Oh god... Here I go again and no, Im not looking for trouble. I just want to explain a few things. There are approximately 50 countries that are mainly based on the faith of islam and the countries you see on television have been narrated down to approximately 4 (Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Somalia: countries with lots of trouble and corruption). To suggest that all countries have no freedom, have terrorism problems and stoning laws is not right. A country being corrupt has little do to with its religion and more to do with its political leaders and dictatorship. About 5 countries out of these 50 practice the laws of stoning as punishment. In all other countries, its uncommon or practically non existant. Muslim countries are not the only ones who practice death-penalties as you might already know (and let me just say I am totally againts war and extremists and death penalties). But you say you dont want to offend people but thats exactly what you are doing. You are putting everything in the same category. Extremists is one thing and religious countries another. Just because Thome Thome happens to be a bad guy has nothing to do with where he comes from or what country he comes from. There have been bad people in Michaels life before he went to Bahrain also.
Have you ever been or lived in a muslim country? I have. And the country Ive been at has little in common with war conflicted muslim countries. Not all of them are conflicted with war and corruption like we see with Iraq.
Its really ignorant to say that George Bush went to Afghanistan or Iraq to end terror. I actually think that was the last thing on his mind. (Oil?) And it only made things worse for this world. George Bush did more harm than good in my opinion and due to the ongoing wars more children and women AND SOLDIERS were killed than any form of extremists terrorists. Did he find Usama Bin Laden? No. But he managed to kill lots of americans, iraqi children and other civilans.
I have a friend who came as a refugee from Iran and she's lived where I live for 2 years now and the problems in her country have more to do with corrupt politics than tradition and religion, her friend who was a male age 23 was tortured 2 weeks ago by police men because he demonstrated a second time in the green revolution to the point where when he was released he committed suicide due to the things he endured. This had nothing to do with religion. But corruption and power.
Lets look at Burma... A country that is based on buddism and munks. They suffer severe corruption and the people are under immense pressure and depression, killings occur on regular basis but these countries do not get peoples attention because their regime is not based on islam.
I also have a friend who is a refugee from Iraq who's seen dead bodies on the street for several years at a time and let me tell you one thing.... They do not worship Saddam Hussein or see him as a saint, Saddams Power had nothing to do with islam, he was a dictator and mentally ill. Also, when the war started in Iraq, it made people feel more hopeless than ever before and suicide mass killings increased because of the war. People felt like there was no hope left. And thats why they increased. There are extremists everywhere, take nazis for example who worship the dead Adolf Hitler. This thread is more about preaching islamophobia in my opinion and it has nothing to do with Michael Jackson.
I think also Michael Jackson is the last person Jihad is looking for. And Michael studied all forms of religion, he wanted to connect with every corner of the world. Jehovas Witnesses, Christianity, Judism, Islam and other forms of faith. Michael wanted knowledge about everything in this world. Not just islam.
If we continue to think ''its us againts them'' then our world will never heal. We need to join together as a world and set all these mindsets aside for a while and think We are the world. There is no-us-againts-them. This mentality is damaging and only increases peoples fears of other cultures. We need to stop looking at ourselves like one country against another country. We are all from the same planet. Michaels message was about breaking barriers and connecting to the world outside of your own and getting to know people from all religions and countries. Please dont close that door on Michaels message of love and unity. Fear isnt going to solve anyhing.[/b]
Ok Im done now. Im not going to bother replying anymore to this thread.
For my experience always has to be "the other": to keep it under the thumb, to differentiate, to have it and be more than it can be. Are constructed many speeches and images to make people believe that that is necessary, justified and right, is what to do, feel and think. The history of man. The story that the most powerful build, what they think the world should be, of course should be like they.
"If history is written by those who win it means that there is another history, the real history, who wants to hear let him hear."
To me this does not offend me, that people believe in it, I mean, the lies, I offend the purposes for which "they" want to make believe in it. Divide and conquer.
I love your last paragraph. And I wish that become in a reality, for the good of all. Its enough for me.
