released on the day Michael Jackson "died." (wendy is a fan by the way  ;). She also spoke of his (mjs)new album bein released next month and asked the crowd how many liked what they had heard so far. Nearly the whole crowd clapped. Then she asked who didnt care for it. Two people clapped LOL. She called them haters LOL  :D It was funny.

Just sayin....I think larry knows...he retiring.....Oprah knows...shes retiring and says her last season is going to BLOW OUR MINDS. Both of them have had MJ all over their programs lately. (larrys mostly in the past) But wendy has also mentioned MJ alot this last week. HMMMMMMM> sure makes you go hummmmm.  :?  :?  :?  :?  :)  ;)

Michael Jackson News / Hootie (Darius Rucker) spoke of MJ
« on: October 21, 2010, 11:58:49 AM »
By CHRIS TALBOTT, AP Entertainment Writer Chris Talbott, Ap Entertainment Writer – Thu Oct 14, 2:01 pm ET
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Darius Rucker has spent the last few years reinventing himself as a country star. He's had a platinum debut, No. 1 hits and his follow-up, "Charleston, SC 1966," debuted this week with high expectations.

Rucker hasn't forgotten what made him one of music's most bankable voices, though. You know, a certain laid-back rock band that turned out to be the melodic antidote to grunge and one of the biggest acts of the 1990s.

Hootie & the Blowfish celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, and Rucker says the band will record another album and tour at some point.

"This country thing is what I'm doing," Rucker said. "This is my career change. This is what I'm doing 'til I retire. But I know for a fact that — I don't want to put a time on it — but soon there's going to be another Hootie record, another Hootie tour because I love the guys and I think we will always be a band."

Rucker said the band never really broke up — though they haven't recorded together since releasing "Looking For Lucky" in 2005. They play together occasionally, including four dates this year, and bandmates see each other often. Rucker says the chemistry that helped them sell more than 25 million records remains strong.

"We could get together right now and have an album for you in three months," Rucker said. "We're all writing all the time. I was sitting down writing songs (recently) and I wrote a country song and then a song came out that sounded like Hootie, so I saved it for that."

Hootie guitarist Mark Bryan says he has an album's worth of songs alone. But with Rucker's new album fresh on the streets, he knows it will be some time until the singer is free of his country commitments to record with the band: "I'm probably not looking at another Hootie album for another year or two at the very least so I might as well make another album."

Rucker's solo country turn has turned into quite a run. His first country album, 2008's "Learn To Live" spawned three No. 1 songs, sold about 1.5 million copies and earned him a Country Music Association Award for best new artist. Expectations are even higher for "Charleston."

Rucker's second act as a country music star is no surprise to Bryan. He's been listening to his friend belt out country tunes since they met in 1985 when Bryan heard Rucker singing in the shower of their University of South Carolina dorm hall.

"The very first show Darius and I did together at Pappy's with an acoustic guitar, we did 'Family Tradition' by Hank Williams Jr., which he's still doing in his solo country set," Bryan said.

After a few months, Rucker and Bryan decided to go for it and enlisted bassist Dean Felber and a drummer. Felber, who had played in a band with Bryan during high school, didn't really want to join but he said he'd fill in till they could find a permanent bassist. They played at Pappy's in February 1986, adding drummer Jim Sonefeld four years later after their first drummer quit to pursue a religious ministry following graduation.

"When we started this we said we wanted to be one of those bands that played for a long time," Rucker said. "And it's amazing 25 years after asking Dean to play with us, we're still looking for a bass player and we're still in a band. That's pretty awesome."

Friends will celebrate Hootie & The Blowfish's 25th anniversary with a concert and art installation unveiling in Columbia on Oct. 21. Bryan — now a solo artist, producer and music industry instructor at the College of Charleston — says "a light roasting" is expected.

"So it will be like a tribute, which makes me feel like I'm 80," he said.

It will be a cherished memory for Rucker, who admits many of his memories from the Hootie years are a "blur."

"We had just taken college and extended it a few years," he said. "Our tour was a traveling party every day. Every day, all day. I look back and I laugh, people will ask me things and they'll say things, and I'll say, 'I don't remember that.'"

He knows, for instance, that he spent time on stage with Michael Jackson. He knows the story and there's video to prove it. But one of the highlights of his career just isn't in his memory.

He plans to remember the next batch of Hootie milestones, though.

"I don't get drunk anymore," he said. "I made a conscious promise to myself to look around, to talk to people. At the Grand Ole Opry I want to make it a point to go up and talk to Little Jimmy. When I say, 'Thank you, guys, for this ride, I'm going to spend some time with my kids,' I want to make sure I have memories."

Mighty oil-eating microbes help clean up the Gulf
Wed Jul 28, 4:41 pm ET

By JOHN CAREY, environmental writer

Where is all the oil? Nearly two weeks after BP finally capped the biggest oil spill in U.S. history, the oil slicks that once spread across thousands of miles of the Gulf of Mexico have largely disappeared. Nor has much oil washed up on the sandy beaches and marshes along the Louisiana coast. And the small cleanup army in the Gulf has only managed to skim up a tiny fraction of the millions of gallons of oil spilled in the 100 days since the Deepwater Horizon rig went up in flames.

So where did the oil go? "Some of the oil evaporates," explains Edward Bouwer, professor of environmental engineering at Johns Hopkins University. That’s especially true for the more toxic components of oil, which tend to be very volatile, he says. Jeffrey W. Short, a scientist with the environmental group Oceana, told the New York Times that as much as 40 percent of the oil might have evaporated when it reached the surface. High winds from two recent storms may have speeded the evaporation process.

[Photos: Latest from the Gulf oil spill]

[Related: 100 days of oil: Gulf life changed for good]

Although there were more than 4,000 boats involved in the skimming operations, those cleanup crews may have only picked up a small percentage of the oil so far. That’s not unusual; in previous oil spills, crews could only scoop up a small amount of oil. "It’s very unusual to get more than 1 or 2 percent," says Cornell University ecologist Richard Howarth, who worked on the Exxon Valdez spill. Skimming operations will continue in the Gulf for several weeks.

Some of the oil has sunk into the sediments on the ocean floor. Researchers say that’s where the spill could do the most damage. But according to a report in Wednesday’s New York Times, "federal scientists [have determined] the oil [is] primarily sitting in the water column and not on the sea floor."

Perhaps the most important cause of the oil’s disappearance, some researchers suspect, is that the oil has been devoured by microbes. The lesson from past spills is that the lion’s share of the cleanup work is done by nature in the form of oil-eating bacteria and fungi. The microbes break down the hydrocarbons in oil to use as fuel to grow and reproduce. A bit of oil in the water is like a feeding frenzy, causing microbial populations to grow exponentially.

Typically, there are enough microbes in the ocean to consume half of any oil spilled in a month or two, says Howarth. Such microbes have been found in every ocean of the world sampled, from the Arctic to Antarctica. But there are reasons to think that the process may occur more quickly in the Gulf than in other oceans.

Microbes grow faster in the warmer water of the Gulf than they do in, say, the cool waters off Alaska, where the Exxon Valdez spill occurred. Moreover, the Gulf is hardly pristine. Even before humans started drilling for oil in the Gulf — and spilling lots of it — oil naturally seeped into the water. As a result, the Gulf evolved a rich collection of petroleum-loving microbes, ready to pounce on any new spill. The microbes are clever and tough, observes Samantha Joye, microbial geochemist at the University of Georgia. Joye has shown that oxygen levels in parts of the Gulf contaminated with oil have dropped. Since microbes need oxygen to eat the petroleum, that’s evidence that the microbes are hard at work.

The controversial dispersant used to break up the oil as it gushed from the deep-sea well may have helped the microbes do their work. Microbes can more easily consume small drops of oil than big ones. And there is evidence the microbes like to munch on the dispersant as well.

It is still far too early to know how much damage the spill has done — and may still be doing — to the environment. Tar balls continue to wash up on beaches. And the risk of a leak remains, until the well is permanently capped sometime in the next few weeks.

« on: June 18, 2010, 10:50:33 AM »
My fear is we all want him back so bad or to at least know for sure he is OK and with his family but im affraid that this is all just our desires and maybe he dont want to come back at all. Thats what nags at me in the back of my mind. Do you guys think he wants to come back?? I dont think Elvis wants to return. Just my humble opinion. But I think a double comeback would be the awesomest ever! Elvis could return to Graceland and enjoy is grandchildren and family. MJ could do whatever he wants to do. sigh....hope + love + peace. Thats what i am praying for.
