Dr. Conrad Murray / Dr. Conrad Murray Writing Tell All Book While In Jail!
« on: September 21, 2012, 08:46:29 AM »
By Jen Heger - Radar Assistant Managing Editor

Dr. Conrad Murray, who was convicted last year of killing Michael Jackson, is passing time in jail by writing a tell-all book and hopes a publisher will pay him a substantial amount of money, RadarOnline.com is exclusively reporting.

"Dr. Murray spends most of his days writing what he is telling friends will be a tell-all book about what really happened in the final days of Michael Jackson's life," a source close to the situation tells Radar. "Murray believes that the public will want to hear about the time he spent with Michael. Conrad says that Michael confided his inner-most secrets about his true feelings about his family, the child molestation trial and his three children. Murray contends that Michael's kids viewed him as a family member and loved him.

"This is all about money for Murray though because he is absolutely flat broke and desperately needs the cash. He feels that the book could help rehab his image and help him to get his medical license back."

PHOTOS: Key Players In The Trial Of Dr. Conrad Murray

Jackson's former physician was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in connection with the death of the King of Pop and was sentenced to four years in jail. However, because of jail overcrowding in California, Murray, who has served less than a year of the sentence to date, is expected to only serve two years behind bars.

"The conviction is being appealed and Murray is confident that it will be successful, even though legal experts say that it's very unlikely that he will get a new trial. Conrad is extremely arrogant and doesn't accept any responsibility for the death of Michael Jackson. He truly believes he has done nothing wrong," the insider says.

Meanwhile, reps for Murray have reached out to publishers to test the waters to see if there is any interest in releasing the book, and so far, the response has been, "no thanks."

"Several publishers have been contacted and have expressed little to no interest in publishing any book written by or about Dr. Murray," the source says. "One publisher said that even if Murray were to take full responsibility for the death of Michael Jackson there was no interest. Dr. Murray just isn't an empathetic person and the public doesn't want to hear from him, period," the source says.

(Reuters) - Sony/ATV, the music publishing division of Sony Music, has kicked off an auction to sell the rights to more than 30,000 songs from artists ranging from Culture Club to Iggy Pop contained in the Virgin Music and Famous U.K. song catalogs, according to sources with direct knowledge of the process.

These sources said non-disclosure agreements were sent out last week to more than 20 potential buyers, including Warner Music Group, Primary Wave Music, Round Hill Music, Imagem Music, Kohlberg Kravis & Roberts & Co LP, Platinum Equity Partners, Thomas H. Lee Partners and others.

The signing of non-disclosure agreements is typically required at the start of an auction process as a condition of receiving books with detailed financial data about the company being auctioned.

While a first-round bid deadline has not yet been set, the sources said they expect a deal to be valued at around $150 million.

The sale of the Virgin Music and Famous U.K. catalogs were among the concessions required by regulators in order for Sony/ATV to receive approval for its $2.2 billion acquisition of EMI Music Publishing. John Branca, a partner at law firm Ziffren Brittenham who has represented Michael Jackson, Aerosmith, The Rolling Stones, and others, is running the auction on behalf of Sony/ATV.

All parties mentioned above either declined comment or could not be reached for comment.

Combined, the two catalogs control the rights to more than 30,000 songs, the bulk of which are from artists who rose to prominence during the 1980s and 1990s. Included in the catalogs are rights to songs from the Culture Club, Lenny Kravitz, Goo-Goo Dolls, Iggy Pop, Tears for Fears, Fine Young Cannibals, and many others.

Music publishing catalogs can range in size from a few dozen songs to a few million. For instance, Round Hill on Tuesday acquired Arthouse Entertainment, which controlled the rights to just 150 songs from artists including Katy Perry and Cee Lo Green. By contrast, Sony/ATV, which is a joint venture of Sony Music and the estate of Michael Jackson, ranks as the record industry's largest music publishing house with the rights to more than 2 million songs.

While record labels have struggled with declining CDs sales as a result of piracy and a shift to digital distribution, music publishing companies have gained in value because they collect revenue every time a song is played in any format since they control the underlying rights to the composition.

All of the major record labels - Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, and Sony Music - have publishing divisions, and a slew of independent companies such as Spirit Music Group and Primary Wave Music have cropped up in recent years to acquire the rights to song catalogs.

This is Dennis's response to one readers feedback  (beLIEver) who read the book....

"I personally believe that MJ is gone from us, but lives among us in our hearts. I am aware that there are those that believe differently. They too have a right to their voice. This fan read LUNDON'S BRIDGE AND THE THREE KEYS and wrote the following. We encourage all thoughts about where the story might take you. Thanks…"

Laura Tuller
@dennishchristen
My thoughts on "Lundon's Bridge & The Three Keys:

First, I'd like to say that I really enjoyed the magical & whimsical wonderment of the this story. I started to read it to my daughter, Skylynn. But being that she's only six, she'd rather look at pictures with her stories. So I decided to take it upon myself to finish Lundon's Bridge. I enjoyed all the characters and the positive message of the story and based on the writing style, I could see how easy it will be for young readers, as your audience, to be captured early on in the story. I also enjoyed the discriptive narration throughout the story which allowed me to visualize & imagine how the motion picture will be. I would love to take my kids to see it when it is released for sure! I am sure the movie will a great success as the main character will be no other than Paris Jackson!

In the back of my mind, I tend to wonder how or why Paris was chosen as the main character for this picture, as the message in the story is clearly like that of her father, Michael Jackson. I suppose Paris is an up and coming actress in the industry and believes in her abilities which I think is great! Speaking of the story's message, I feel I got three messages. One being, of course, protecting our planet & the ocean. Second, for example, the three keys: Belief in love, belief in belief itself & belief in the impossible, which both strongly represent the thoughts & beliefs of our good friend, Michael Jackson, right? Oh, and the belief in the possibility of evil people that can change to good people! The third message I felt is an indirect one I must say.

But first, you must know that in school I wasn't really too good at interpreting literature, so you might then understand if I appear to be way of base. LOL! So please don't' think of me as a strange & unusual person who is way out there in left field when I begin to tell you the third message that I came across when the story came full circle in chapter fourteen.

As you well know, there's a worldwide fan base of Michael Jackson and it's these people that are inclined to read Lundon's Bridge, especially since Paris will star in the motion picture. However, as I'm sure it's obvious to you, from being on Twitter, that this fan base is somewhat divided, in that there are believers and non-believers. Meaning, there are some who believe Michael Jackson has passed away & some that beLIEve that Michael is still with us and faked his death. You know this, right? Okay, without going into too much detail of all the hoax investigators, hoax game of clues creators, truth seekers & young pre-teens with girl crushes(I am neither of those), let me just say that I for one, am a believer that Michael is alive (gosh, please don't laugh). With that, the third indirect message that I received is merely based on my own belief & interpretation. Respect? Thank you. :)

The message is: "COME BACK" Through metaphores, similes, & the depiction of characters, Here is my interpretation. I like the metaphor Seven Reefs. Seven, being Michael's favorite number. This is simple. Then on page 207 the word BAM is used at the moment Dalina realizes she'd been deceived and turns from evil back to good. For the beLIEvers of Michael Jackson, we all know that BAM is Michael's word at the end of This Is It & it's also the BAM that DIDN'T happen in "July" and the BAM that those still wait for.

Also, I paid particular attention to page 208 where Dalina becomes humble in the idea that Lundon, the precious child, who's belief is powerful and indeed saved everyone. Michael was humble and believed very much is saving the children and that we all should be humble & take care of our children.
Here's a good one! Page 209, "You good soldiers have served this kingdom all your lives…" "You know what the Pom Family stands for! The choice is yours; make it now! Let's show our king who we are!" So very clear to me! On Twitter MJ's fan base is Michael's #SodliersOfLOVE & #MJsArmy . Michael is the KIng & #MJFam is the kingdom and we show Michael who we are & that we stand strong behind him. Am I right? Ya, you know it, hm?

Moving on. Page 211, where the antagonist, Varkor receives his just served demise. I feel as though Varkor is personifying Sneddon! To see Sneddon's demise would be a welcome idea since he is the very person who attacked our good king, Michael Jackson. Correct?

Next, page 212 where Kevin's body appeared one particle at a time with each one feeing free & having a special glow. To all MJ beLIEvers this would tell us that there is hope of a return of Michael given the "clues" in This Is It where Kenny mentions, "piece by piece" & "bright lights." Then Kevin goes to Lundon, played by Paris & are reunited with much belief & love. We all know that Paris has been in the spotlight since the day Michael left us.

Page 214 where all the bug children of Wonderland were "debugged" or Healed in a manner of speaking, became joyful & thankful. Even as Wart who was debugged was a policeman. Obviously the police were very unkind to MIchael & now we have in the story, the policeman became good. I think we all would much prefer that in real life, right? As for Wes and Ida… well they were just plain evil people, which in reality, people can be evil. Wes & Ida remind me of the parents of MJ's accusers back in the 90s. You can't fix 'em!

PAGE 217: Sparkles, the go-between, word-of-mouth fish, the one who is the voice & let the others know. I can think of only one person, although I could be wrong. This character reminds me of Pearjr! I'm very sure you know of her, she communicates to #MJFam that MJ is alive. Then where Sonia is reunited with Lundon because she soon believed. This is turning the nonbelievers of MJ's return to the beLIEver.

Finally on page 219, the best part. What can I say? It's beautiful, heartfelt & magical all in one. It's not just a happy ending. People's lives were changed, their beliefs & understanding. The three keys. Because of this, there is unity for what is good in the world and for the world. I think we all believe in Michael in this way, and for those who don't, should & maybe will.

So there you have it good sir. I know I may seem a bit far-fetched & way off course… LOL! But it's what gives people hope & inspiration to change for the better as we try not to get caught up in the evils that do exist in this beautiful world we live in. But it is time to open our eyes & be aware of the ones who are really evil. Now, I'm not one to get all caught up in all the hype, or over dramatize & get into anyone's business. I'm just a low key & laid back kind of lady who sincerely cares. So, either you got a good laugh and is well entertained or just simply respect my thoughts. As far as Twitter is concerned, the entire #MJFam is equal in my opinion. All our blood is red & we all love Michael Jackson the same & that is from the bottom of our hearts. I don't take sides & I love them all the same. And, as for the all the fakers, posers & hoaxers… I like to think I'm a good judge of character & I never take them seriously. I treat everyone with kindness & I tweet positive things with never a hateful word.

All in all, I enjoyed reading your book & sharing what it means to me. I can't' wait to take my kids to see the movie! Thank you so much for reading this & I appreciate your talents & bringing them out for the world to see. #LOVE

Laura Tuller
P.S. I don't expect that I'm at all correct in all this. But I do believe in the possibility. :)

AEG ~ Sony / Some of the leaked emails released....
« on: September 10, 2012, 04:13:28 AM »
Emails reveal dire worries about Michael Jackson’s health in the days before his death
The Daily News has obtained a trove of emails – which are expected to play a central role in two lawsuits set for trial next year – which detail concerns over Michael Jackson’s health by those around him in the days and weeks before his death.

In this May 6, 2009 image released courtesy of Michael Jackson, pop star Michael Jackson, center, and director Kenny Ortega, left, are shown in Los Angeles during rehearsals.
Five days before Michael Jackson took his last labored breath in a darkened bedroom, the director of his ill-fated “This Is It” comeback tour was sounding the alarm — even louder than previously revealed.

Kenny Ortega sent a panicked email in the predawn hours of June 20, 2009, telling promoter Randy Phillips, the head of AEG Live, that Jackson appeared too “weak and fatigued” to rehearse the previous night, “trembling, rambling and obsessing” to the point Ortega recommended a psychological exam.

When Phillips didn’t immediately address his fears, Ortega fired off another email 11 hours later, the Daily News has learned.

“I honestly felt if I had encouraged or allowed him on stage last night he could have hurt himself,” Ortega wrote to Phillips in the confidential 1:20 p.m. missive obtained by The News.

Phillips responded within the hour, shooting down Ortega’s concerns with even more force than formerly exposed. “It is critical that neither you, me, or anyone around this show become amateur psychiatrists or physicians,” he wrote, adding that he was in touch with Jackson’s personal doctor, Conrad Murray, and had gained “immense respect” for the cardiologist who would later got to jail for involuntary manslaughter.

“(Murray) said that Michael is not only physically equipped to perform (but) that discouraging him to (perform) will hasten his decline instead of stopping it,” Phillips said.

“You cannot imagine the harm and ramifications of stopping the show now,” he wrote. “It would far outweigh ‘calling this game in the 7th inning.’ I am not just talking about AEG’s interests here, but the myriad of stuff and lawsuits swirling around MJ that I crisis manage every day and also his well-being.”

Signing off as Randy, he added: “Please stay steady. Enough alarms have sounded. It is time to put out the fire, not burn the building down.” Jackson, 50, appeared to improve significantly at followup rehearsals but died that Thursday after Murray provided a lethal dose of the surgery-strength anesthetic propofol to help the King of Pop sleep.

The trove of emails detailing dire concerns over Jackson’s health are expected to play a central role in two lawsuits set for trial next year.

One involves Jackson’s heirs suing AEG for wrongful death. The other is a battle over the $17.5 million insurance policy that Lloyds of London wants rejected due to Jackson’s alleged ailments.

A lawyer for AEG said the leaked emails were “cherry-picked” from more than 40,000 documents in an effort to “misguide” the public.

“Both Michael Jackson and his personal physician, Dr. Murray, repeatedly told all involved in the tour that Michael Jackson was healthy.

Randy Phillips, Chief Executive of AEG Live and promotor of Michael Jackson's 'This Is It' concert tour, testifies during Dr. Conrad Murray's involuntary manslaughter trial the death of singer Michael Jackson.

And indeed the autopsy showed that was in fact the case,” lawyer Marvin Putnam told The News. “AEG could not, and did not, cancel its agreement with Mr. Jackson, a respected performing artist who insisted he was ready and willing to perform, simply because he’d been ill one night.”
Putnam said Phillips and Ortega met with Jackson after the worrisome rehearsal to express their concerns and check on his welfare.
Jackson was “calm, lucid, and appeared fully healthy and engaged,” he said, and “backed up that convincing interview by performing brilliantly at the next two rehearsals, which Mr. Phillips attended personally.”

Defendant Dr. Conrad Murray in court during his involuntary manslaughter trial in downtown Los Angeles on Sept. 29, 2011.

The more than 200 pages of correspondence obtained by The News — and first reported by the Los Angeles Times — also provide a window into the strange behind-the-scenes minutiae surrounding the King of Pop’s final days.
One striking exchange shows Murray micromanaging his proposed London accommodations while Jackson — the man he was hired to attend — lost weight as he begged for dangerous drugs.
“Make sure that the mattresses are in top shape or they will have to be changed,” Murray wrote in a June 15, 2009, email about the posh residence he planned to inhabit with his three daughters and infant son.
Other leaked emails show that even though London’s O2 arena holds some 20,000 people, Jackson was only allowed 10 comp tickets per night for the sold-out run.

Actress Ashley Tisdale and director/producer Kenny Ortega arrive for the premiere of Michael Jackson's 'This Is It' on Oct. 27, 2009, in Los Angeles.

And two months before Ortega complained to Phillips that Jackson appeared “weak” and neglected by his personal staff, an AEG executive personally fired Jackson’s longtime nanny and confidant Grace Rwaramba to help the bottom line.
“AEG has been cutting down on Mr. Jackson’s expenses in anticipation of his upcoming tour. Unfortunately at this time the services you provide do not meet our needs,” AEG exec Paul Gongaware told Rwaramba April 19.
Perhaps most shocking were emails Phillips sent an AEG colleague shortly before Jackson stood at a podium in the O2 arena on March 5, 2009, and blew kisses to his screaming fans as he announced the “This Is It” deal.

Paul Gongaware, concert promoter and producer of Michael Jackson’s ill-fated 'This Is It' tour, testifies in the Murray trial in Los Angeles on September 28, 2011.

“MJ is locked in his room drunk and despondent,” Phillips wrote. “Tohme and I are trying to sober him up and get him to the press conference.”
Dr. Tohme Tohme was Jackson’s manager at the time and had negotiated a $100,000 per month salary from AEG.
“Are you kidding me?” the colleague wrote back. Together, Phillips and Tohme dressed Jackson in his glittering black satin neo-military suit and sunglasses.
“I screamed at him so loud the walls are shaking,” Phillips wrote. “This is the scariest thing I have ever seen.
He is an emotionally paralyzed mess riddled with self loathing and doubt now that it is show time. He is scared to death.”

Trial to Determine Value of Some MJ Copyrights that Businessman Improperly Used

MJNA STAFF SEPTEMBER 4, 2012 0

(AP) - Michael Jackson’s estate will begin making its case to a jury that a businessman working with the singer’s mother should be forced to pay millions of dollars for infringing on several copyrights.

The amount is the sole issue at stake in a trial set to begin on Tuesday against Howard Mann, who has collaborated with Katherine Jackson on several projects, including a book.

A judge has already ruled that Mann violated Jackson estate copyrights and ordered his website shut down. His attorneys argue the estate doesn’t actually own the proper rights and the ruling should be tossed out, but a judge has refused to reconsider his ruling.

The infringed works include cover art from Jackson’s posthumous film “This Is It,” and a silhouette of the singer dancing to his hit “Smooth Criminal.”

The estate’s case is expected to hinge on one expert witness who has estimated the cost of a license for the works is between $5 million and $12 million.

Mann’s attorneys rejected a settlement offer last week of $2 million. Jackson’s estate, who sued over the works in January 2011, is also asking that Mann be forced to pay its attorneys’ fees.

Mann’s lawyers have sought to introduce evidence that they were given bad legal advice about having to license the works, and have considered calling Katherine Jackson as a witness. The Jackson family matriarch is one of the beneficiaries of the singer’s estate, along with his three children.

U.S. District Judge Dean D. Pregerson has noted that Mann doesn’t appear to have the resources to pay a large judgment.
