Today I found some more informations about it on their official homepage. There´s even a pretty interesting (and still more amusing) interview that mentions the Hoax...    :icon_eek:

I still haven`t seen it yet and even if it seems that I´m the only one interested in this gem of independent cinema, I still thought I post it here for all of you to enjoy. Who knows? Maybe there´s anybody else out there in Hoaxieland with refined taste and a distinguished sense of humour...   :icon_e_wink:
And for all those who may secretly assume that the subject "vertically-challenged people in leather costumes" is appealing to me - you´re darn right!   :icon_lol: :icon_razz: :icon_lol:

heartwarrior, your questions make it really clear to me that love is a decision/action and not so much an emotion. I think this is where most of the world is mistaken and that is where it should start: decide to treat everyone with sympathy, consider the interests, the state of mind, and the well-being of the other person, express yourself with gentleness even if you don't feel like it and the rage just wants to spew out, think twice before sharing a thought that benefits no one, think about what kind of effect your actions and words might have on the other person (whether it's the person you're addressing or an innocent by-stander who overhears your conversation or reads your posts), and decide that, regardless of how a person treats you, their behavior will not determine how you react. Love manifests in the interaction, in what you do/say and how you do/say it, but just because the person you're conversing with is love-less does not mean you should reply without love too. If anything, they need to be shown kindness and gentleness the most. Yet other times it is best to keep silent and not fuel a fight because they're stubborn and nothing you say will penetrate.

Actions rooted in such emotions (fear/jealousy/lust/vegeance/anger/etc..) more often than not lead to trouble and suffering, but, above all, they completely ruin whatever peaceful atmosphere there may have been. I'm waiting for the day the people close to me realize this for themselves because no matter how much I remind them they just don't listen. They may even agree with me in the moment, but they go on living their lives as usual, complaining about the same thing day after day. I don't know how to explain it any more clearly.

They just don't want to change; a part of them seems to enjoy the misery they inflict.  :(

Maybe one day they'll hear me.

You say actions root in emotions and you´re right, I agree. It all comes from inside. Love, just as these adverse feelings you´ve named, is an emotion too by definition. I´d even say love is the strongest emotion of them all, it´s much stronger than fear or rage - if you truly feel it in your heart, it makes them appear ridiculous and pointless.

When your heart is filled with love, it turns fear in confidence, rage in courage, vengeance in forgiveness, being hurt in being healed. It all comes from inside. All of your actions will then follow this feeling naturally.

Definition of Love: a feeling of strong attachment induced by that which delights or commands admiration; preeminent kindness or devotion to another; affection; tenderness; as, the love of brothers and sisters.

Love is like a key that opens the gate of happiness. It makes life colorful and sweet.

That`s what I believe.

I haven`t logged in to the Forum for quite a while, but I´m really happy that one of the first things I´ve read here today was your post, heartwarrior.
I like the questions you´ve put out. One can feel that you´ve sincerely given thought to these matters of interhuman relations.

All of us who call themselves "Believers" or "Soldiers of Love" should try to find the answers to that, even if not in public so at least quietly for ourselves. The willingness alone to dare a honest look inside ourselves to become aware of our very own sensitivities would pave the way for mutual understanding, for I believe only those, who are sympathetic and lenient towards themselves, are able to treat others in the same way - with kindness, empathy and respect.

Yes, I think love is indeed the answer to many questions, when this love is genuinely true.

Is that P.T. Barnum riding on an elephant with an umbrella in his hand? I can´t detect all details because I sadly don´t know how to blow the image up - maybe this is the reason why I also can`t deny a certain semblance with Humpty Dumpty...   :P

But either way, this picture really intrigues me...
Barnum & the elephant remind me of the Ringling Bros./ Barnum & Bailey Circus performance at the Staples Centre on the day after M´s  Memorial.
I think the white rabitt speaks for itself... albino/

The Spidora    TII    Resurrection?

Pure Love´s interpretation of the ufo makes perfectly sense to me.

Quote
On the UFO it is 625 2009. Well maybe he wrote MJ's "death" date on it because UFOs are also a big debate topic. Some say that they are real and some say they are not. Isn't it the same with Michael's "death"? Some say it is real and some say it isn't. ;)

Does somebody know by chance if there is a full or a bigger image of this painting?
It´s highly fascinating...

Very interesting deliberations, all4loveandbelieve. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, this gave definitely food for thought...

Now the question is why these people do this? So many factors, most of you had it right. Lack of confidence, lack of love when they were a child, abused when they were children. When a person has been abused by hitting etc.. by growing up they supress the hurt they had to endure. After a while this hurt manifest it self, it comes back to surface whether you want it of not. When this hurt and anger manifest itself, it makes you do crazy things, some are killers, some are preditors etc...Some are this way because they want to have a kick out of life, they want to have fun, they are bored to death with their life. Believe it or not some come from rich family and they lack of affection, so they decide to enjoy themselves in making other believe..

I try to understand this action pattern by what you´ve explained above, but somehow I fail. Is it mainly the sheer fun in manipulating others? - Do these people feel a flash of might by acting this way? -  Do they consciously realize what they´re doing? - And is that really satisfying? - I don´t get it. My childhood surely wasn`t the funniest too, but I was raised to treat others with respect and in the same way in which I want to be treated.

So when I try to picture a character based on the attributes you´ve explained above, I can`t help but think of

That "game" is disgusting and beyond sick.  suspicious//
Thanks Souza for raising awareness - I think this is an important and serious topic.

Still let me add a lol @ this part:

I LOVE Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka. He´s so irresistibly "burtonesque"...  :P
But the previous version with Gene Wilder also has some wonderful surreal moments.

Hmm.... um....  :o  :?  SUBVERSIVE & WICKED!

Well, I for one can´t deny a peculiar fascination after seeing it once, but I think I`ll have to watch it again to grasp its full scope. They should present it at the „Weekend of Fear“ film festival - it would definitely be a shoo–in.

„And the Golden Glibb  in the catogory „Obscure“ goes to..... Mike Moreau!“    :P  8-)

General Hoax Talk / Re: Banksy
« on: March 09, 2011, 12:43:33 AM »
What I personally find very intriguing about it is the fact, that it doesn´t even show an offensive scene but obviously the first association a great number of adults make is still a bad one.
- Why?  What exactly do we see when we look at this picture?

By "placing“ the beholder behind the kids`s back, Banksy virtually invites us to take their perspective on this scene.  I see a secluded cottage with a lonely looking MJ who reaches out and offers a candy cane to two kids, who seem to be lost and alone theirselves in this dark inhospitable landscape. The bright colors of the candy distinctly stands out against the dull background. Somehow it appears to be the only promising object within the gloom of this motif. (Maybe the candy symbolizes a pure kind of joy or happiness within a dark world?)

The depicted gesture of M. doesn`t appear threatening to me, more the opposite. He bends down to the kids height and I see something very accomodating in his posture, humbleness and also gratitude, almost as if he was much obliged that someone finally found his/her way through the dark to visit him.

We don´t see the children´s facial expressions but judging from their body language, they appear to be rather curious and attentive than anxious. All these things considered, I see the encounter of three lonesome characters who seem to be happy that they´ve found each other in a hostile environment.

Btw it would be quite interesting to hear the opinion of a child on this picture.
Possibly a first reaction could be: „There´s no Gingerbread house, no witch – this isn`t Hansel & Gretel“. Just a thought...  :geek:

I agree with all4loveandbelieve - there are always at least two ways to look at things. As long as the artist doesn`t comment on his work of art, it stands for itself and the interpretation is up to the viewer.

So even if the context may appear obvious here at the first glance, one shouldn`t dismiss this piece out of hand.
I haven`t seen it before but I must say, I find it pretty interesting. I like, how Banksy illustrates loneliness in his pictures - a lot of characters in his motives seem to be lonely in one way or another - and I like the questioning overtones in his works. Banksy makes intelligent art.

A while ago, we´ve talked about the "Pied piper of Hamelin" here on the board - and as far as I remember, the "Pied Piper" in the story wasn`t a nice guy either...  ;)
